Cheers, I can see BRO which I know about, just don't know what a BRU is, what does it stand for anyone? Sorry if it's on the link but I can't see it.

EDIT: found it, never heard of it, have now though!

Mine was around £112k I think although it's currently still changing as it was only a few weeks and one of my businesses is still being closed down, at least half of it was personal guarantees to banks for a failed business, another £20k was loans I took out for the business. When my training business failed, it took my monthly income with it. I'm now earning about £200 per month (yes you read that right)!

OH also went bk for around £35k.
  • Thought that this post was quite interesting.
  • My wife = £100k, my business = £60K and me = £147k (Court on Feb 4th 2011 if I cant get an IVA)

Mine was nearly 37K in total, which included a 8k student loan and 15k loan to study a masters degree. Of course I am still paying the 8k student loan, so went BR for just over 29k. Like other have said, be it 1k or 100k, if you can't pay it back it feels overwhelming, regardless of actual amount. For me the masters loan was the straw that broke the camels back.

Got to say I feel sorry for new university applicants - how they're going to deal with borrowing 9k a year plus living expenses I have no idea.

No matter how much you owe the process is the same just the timescales might be longer or shorter for some and if you have been really bad you could be done for fraud
