My mum will be interested in this. Do you have any more information. Thanks

It works with the Boots Advantage card. The 10% is off Boots own brands (inc No 7 and so on) only, not off everything.

Go into a Boots and pick up a leaflet. Your mum should fill in the form (and apply for an Advantage card if she doesn't already have one) and take it along to a Boots branch to activate the discount offer. It works automatically when she uses the card. (It does show as an over 60 discount at the till.) She may need to provide evidence of age - I used my bus pass.

30% off glasses from £75 range or above if you're over 60 Monday to Friday plus free eye test

Also if you work beyond 60 as I am doing, you don't have have to pay NI (woman) but of course you will pay extra tax on your earnings because you are claiming your state pension.

I have just been sent my new tax code which is 82L which means I only have the first £822 tax free and have to pay 20% on all my earnings over that amount.....ouch!!

No need to apologise, I too was politely informed about "stickies" a day or so ago.

  • Hello, welcome to the forum!

You may be able to claim Council Tax Benefit, and if your house is rented, Housing Benefit. These are means-tested benefits.

You can apply for a Heating Allowance (£200 p.a. per household where someone is over 60) and a free Bus Pass.

    You can get free prescriptions.

You don't have to claim your pension at 60 - you can defer it and get extra pension when you do claim or a lump sum.
