Well thats my first sewing day down the drain!!! OH was fine yesterday, but inofrmed me that he needed his library books returning......I needed meds from Boots and I had a book and letter to post......so just got back, visiting my quilting friend this afternoon, so much gossip not much sewing.........hey ho, allotment tomorrow if I get the veg done at lunchtime I might just manage a couple of hours before I start cooking the supper.....
Took OH for his walk before I went off to the shops, watched him back into the house before I set off.....

Morning all
Poor 8 month old DGD is in hospital. Started with a chest infection/asthma, as her GP is a chest specialist he definitely thinks its asthma, is suffering with her eczema too and to top it all she has come down with chicken pox that her older sister kindly gave her. GP appt yesterday meant a trip to hospital where they said she could go home last night but she is worse today so there are on their way up there now. Maybe the will put her on a nebuliser this time (they should have probably done that last night to be honest). Hope they can sort her out but none of us have much faith in our local hospital sad to say. Ever her GP put off sending her up there until absolutely necessary which says it all really.
Moggins - you can concentrate on yourself and your family now ((hugs))
Tru - what all the others have said - what a great neighbour you are
PP - that soup sounds nice and simple - will give that a try
Washing is on the line although it looks quite dull out there, don't know if it will dry. Stripped beds, will let them air for a bit till after lunch and then put clean linen on. Ooh maybe I will iron the pillowcases I forgot first (head like a sieve). Bacon eggs and chips for dinner.
Have a good day all0 -
We ARE doing well today. DW emptied and reloaded, WM been through once and will go on again in a while (it can't go on overnight at the moment - more on that in a second). Twinks are in the oven - I did two trays worth and still had mixture left so the last of it is being baked in one lump on a pyrex plate! :rotfl: Mr EH has taken the rubbish out and been down to get his paper and collect a prescription for me. The soup from the SC is portioned out and the amount for todays lunch is set aside in a pan. SC crockpot washed too - I hate that job!
PenPin I do hope your Dad is OK. I believe prostate problems in gents of a *ahem* certain age are incredibly common, but also incredibly treatable, so stay positive. I will keep some fingers crossed for you.
Ladymay - I was thinking of you earlier and wondering if you were OK - glad to hear things are going well. Wow - Edinburgh eh? Lucky you, the fringe is fantastic, I used to go up to see shows for a fortnight each year and absolutely loved it!
Right - the washing machine, or washer/dryer as it is. It's starting making a lot of noise (and I mean a LOT) when it spins. From the feel of it the drum bearings are going. It's not that old, although for a modern appliance I believe it's bordering on elderly - we brought it with us from our rented flat when we moved out as the Landlord was selling up and kindly said we could take anything that would be useful.....I seem to recall it must be about 8 -9 years old now. I spoke with a helpful appliance repair chap the other day who advised that a repair would cost in the region of £150, however he also said that he wouldn't really advise spending more than about £100 on a machine of that age. We've looked at likely replacements - a new one would cost us around £300-£350 which is in the savings account for just this sort of incident. It would also be considerably cheaper to run than the current electric-guzzling beast! (which I think must be about a z-rated one for power consumption!) Does anyone know roughly how much longer the machine is likely to surpvive for before it dies completely? Also, what would you do - repair, or replace?I'm not keen on the freecycle idea before anyone suggests it - I'd rather buy new if it came to that, and it does need to be a washer/dryer as in the winter we do have to use the TD occasionally. Looking forward to hearing some thoughts......!

PenPin, that soup sounds really easy, I must have a go. I also want to do some leek & potato. Your dad is getting active treatment which in itself is positive - but sending more positive vibes your way too. Carrot & mint WS? Sounds interesting....
Moggins, ((((hugs)))) for you hun. When you feel relief then you know it's the right thing - and now you can decide how and where you go next...
Ladymay, how exciting!! Well done (know the "taking on too much" feeling
as well... 14 weeks, 1 essay, a dissertation & 48 placement days left)
Chrisca, hope your little DGD is better soon, poor little thing sounds like she must be very miserable.
Now a joined-up member of the gym as are 2 of the DD's!!! Redruby, I'm not a great lover of the treadmill/bikes etc, but I enjoy swimming, and they have classes including belly-dancing (and I have plenty of qualification for that, lol!!). I'm also hoping to sign up for a series of 10 personal trainer sessions once I finish Uni, on a boxing theme - expensive, but worth it for me to get some fitness & motivation well & truly developed through the summer. I too love walking along the seafront as well though.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -

We found out that my DH friends wife had a brain haemorrage and although they tried to revive her she had died immediately. The baby was ok and there were people on the scene straight away. Last night was the removal and the funeral will be today, so DH is still feeling low. Will be a sad weekend.
OS wise wm has been on for uniforms, bm has been on and a loaf is in the oven now, debating about td or maiden for the wet clothes!

Afternoon all,
OH has been in really bad humour for the last couple of days, obviously decided to do something about it this morning so cooked a huge fry for everybody....only ate breakfast himself yesterday so presume he was starving. To me he seems depressed, keeps saying that I should let him die and not bother him with meds, hospital visits etc...mind you if I mentioned the word to him he would have a fit...only other people get depressed! Anyway, am concerned but have decided that offering to help is all I can do, trying to persuade him to do one thing or another would be like waving a red rag in front of a bull! Thanks for listening, needed to let that out!
Tru...you are such a good neighbour, hope things work out all right....getting old is difficult sometimes.
Sybil...I always felt that the easiest way to cope with toddlers was to have a shelf all round each room about a foot from the ceiling on which to put dangerous and precious things to protect each from the other...never had one and all seven of mine survived although our middle child DS2 saw the inside of doctors' surgeries and A & E at our local hospital more than the other six put together....at almost 35 he seems to be getting his act together...do what you can and explain firmly and often why he mustn't do such and such.. won't stop him trying but will make you feel better!
Chrisca...hugs to your DGD...has she been tested for milk intolerance...often seems to be the problem with littlies.
PenPin....good luck to your dad with his op....very common in middle-aged men and as someone else said, very treatable...hugs. Thanks for soup recipe, lovely and simple.
Beth....will you please come to all my parties??
Stefejb...enjoy your outing
Moggins....do your own thing, your own way...its called freedom!
Csarina....you really are trying to do too much, can you slow down a bit, or at least make sure you visit some of your friends or DD at least once a week to lift the pressure a little?
SunnyGirl...hugs...you are such a generous person.
Essex Hebridean...have never had a washer drier, but I think that 8/9 years is probably very nearly the end of the road and would think that spending £150 might be a waste....difficult to predict really.
Taplady...glad that DS1 is managing to make even a little money, hope things get better for him.
We are having pork chops, baked potatoes and beans for dinner, pudding will be stewed apple and ice cream, maybe even custard if I have the energy and enough milk
Hugs to all I have not mentioned, not deliberate just amnesia, have a good day.

Yes, Meanmarie, she has a milk intolerance, only sussed quite recently so she hasn't been on alternative milk for long, eczema had just started improving slowly.
Does your DH still go to his day care centre once a week still? Maybe someone there might mention to him about wondering if he's depressed. Sometimes these stubborn men are happy to hear things from a third party but wouldn't tolerate hearing it from their nearest and dearest :rolleyes:0 -
Afternoon all
MM sorry to hear about OH, I know how hard it can be living with someone who is depressed,
Chrisca hope DGD is home soon.
Hugs Moggins, onwards & upwards.
Hope you get some me time soom Csarina.
PP. I'll try that recipe for next weeks lunches.
Hugs to everyone I've missed.
Back is still twinging but not too bad, but I've got a long drive this evening, so I'll see how it is then.
Ds popped in last night with his washing & announced he's going to Australia for a year in a years time, I plastered on a brave smile, I'm sure he'll have a great time, I can't see him coming back though.
Not much OS going on here at the moment, I seem to have lost all motivation. I'm in need of some cheerful company & conversation, hubby is still very down & BIL is MIA again. I've missed the last 2 WI meetings & my usual lunch with a friend due to my DD's hospital trips. We are out tonight, but only for hubby to help a friend. Roll on 22nd, I'm meeting up with my DD's for mothers day.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Afternoon everyone!
Just popped on to see how everyone was.....hugs to you Moggins. Having been in that situation myself it feels good to have your life to yourself but is also at times a little scary and sometimes sad for what has been left behind, take care of yourself and enjoy this weekend.
Not much to say today as I seem to have woken up with a big black cloud over me:o .
Sometimes everything I have gone through in the last 5 years or so and DS`s problems etc get too much for me to deal with I think.
DS at his dads till tomorrow and I always feel low when he is away. OH in bed with a migrane:rolleyes:
Am forcing myself to keep busy to try to snap out of it, making cakes etc.
Have a review of my anti D`s with GP in a few weeks, maybe something needs changing.
sorry to be on such a downer:rolleyes:
hugs to everyone else who needs one...seems to be a lot of us around at the mo

Afternoon all!
Just a quick post, as seem to have lost track of time today, and thought I had loads of time to do stuff, but the day is going to fast!
Just popped to Asda to get DS some new trousers and shoes. I am fed up with replacing school uniform, so have told him these are to last till summer now!
Managed to get the M&S £10 deal today too! Whole chicken, caeser veg, hot fudge pudding and bottle of wine. Roast tomorrow is gonna be yummy!
Managed to sign up for the under 26 free theatre ticket promotion yesterday. Got tickets for my favourite musical at my local theatre....Joseph and his techinicolour dreamcoat! :j Have seen it so many time and never get bored of it, so really excited and happy to be going to see it again and for FREE!
Dinner today is chicken casserole which I am gonna pop in the oven in a bit, whilst I get on and do a few things before I go out tonight for my friend's birthday. So expect me to post late tomorrow, once I have crawled out the bed with my hangover! :rotfl:
Hugs to all and enjoy your weekends!
