I have used the Freecycle site both receiving and giving items. It's a great idea, but my biggest bugbear is people not turning up and not having the decency to call or get in contact, yes we do realise that life doesnt run smoothly but a call/email to let us know whats happened is very much appreciated. I was giving away a dvd player and a scanner, one guy was very interested said he will come on a certain day didnt turn up, emailed to say he forgot and re arranged another day, said he couldnt make it till about 9pm, i said ok its fine, waited up till 11pm, no phone call or email. So now i just read the messages and if anyone wants anything i have then i reply to them.
I have got from Freecycle :
Epson printer and router from same person
    Brand new pink tomy bedguard
    exercise bike
going to collect a posture chair on saturday

    I have given away:
    Brand new scanner
Girls toy buggy pram and play ironing board
winnie the pooh ride on toy
dvd player ( to be collected on weds in exchange for a spider plant, fair swap i say)
ps2 dancing game and dance mat
epson printer i got off freecycle as i replaced it with a new all in one jobbie
    lexmark printer
And yes the lady in the avatar is me

I am - or shall I say was ? - a member of the Freecycle Group in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire but this morning for some reason unknown to me I tried to sign in and my password was rejected several times. In the end I asked for a new one..........that came via e mail and I tried again. This new password was also rejected several times. My now, tearing my hair out as a lady was offering some that had come through the usual e mail source, I started all over again as if I never was a member..............all went through, so I thought until I tried again and I still can't get onto the site  Now, the items I needed have gone:mad:
Not sure what I do now...............have e mailed Yahoo and asked them........maybe they can come up with something.
Hope so...............I've got rid of a lot of stuff through the site and also received some much needed household stuff.
It's always been brilliant and such lovely people as members.

if you want to upload pictures, you go to go to the homepage of the freecycle group, click on photos if its there on the left handside of the page, it will take ask you to log in if you havent alrteady, then u will be asked to select ur photos and upload them to a album, which you should name appropriately. it should now be stored there and refer people to it in your offered message

    Subject: Channel 4 TV proposal

    Hi there,

I hope you don’t mind me emailing you directly like this, but I thought you might be able to help!

I’m working on a new TV series for Channel 4 and we are looking for people to take part. I wondered if you would be able to forward some information about it around your freecycle group to see if any of them fit the bill? I think the series has elements of the free cycle philosophy – reducing waste and enabling community.

The series I am working on will follow four different groups of multigenerational families or friends who have decided to pool resources in order to buy, and live in, one dream property.

The idea being that things such as childcare, finances, working life and leisure time all become easier if they are shared. It also means people can live in an amazing house that they would otherwise not be able to afford on their own.

I wondered if you would be able to send this email around your freecycle mailing list, so that anyone who is doing this, or planning on doing it can get in touch with me directly?

Anyone who is interested, or knows someone who is, should email me on ljackson@celador.co.ukor call me direct on 020 7845 6885

Thanks so much for your time, I really appreciate it.

    Kind regards,

    Laura

I found a thread on another website where people have been discussing the pro's and cons of freecycle, and in particular, some of the nastier people that abuse it.
