I'm not sure why I am posting this really given the literally hundreds of people who joined dooyoo yesterday after reading Martin's e-mail don't seem to care about how dooyoo works and think they will earn a quick buck from the site (BTW you won't if your reviews are all of the awful quality that 90% of the newbies posted yesterday), however the site is down today.

I am beginning to wonder if all those newbies broke it

I have to say that I didn't bother reading ANY of the work from new members yesterday - there were just so many of them. In a few weeks time, those that are worth reading will have stuck around, and I will catch up and rate their reviews then.

I would also like to add that Martin's guide to survey writing which is linked to in his weekly e-mail is completely WRONG when it comes to dooyoo.

    It states the following:-
Dooyoo. Get 50p for every review you write
Consumer review site Dooyoo pays 50p for each product review you write, whether it’s an Mp3 player or Fairy Liquid. The review needs to be at least 150 words long, but the site also gives points for shorter reviews, if another user rates them 'very useful'.
Not true. You get paid 50p for every review you write that contains 150 words of GENUINE CONSUMER OPINION - so if you write a mere 150 words with only a sentence on what you thought of the product, you won't get paid.

You also get NO points for shorter reviews if another user rates them very useful - this is a myth.

You do get extra miles if another member reads your review but given there are so many reviews flooding the site just now you may well find it difficult to get any reads that way.

Once you’ve clocked up £10, it’s converted into a £10 Amazon voucher. Alternatively, wait till you hit £50 for a cash cheque. Dedicated reviewers make bundles of cash. For example, MoneySaver jenniewb says:
“In two months, I have reviewed literally everything I have used bar one or two uninteresting items, and have so far earned myself £70.”
    Again, not true.

Dooyoo changed the rules recently and you cannot convert to Amazon vouchers unless you have enough for a £20 Amazon voucher.

Also dooyoo staff quality check every review written before a member cashes out and if they consider the quality isn't of a high enough standard, you won't get paid. It doesn't just automatically appear once you have the dooyoo miles.

May I suggest someone from the MSE staff updates the survey writing guide so it resembles something like the truth and perhaps points people in the direction of this thread which explains how dooyoo works in far better detail than the so-called "guide".

And also directs to the dooyoo rules page which tells you what you can and cannot do as opposed to digesting it all into a quick few sentences which are at best misleading and at worst downright untrue.

Same here, after a while I stopped reading, because they were mostly so bad they'll be scrapped by Dooyoo anyway, so the writer will have wasted their 30 seconds writing it, and I'll have wasted time reading it.

I am a newbie to dooyoo, i signed up yesterday, ok the getting paid for my opinions is great, but i am not just going to write any old tat. I find it hard to sit and write rubbish about things as i tend to get to involved and i end up getting passionate about what i am reviewing. I have finally found a platform where i can let the world know what i think instead of keeping it in my head which drives me insane, i want people to know my views on dvds, tv programmes, music, gadgets etc, i have just written a review of a film that i watched at christmas, it has been bugging me since then, as it was such a painstakingly long film where i almost lost the will to live, my husband knows my views on this film but i wanted others to know, on dooyoo there were already reviews of this film but the ones i read all seem to like it, i had to give my opinion for my own piece of mind, not everyone will write drivel, I have so many reviews and opinions in my head that have been there for a long time, i know i cant just sit there and write review after review however much i want to get them out there to others finally, but it is nice to know that over time i can let people know what i think and feel about things and that maybe i can influence them in some way.

Lauhen thats exactly the kind of writer people want to read on dooyoo, just make sure you get involved in the community side too - read other peoples work, comment etc. Good luck and enjoy it.

Thankyou scubaangel. it was my first attempt at review writing, I know they will not be great straight away but once I understand what the best way to write them is, they will be alot better. Isn't a review my opinion of an item, should I also think about what I would want to read if I was looking at my review, I like to read reviews that are straight to the point and that don't bombard me with info, unless it's for gadgets. I don't profess to being a great writer but I am a tryer. I have read some posts on here today and yesterday and quite a few people seem to very hostile to newbies, you must remember you were newbies once, I know it is probably annoying that some people are not taking care in there reviews but dooyoo will sift them out. like I said in my previous post the money is a bonus and will come in handy at Xmas, I can't even lie on surveys as I feel guilty, so I am not going to bombard dooyoo with reviews, my 2 year old doesn't give me that much time.

We are not hostile to newbies who write proper reviews. But I will openly admit that the people who churn 150 words of complete rubbish, that has no opinion, no punctuation and barely even a capital letter, I have no time for at all.

Unfortunately because of the misleading email from Martin (or whoever in the office sends them out), these people have come out in droves, and are churning review after review (and I use that term loosely) that will only be deleted by Dooyoo in the end. Whether it's now, or in a few days time when they try to cash in. Then this board will be flooded with complaints about how Dooyoo ripped them off after they'd spent a whole half hour writing 300 reviews (okay slight exaggeration :D).

In the meantime people who've spent hours on reviews are seeing them disappear off the newest review pages within minutes, and are losing hard earned money.

I certainly hope that my post didn't appear "hostile" but if it did, I apologise.

However, there are dozens and dozens of newbies this week, and most of them are not reading and rating other peoples reviews, they are simply there to post as many poor quality reviews as possible hoping they will get a quick payout.

IF a newbie is serious about their reviewing, they will spend time reading and rating the reviews of others. If someone rates me, there is a much much higher chance that I will go and read their reviews and rate them back. Although that is not an absolute condition of dooyoo, it IS a community and that means that you read and rate others as you would like to be read and rated yourself.

If that is how a newbie works, then I will read, rate, and welcome them - they will more than likely stick around to the benefit of dooyoo.

If that is NOT how a newbie works, then that is not what dooyoo is all about, in my opinion.

As I said, not meant to be "hostile" but wanting to encourage good reviewers who are wanting to stick around and do a good job!

How do I change the category of my review once it is submitted. I reviewed centre parcs, I cannot see a uk heading only international, centre parcs is international but I just wanted it under a uk heading as that is what my review is for, I have looked again and cannot see it, it's probably staring right at me.
