Also, I'm a bit worried about somehow managing to shine the light into my eyes while using BSS (and I assume getting the light in your eyes is a big no-no?).

I am also interested about shielding your eyes whilst you are using it. In salons they give you dark glasses. Is there a warning about this?

there are lots of warnings on the box and in the instructions. I suppose the thing is, it's a powerful bit of technology and not a toy, so even if we're tempted to use it as a lightsaber, it's probably not a good idea! You naturally just shut your eyes when you do it anyway, and i guess that's enough, otherwise, there'd be goggles provided. Just don't ever look directly at the light when you're zapping, just like you wouldn't shave, or wax your eyes, keep that light away from them too!!!

I usually just shut my eyes tight and look in the opposite direction when i click... and all seems to be fine x

It is sounding like the system pack should include goggles - so take note, any Boots people reading!

As two of us have now asked about how the Rio system compares, I am going to assume there is no comparison and take the plunge and order one ;)

So if anybody can recommend some goggles we could order online, that would be great and I'll blow the credit card out big time this month :rotfl:

I've just done the patch test and i can't believe how pain free it was, just felt a bit of warmth, it was on the dark setting, think i will use fair when i have my 1st proper session.
I am very impressed, was really worried it was going to be too painfull to use

I'm thinking of ordering one of these, but i'm not sure whether to get it now or wait. I'm going on holiday at the start of July and as it says it can take up to 12 weeks to get results i'm assuming i won't be hair free by then? And if i'm not can i shave between treatments? Obviously i wan't to be hair free on holiday so i don't want to order one now if can't be IYSWIM. TIA x

Yes you can shave between treatments

Its says to shave before treatments in the instructions as it works best when hair 1mm or less

I have taken the plunge and ordered mine! I went to 2 different boots branches and neither of them had it in, or even knew that it existed! The second branch I went to has ordered it in for me and I should be collecting it on the 5th! Did anyone else have the same problem with their local branches not having it or being aware of it? I went to the Bangor and Caernarfon branches and even though they aren't really big branches I was surprised they didn't have it in.

Can't wait to get started with it!

On page 20 of info booklet it says

The product does not exceed the optical radiation limits regarding exposure of the eye or skin that is expected to result in adverse health effects according to BS 8497 2;2008

just in case no one has noticed that.

I had ready other people has this issue previously. So to play it safe and save my time I ordered on boots.com. The delivery date was sooner if I had it delivered to my local boots store than delivered to my home address. It is due in the store on Friday this week!:T I hope to do 1 patch test on the weekend although my mother is here until Tuesday so might not get it in. Hope to get a patch test in and then the real deal on Tuesday night!! :D Very exciting indeed.

What happens if you do a patch test and you react badly - can you get your money back?
