How much did you owe to go br

Hi,
I've been in debt for many years and even entered into an IVA in 2005. It finally failed after I found I was struggling with repayments after two years - should never have done it. The money I paid in went to the solicitors and my creditors got nothing!!!
I was going to pay my creditors a full and final but, after losing job and looking around my home at the furniture and other things that needed replacing........... I thought, what the hell and ordered carpets throughout (had painted concrete floors!!), new bed, mattress, fridge/freezer, TV, Laptop (to replace 7 year old piece of junk), blinds, loads of clothes and shoes!! I bought a 5 year old Fiat Punto but, will now lose that!! I was hoping to keep the car as I envisage having to travel miles to find a job. I,ve been applying for jobs with a distance up to 30 miles so far!!
This is being reckless!!
Because It seems impossible to find a job or even get an interview, I just thought I;m gonna buy all the things I;ll probably never be able to buy again!!
After my 6 months on job seekers, I won't receive another penny from them or be able to get rent and council tax benefits as they'll know I;ve been reckless!!
All my own fault and right now just see a black hole as my future.

Hi All
Not sure how much mine will total, keep doing and re-doing figs so it changes daily. Recently made worse when I had an offer on my house which was £35k less than I paid for it, £15k less than my mortgage on it and about £65k less than it's peak value!
Perhaps we could run a fun league table for amounts owed, with a prize for Numero Uno! Sorry, just a simple way of shedding a little light on a dark place for most of us!
Cheers

scorpio62 - can you just confirm - was it your redundancy money you spent on all those things or did you use credit?
You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

Oh and to answer the original question - H and I, between us, went BR to the sum of £250K between us (but they will get *some* of that back when they sell the house).
To address a point made above - as far as I can tell, BRUs are not given due to the amount of debt, but the reasons behind it.You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that
