I assume this is no good for hair thinning? It sounds like results are patchy
That would be risky. I have been having laser treatments (similar results to IPL), some parts are completely smooth but others are patchy. When my pre-paid laser sessions are over I will carry on with this machine if needed to get the area completely hair free. Results will vary with the individual. I assume that you're a bloke.0 -
Yeah I wouldn't recommend for hair thinning, as results are generally patchy0lbs/18lbs to get to club 100

Hello, I'm wondering whether you are light skinned with dark hair & which setting you are using this on. Have you used this many times on your face with no adverse reaction?0 -

Jaine, sometimes I find to exfoliate the area helps with shedding. I think some dead hairs seem to sit below the skin for a while and dont come out unless u use a pair of tweezers (not plucking) or exfoliate. I found this with my legs.
Got an answer back from the Helpline, they were very helpful, they were very doubtful that it was an allergy and I agree as I never usually react to stuff. She then asked if I was taking any medication, at first I said no, then remembered that I take non prescription feverfew(for migraines). She went away and checked, called me the next day and said that feverfew can cause you to become photosensitive. It explains why the more I use the machine, the more irritated my skin becomes. I have a choice now, stop taking feverfew, wait a few weeks and then try again, or I may try it on dark and see if I can cope. I really didnt want to stop. Boots also offered me a refund but I really want to continue. Vanity over health- what a dilemma:eek:0 -
I have read nealy all 23 pages and have decided to buy one, only two things are now setting me back.
1. After you have finished you 12 weeks and are happy with the results are any of you finding regrowth? if so how long has the haireless lasted? Iv relised some of you have done it a year ago, so how is it now? If is only going to last 3 months ill wait till jan 2010 to start so i am hairless for summer!
2. Remington and rio have bought out their versions, has any one heard about them? or have any opions?
Its been brillent to hear all the opions of real people. otherwise i just wouldn't have believed it true!
Thank you loads0 -

Total of 16 treatments now ...12 weeks of 1 a week and the rest at 2 a week. On medium setting. It flicks like an elastic band. But no redness or soreness and no other reaction at all. I always cool the area with a cool flannel afterwards. I am generally light skinned wth dark brown hair. All hair on my body is very dark. My face is slightly darker due to sun
I don't know what the future hold's for me! All I keep getting is patches and no real hair free area's.0 -

If you are seeing patches then it sounds as though you are getting results. If you google you will see that the face normally takes far longer to respond. I would say that 14 weeks continuous use is nothing as if you were having this done professionally it would probably require 8 treatments spaced around 6/7/8 weeks apart to catch the hair in the growing cycle and probably at a higher setting. If you are zapping hairs when they are at the resting stage but not the growing cycle they won't be treated. The growing cycle can be up to 9 months so I don't agree with Boots guidelines. I am waiting for my skin to get very pale so that I can put it on the strongest setting as I believe that this will make a huge difference. I can't wait to get started on my legs. All the time spent avoiding the sun will be worth it if I get results. I will be more than happy to wait a year to get good results after a lifetime of hairiness. Salons also say that top up treatments for newly sprouted hairs are needed every few years. I won't mind at all if I can use this machine with good results. :j0 -
Thanks Pepper66 ,
I wonder what the power is on the Remington I-Light and also the treatment area size. It says its available at Argos from 1st September. Tried to Google but the link to the official i-light site is invalid. The Rio machine looks a bit naff tho....no change there. Let the battle of ipl commence.Whether we win or lose, that we played at all was a winning decision.2011 wins £12,2922012 wins ...Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A0 -
I'm going to post my treatment dates here & hope that others will too to encourage each other to keep going. I'm new to this so no results yet. I am dark haired and light skinned and have inherited hairiness. I have been told that I don't have PCOS. A lot of my hair is quite course, I would say it is quite similar to hair on a man if left to its own devices!
So far;
7th August Pits on medium setting. (Not a good test as I'd epilated them fairly recently)
22nd August Pits, Nips, right inner thigh fair
23rd August left inner thigh and backs of both thighs fair
24th August rear bikini, left lower leg fair
I won't be going over each area weekly as I think that will be a waste of shots. I want to target each area once every 4- 8 weeks as recommended by the professionals (due to growing cycles), besides, who has time to do this weekly!
I would love to hear about recent positive results.0
