    Hi

I will be in Gateshead for a meeting in a few weeks, and can't decide whether to book a train ticket for straight after the meeting or maybe spend a few hours shopping before getting the train. Does anyone know if there is a
boots near Gateshead station, or within cab distance?

    Many thanks for any advice.

    Mel
    Hiya Melgirl
There's a Boots within spitting distance of the Gateshead Interchange but I think it's a small one. Your best bet is to use the Metro and go to Eldon Square Boots a few stops away, a big store on two floors. There's a Metro station at the Interchange I think.

If you are staying for a few hours there's the Metro Centre, Gateshead, the Boots isn't as big as Eldon Square but the Metro is vast with loads of other shops.

Just had to share my shop with you all!! I posted on Monday, when I got a couple of bargain giftsets at Manchester Fort, that I saw a couple of plastic boxes full of clearance so I just had to go back to check them out today! Two aisle-end shelves full of yummy bargains (lots of 17 self-tan & numerous other items which I can't remember), but I got the following:

6 Self Laminating Photo Postcards @ 10p (not on .com, £3 on Shot2Go)
Oral B Pulsar toothbrush (with free travel case) @ £1.50 (£5.86 on .com)
    Macleans White & Shine @ 64p (£2.53 on .com)
Nair Hair Removal Gel Cream @ £1.75 (£5+ online - not available on .com)
    2 x Mango & Papaya Bath Fizzer @ 50p each (£1.75 each on .com)
Dead Sea Source De-Stress Ginger Salt Soak @ £1.00 (£7.82 on .com)
Elle Manicure in a Tube @ £1.25 (£4.84 on .com)
6 x Lil-lets Super 16's @ 20p per pack (not on .com, but 10 Super Plus are £2.10 per box)
    2 x Lil-lets Mixed Box 24's @ 20p per pack (average price £3.05 per pack from Shopwiki)
Botanics Pore Perfection Face Mask @ 60p (£4.29 on .com) SCANNED AT 60P NOW 0.00P SAVING 60P!
Botanics In Shower Facial Polisher @ £1.10 (£3.91 on .com) SCANNED AT £1.10 NOW £0.10 SAVING £1.00

TOTAL SPEND £9.14 (SAVED £50.31) & EARNED A PERKIE (actual total of goods - £59.45) I realised after that I should have spent another 86p & got another perkie, though!

How good was that!! The shop was slightly marred by the Compact Foundations scanning at £6.35 but the Perkie beeped & the SA sent me to his manager to try & get it through, but she tried it & got the same, so went & checked the SEL then came back to tell me that it wouldn't work as it was already reduced! She was apologetic, though & said it would have worked yesterday!!

Also (slightly off-topic - sorry!) went to Pizza Hut for tea for the Happy Hour deal (£4 for 1, £7.50 for 2, £14 for 4) Me & my friend had the pizza, garlic bread & drink each, followed by a Chocolate Fudge Cake each (approx £3.49) but we were only charged £7.50 in total!! Bargain!! :T
Haven't had such a good shop in ages!! Just had to share it with you all. :j

Congrats to all for b'days & new babies!!

Well Triker.... it all started with me trying to recreate a money saving spa experience with a jar of oil and sea salt body scrub, a box of tea lights and a smoochy CD in the player plugged in on the landing......

It ended with me having to get DD to help me out of a slippery bath, tripping over the CD player cable and nearly falling down the stairs naked on my way to get more towels, ruining my newly matte painted bedroom wall by brushing against it with oily arms, having to throw away a ruined bath sponge and rubber gloves then wrecking the door seal on the washer whilst laundering the numerous oily towels. My hands were a mess from scrubbing the oil off the bath...... though the rest of my skin was pampered and silky smooth....

    :T:T:T:T:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thank you, still giggling, thanks for cheering me up.

Money saving isn't all it's cracked up to be sometimes.

  • Popped into boots, just got a few essentials plus a few reduced toothpastes/brushes. Model me and herbal essences have appeared on clearance. I did buy a helena balm at 67p for a xmas gift basket. They also had toni and guy shampoos @ £2 something, oh how i was wishing the haircare vouchers were out again! :D I think they were the colour range so may be able to use the 150 points mag voucher and any vouchers the acm are giving on T&G? T&G is also on 3 for 2 and obviously Herbal Essences is bogof. Used my points so only £2 left. *cry*
A little plea, does anyone have a S&G Gift bag spare pretty please? None round here and it would make my mums soap and glory mothers day goodies look very pretty. :)-EDIT: The lovely BALLETSHOES has come to the rescue! Thankyou. :)
Thanks for the birthday wishes. :)
Thankyou for the travel straightener heads up (no pun intended!) Mimi, they will be a fab birthday present for my little sister! May get 2 pairs as it would be a nice little extra to put in my sisters haircare basket. :)
Pollsdolls I thought of what you said today. We do deserve the best everyday, you don't know what is around the corner. I thought of you as i liberally used my fcuk bath goodies and Smiley perfume today! :)

I can't stop giggling. This is exactly how I feel when my bf go bootsing with me, after one minute he's announcing he's going to the shop opposite (HMV, Zavvi blah blah) as it's too stressful, while I wasn't even doing anything dodgy:o
Oh well, men :rotfl:(gents on this board are excluded ;) ), what can I say, total distraction for bootsing missions

jazzteddy, isn't the perkie working on any reduced items now? i've been away since tuesday (nowhere near a boots store or a PC:eek: ) and I am reading the thread backwards. Mr b is going to lose a lot of very loyal customers at this rate. There is no incentive to spend a fiver anymore if the perkies can only be redeemed against full (over)priced items:rolleyes:
When I tried it on the reduced No7 Stay Perfect Compact this week, the till beeped.
I said that I had used a perkie on them before and showed a previous receipt, so I was able to buy them.
However the SA had to manually input £1.36 for 2, then took the perkie, but did not scan it.
I did this twice. I asked an SA to try scanning the perkie with the reduced exfoliator today and it didn't go through.
As you say, there is no incentive to make your spend up to £5 at the moment.
Might help us all hang on to our cash for a while longer. :)
  • Can i just say I really love this thread. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, within 9 minutes of posting my s&g bag plea balletshoes had pmed me offering me one. I really feel like i belong here and I usually find it so hard to 'fit in'. Thankyou everyone. :)

  • I managed to get the No7 gentle renewing exfoliator with the voucher. She tried the 2 exfoliators that were reduced and only the no grains one worked with the voucher. was reduced to £4.30 but obviously free with voucher.. Also only realised today you could get the big bag of buttons with the meal deal so kids were pleased.

does anybody know any fake eyelashes that are easy to apply and look really long? thanx in advance

I use Eyelure, the 'glamour' or 'volume plus' ones give the best effect. Eyelure is on buy one get one half price in Boots at the moment, I think they are £4.88 each. A lot of my friends wear a pair of eyelashes more than once, but I can't vouch for that as I always rip mine off by the end of the night :rotfl:

Have you ever had them done in a salon? Where I live it is really expensive but recently while visiting my family in Wales I had them done for £15 - would have been £7.50 if I'd gone the day before on 'half price Tuesday'! - and they were LUSH!! Lasted for 3 weeks, so good value compared to the DIY lashes which only last me one night. I felt so glamorous, they changed my life!!! I will definitely have them done again next time I go.

This is a really good suggestion, a few months back I noticed a salon offering to do eyelashes for around £7 mark which is good if you're going somewhere special. Fake eyelashes are such a fuss to put on I'd rather pay someone to do it!
