what proof do they need of your age?

They only have to look at my fizog to see I am over 60:rotfl: :rotfl:
No seriously it's a good scheme I joined last year and if you use boots products it does give you a handy 10% off. When your my age I seem to spend more time in the chemist than I do anywhere else .;)

    Hi all

I have had a quick look to see if this has been posted before but cannot find it. Apologies if it has.

I went into my local Boots today and picked up a Healthclub and more leaflet, which when you register is giving up to £100 in money off vouchers to everyone, but if you are over 60 you can get a 10% discount on Boots brand products.

Sorry dont know how to post links but you can register online at

Apparently Age Concern says millions of pensioners are missing out on benefits - well they seem to make it so complicated to claim so that no one gets anything!
There are some useful bits of info and links to find out more about free bus passes, spectacles, dental treatment, loft insulation, central heating etc here.

Thank you Mrs Money, I didn't think I was entitled to anything as I fall into a grey area (commonly known as the s**t when you're a pensioner!) but according to the calculations in your link I may be able to get a very small amount of pension credit. Will look into it but prepared for the rejection I'm more likely to get!

Even if you only get a few pennies Pension Credit this is worth claiming because recieving Pension Credit is the gateway into other benefits, such as Council Tax discounts

Also, people on pension credit can apply to the Social Fund (part of Jobcentre plus) and apply for Community Care Grants, Budgeting Loans & Funeral Payments (claiming for someone else's funeral) if they satisfy the criteria.
