What has amused me on this thread is GA's signature

    Ironic or what?
I thanked you because it was so amusing - irony would be wasted on you ;)

I think it is time to leave - this can only degenerate into more insults on both sides.

As stated - I was not after advice just informing of our experience.

Like I say my daughter has now got a job - and I appreciate that people on here believe there was no underhand behaviour - though I believe there was and all evidence told to us by experienced advisor at JCP points to this.

    Bye ;)

I'm paid to explain things to idiots at work.

I guess I waste my time, sometimes, on here.

It is possible that full NI wasn't paid if you earned a lot of money in a short period, NI is only assessed cumulatively for directors, and unless you were the director of a large investment bank this wouldn't apply to you, so if you had small basic and huge bonus less NI is paid. If your basic was below the NI threshold, then you wouldn't even get the NI credit. Without 2 full tax years NI you won;t be eligible for contribution based JSA. As other posters have commented you then fall to be assessed for income based, which is means tested.

I am not trying to take sides with anyone or prolong the argument, but sad to say, it would seem that sometimes some JCP employees have been known to give wrong information.
I am a CAB volunteer and we have seen clients who state they have been told , for example, that they are not entitled to x or y contribution based benefit because of a wife's income, or savings etc.

And that's quite apart from computer errors.
