hello i'm in then, i'm going to try and keep it to £140 for the rest of the month (i;ve added up feb and i spent £340 in a month, a short one at that.)
did my first meal plan last night, using stuff i got in, i'm horrified how much food i've got in my cupboards.
how do i do a bit at the bottom of all my posts so i can keep a record like some of you do, i can't work it out, can anyone help.0 -
Good morning. I had to buy bread, biscuits and milk this morning. Since oven died I have not been able to bake. DS's are missing their HM cookies. Hopefully, I will have time to bake a batch tonight with new cooker. I have a top up shop arriving from Ocado. I had a £15 voucher so I used it to stock up on offers. DH is away this weekend to watch rugby. This means I can be relaxed cooking wise.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

Morning all!
I haven't set foot inside a supermarket/food shop since Friday evening and seem to be doing quite well BUT (there's always a but!) I'm running out of fruit. Now I'm back on the SW diet fruit is pretty much my saviour so I'll have to pop out at lunchtime (maybe to ALDI as its closest) and get some more.
I also have to rethink the meal plan a bit to accomodate "green" days and sneak "diet" food in to my OH.
Oh well, I suppose being healthy is more important than being rich!
Will update the spend (which I hope will be only a few pounds) after the shop.0 -

Crikey, I haven't popped in in a while and can't believe how many pages I have to catch up with! cool.
Just thought I'd share my latest idea with you. Because I am a worrier by nature, I like to make sure my two youngest (3 and 6 years) have the amount of milk they should each day. So in the fridge I now have two plastic jugs with their names on (in permanent marker) and have marked off the 1pt measure. Each morning I fill them to this level and any cereals, drinks requiring milk for them come out of the individuals' jug. When it's all used up I dont mind so much if I add a splash of water to other milks they have to make it go further. Obviously they have other calcium rich stuff, cheese, yogurts etc, but I am now finding I don't go through 'quite' as much milk!:T
Ok, off the read up on a few pages I've missed. Bye for now(vegetarian & vegan family: me, DH, DS11 & DS 7, 3 dogs and 3 cats (not veggie )

Just back from shopping & am pretty pleased at £75.06 all in. This also included an 80 wash box of washing powder that I'm stockpiling as it's too good an offer to miss (£5.99)
Menu plan is done, my week runs from Thursday to Wednesday, & the fridge/freezer & cupboards are looking good :j

Been to the Butcher's this morning so updated my total with my spends.;)
Last night's Frittata was a hit with both DD's so I'm really chuffed, this is a real breakthrough as they both used to be fussy about eggs, one didn't like the yolk and one didn't like the white, so really pleased that they liked this so shall add that to my little book of Dinner ideas.
Dinner tonight is Fish, HM chips & mushy peas.:D
Have a good day everyone.;)"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hi All, just popping in for a catch up. I have finally run out of things to chuck together, and have had my first spend of March! Total spend was £96.00
Plan to cook a veggie cottage pie with DD in a mo, as well as some cookies and a chocolate biscuit cake (the best bit is, no cooking with that one!)
Our seedlings are coming on very well; they have all started to sprout and when the time comes, i am going to really look forward to eating them! Especially the cucumbers, as the price of them lately, even from the local market, is unreal.
Nice and sunny here today - great incentive to crack on....

Morning all
Just a little bragging post about my OH. He doesn't like most vegetables and whinges about them if I put them in anything.
Last night he ate shepherds pie with peas and baked beans in; plus a side helping of green beans and carrots. Technically he hates all those veg except carrots.
However, he cleaned his plate last night and very proudly showed me and said "Look, I've eaten all my vegetables!" - he's only 30, so I feel quite proud :rotfl:0
