Just updated my total so far, needed milk so popped into tesco and brought some nappies at the same time so a spend of £9.65 today.
I think my march budget is going well, the menu plans and shooping lists certainly help, as do the frozen portions too. I have reduced our food waste by loads!0 -
Mellika:- So do i instead it wants to burn or undercook everything its such a pain.seasidelol wrote: »hello i'm in then, i'm going to try and keep it to £140 for the rest of the month (i;ve added up feb and i spent £340 in a month, a short one at that.)
did my first meal plan last night, using stuff i got in, i'm horrified how much food i've got in my cupboards.
how do i do a bit at the bottom of all my posts so i can keep a record like some of you do, i can't work it out, can anyone help.
Click on user cp at the top of the page, then click on edit sigiture then you will see a blank box which you can write stuff in. HTH

Oh my god i need to stop spending money. Ended up going to somerfields with a friends , spent £4.98 on reduced bread, got 2 ciabattas, buns and a four pack of baguettes.Reduced liver, strawberries and yoghurt's. Then went to the fruit shop and butchers for cooking bacon and ham so in total spent about £6. Why do i do it. Oh well at least i'm sorted for next week i think, not.
Going to be very hard over the coming two weeks, going to have to scrimp and save and stop spending money wherever i go on food.0 -

I also had a very rubbish dinner tonight. We were due to have tuna pasta bake but don't have a mix so DH thought on his feet and took out cooked stew from the freezer. Had that with potatoes and beans. It was rank! In true (to me) fashion however, I ate it. DS complained also so it was a resounding disaster.
Now the question, do I risk my NSD status and go to Asda for tuna pasta mix (and bread actually) and run the risk of "shopping"? Or, do I leave off the bread until tomorrow and run the risk of DH getting the bread on his day off and "shopping" even more than me? Ah, decisions, decisions......
Hi fletch - I don't use a mix, I just cook up egg noodles (or pasta works fine) and throw in a can of tuna, can of cream soup (cream of chicken, cream of mushroom, whatever you have!) a little mayo, S&P, and some chopped up veg (onion, green peppers and celery are the nicest). Throw some buttered bread pieces on top and cook for a few minutes in the oven. Makes a nice creamy pasta dish!Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32

Afternoon all,
Had a Tesco delivery last night and was able to use online codes so saved 11 in total on the bill. The cupboards are chock full so even though we don't have much left in the budget we shouldn't need more than a top up of milk and fruit/veg sometime next week. I did an inventory of our cupboards yesterday before Tescos arrived and couldn't believe how much we already had in the cupboard! I had a list of at least a dozen different meals we could make just from the cupboard! It made me realise how much we already have stockpiled, it's just easy to forget what's in the cupboard!
I'm confident we can hit our target this month!!!! :TDebt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32

Saturday:
Having not been eating cucumber for ages, I bought 3 when I found Lidl selling them for 49p each, and a cauliflower.
Monday:
Bought a piece of cheese for lunch and some bananas. Both whoopsed. I also found lots of carrots due to be sold but not reduced. I determined that Mr. T would eventually reduce the carrot later, so I went to the shop again after work, at about 6. This time I got the carrots for 23p 1kg:money:. In addition, I also found more whoopsed bananas!! I bought another pack of 8 for 52p. There would be lots of bananas in the freezer.
Tuesday
I underestimated the amount of veg I bought on Saturday. I had no choice but to go to Lidl again. A good 1 hr walk for another cucumber 49p and 2 celeries 34p x2.
Money spent so far: £28.340 -

I always think instead of avoid shopping like plague, we should train ourselves to go to the supermarket often and resist ANY temptation to buy things we don't need? :A0 -

LOL!! Good for you!
I don't get to come on here too often.
Too buzy money saving!0 -
Back from my lunchtime dash to ALDI and also nipped in to Iceland next door to have a quick look - bit of mistake as I ended up spending but got stuff that was on offer and I will definitely use.
ALDI - 6 oranges (69p), red grapes (69p), 3 leeks (85p) punnet of sweet potatoes (about 90p I think) - all came to £3.10 - not bad I thought?
Iceland - they have quorn pieces and mince on offer at £1 each (about half price depending on where you buy them) - got 3 packs, some cheese and a 3L bottle of Robinsons squah for £2 - total spend £7
That will hopefully see me and the diet through for a good few days - will have to shop at MrTs on the weekend but will try to keep it fairly low.0 -
Just a quick question, I ordered some quorn pieces from tescos (also on for 1), but I didn't realise they needed to be kept frozen and we don't have a freezer. (Some quorn stuff is refrigerated, some is frozen....!) Anyone know how long they can last in the fridge? Or should we eat them up right away?!Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32
