Perhaps they put you down as means tested JSA - they did that to my daughter without asking and she did not know any better.

My daughter wasn't - they would have 'stolen' £20 of her legal entitlement - had I not stepped in and given the JCP a going over.

    I cant understand that.

The way the computer system works is that it assesses you for JSA(C) or JSA (C & IB). The one bit you cant opt out of claiming is the contributory part.

They got all her savings details over the phone - having worked 8 years since leaving school she knew no different.

I went with her to JobCentrePlus and the advisor admitted they had her down for savings based JSA - so I made serious comment about their devious underhand methods.

There is no such thing as savings based JSA. Its either contributions based JSA based on your NI contributions over previous tax years or it is means tested based on your current income (This is Income Based JSA). Maybe there was some other confusion when she claimed?? Very strange

Did she have other income or savings over 6k?

I'd have made a comment back about paranoid delusions.

It isnt possible not to claim the contributory part - it really is that simple.

Yes - means tested - based on her savings of over £6k.

Nothing paranoid or delusional about her being put on means tested (savings based) JSA - to 'defraud' her out of £20 per week legal entitlement.

It is truly that simple - but you are intelligent person - what is it about this you don't understand?

I still dont understand why they were devious in taking a claim off her for both Contributory and Income Based?
