twixeey wrote:Tesco EXPRESS overcharged on Lean Braising steak today 2 packets, charged at £6.43 Kg. I took them back to the shop and was told they would give me the difference (the amount overcharged) I asked about R&R but was told that doesnt apply to Tesco Express only the Big Tescos, is this correct?
If I should have had a R&R what steps should I take now?

Give HO a call. R&R applies to ALL Tescos, including Express. You should have received a full refund. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Hi Twixeey.
I think you've been conned Tesco is Tesco regardless of what they put after it, Express, Extra, etc, etc.
There policy is the same and was probably on display somewhere in the store.
I got the braisning steak at a Tesco Express garage, and had to explain R&R but was given it for free.
I would go back if it is local or phone HO and explain that the staff didn't know their own policy.
They don't have Customer Services so it's undersatndable but I think they were wrong.
There are several employees on here who may know better0 -
Hi, Ive had an idea, If you buy some high price item thats BOGOF then keep it a week or two after the promotion is over and return it without a reciept to get the full value back on both items, I know you would probably only get store credit without a reciept but you could half the cost of your weekly shop.
what do you think?0 -

I think it's fraud. Tesco will think the same, along with the police. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Not sure why any store failed to sort the meat out today - we had all ours downpriced (yellow sticker) and checked by store opening! And we had the 6 hanging board (which are corporate) on display at the front of the store and down the meat aisle - not to mention the car park banner.
Guess you wont be visiting me lol
PLEASE PLEASE come and work in Burnley store had a horendous time there today.
ARE YOU ALL SITTING COMFORTABLY GOOD THEN I'LL BEGIN
Big signs hanging boards the works re meat. YELLOW SEL whole legs of lamb was £5.99 now £4.42 some with flashed pack some not, other stack of identical legs of lamb some flashed some not on shelf round corner no sel. Went through checkout NO REDUCTION. Off to CS, asked politely are the legs of lamb on the promotion as this one hasn't come through at the right price. Ill go and see so of we went, got to the shelf upon which she said where did you get it from, pointed to the shelf with £4.42, oh she said this one is not in the promotion a customer has moved it from round there where there is no sel because they have seen that is is cheaper here, not our fault customer error a genuine mistake nothing we can do about it, ill just swap it for one at £4.42. EH I asked if they should have 2 different prices on one product line and was met with a furious I'm getting the Duty Manager. On our way back she saw another CS lady and said sarcastically the promotion the meat being 2 prices, the lady replied we have reported this 3 times today and they still haven't done anything they should have all been removed. She then phoned for Duty Manager who came out really aggresive. Opening line I HAVE BEEN TOLD YOU ARE HABITUAL to which I replied if you mean that I always check my receipt report your mistakes then yes, have only been in there about twice since christmas and havn't had a refund for months. He told me I had not been overcharged that I knew I was buying a leg of lamb for £14.42. I pointed out to the hanging sign and said no I was buying a leg of lamb at £4.42kg He then also said about it not their fault if a customer moved it and what did I expect them to do keep checking the stock, actually YES I replied. He just got nastier and nastier, I asked why they hadnt downpriced them in line with the others, he said we dont bother with that, I then asked if that was contravening Advertising and Trading standards same reply we dont bother with them. He told me I was obviously aware of the policy. I then asked if I could phone Dundee to clarify that old stock could be sold at the higher price during the promotion. NO you certainly can not these are OUR phones and we need them. I have offered you a refund as you are obviously not satisfied with your meat, I pointed out that I was very satisfied with the joint that is why I chosen it but not with being overcharged for it. He than grabbed my meat and receipt and said we will just have this meat back. No I said that is mine. He then kept going on about Domestos and Tesco bleach being the same product the gist of which im afraid got lost somewhere. Meanwhile OH came looking for me asked what was wrong I explained he then asked manager if meat was on offer YES legs of lamb are reduced YES UP TO 25% so what percentage is off this one NONE. He then got aggresive at OH big mistake who asked him politely just who did he think he was talking to. OH could see my temper was getting up so said come on we will go. I rang Dundee from the car park on my mobile and I have to say they were very nice. Will wait for outcome.0 -
But if you only done it with only a few items priced around £15 each im sure they wouldnt call the police, Although it is unethical (as is getting R+R simply to get somthing free) in times of need, do you think it would work?0

The ethics are neither here nor there. It's a criminal act. To put it in plain English, it is FRAUD.
Obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception = fraud. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Again please pass that on to some duty managers who dont bother with that.0 -

R&R is a Tesco advertised policy. Giving money away to any tom, !!!!!! harry or paul wishing to commit fraud is not.
Therefore, R&R is not unethical, it is merely customers taking advantage of a Tesco policy.
Nowhere has Tesco ever advertised "Bring your Free goods back for a full refund"Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

I overheard a convo in Tesco today. The gist of it was that all store's were placed on a traffic light system for mis-prices and if they received a red light i.e too many wrong sel's,then the manager would receive a warning. If there is any truth in this then its not surprising they are being a little over zealous.0
