  • if they have been taken out of the packaging then you cannot get a refund, the only way tesco would refund then is if they are faulty. if they are boxed and unopened then yes they do have to refund you if they were bought 28 days ago. it is in there t&c and should say so on the famous blue board/ your receipt

Thanx for this helpful info, only other problem i have is I don't have the receipt but i'm led to beleive they can find it on the "system" if i give them my purchase details. Maybe not having a receipt changes the refund posibilities?
Also note i didn't ask for my cashback i would have been happy for them to give me a gift card or credit note to the value of the phones, i'm only going to spend it in store anyway

Also for the people who are getting r&r on nintendo games ect, you say the items have sticker £xxxx and SEL of £xxx, are these stickers inside the protective case cause i cannot find what you mean?

  • nothaving the receipt will make a difference i would imagine, although tbh im not sure. i have heard the transaction search thing you mentioned talked abnout before but i dont know if they will allow this. perhaps one of the helpful mr t employees could clarify. alternatively you could give them a call to ask?

Yes, the stickers are inside the protective case. We got a R&R on the Spyro Fusion game. Sticker inside box, on the game, was £12.97. But it scanned at £14.97. :rotfl:

Okay, well first off you are required to keep your receipt for 1 year. So thats the gurantee out the window. The store are entitled to refuse any refund due to the fact you do not have proof of purchase which confirms you bought the phones within 28 days.

Have the boxes been opened at all? (i.e are the secuirty seals broken.) If you had a receipt you would have obtained a refund no problem if the boxes were un-opened.

Yes the store can try and find your receipt on the back office system but most likely won't as it takes quite a lot of time and effort. Detials must also be exact.

If the transaction was paid by cash they simply won't search the back office system.

If it was paid by Card, then they might but the following details have to be exact:

    Date of transaction,
    Time of transaction,
    No. of Items in transaction,
    Total in £ of transaction,
    Till Number,
    List of Items in transaction,
    Card Type, (i.e Switch, Amex)

Out of goodwill they could issue with the money loaded onto a moneycard (as Tesco do not issue credit notes). However this would be rather unlikely, as they will most likely want the value spent on 2 more phones or in the electrical department.

CS Guy, I have to point out that legally, a receipt is not the only valid proof of purchase. Other things such as a credit card statement are just as valid. The other thing to note is that if the customer used his/her clubcard, the transaction will be noted on Tesco's main system. If you do need to take something back and you do not have the receipt, you really should go back to the store you purchased the item from, as they will have your purchase on their system (as long as you can provide the date and rough time of purchase, or hand over your clubcard for them to check). Obviously, if you cannot prove when you purchased the item, the store is only likely to give you some sort of credit note, rather than a refund. They do this as a gesture of goodwill, however.

I had to take back a Technika DVD recorder the other day, as it had packed up after a month of ownership. I purchased it in a store on the other side of the county (a three hour roundtrip for me). I took it back to my local store, which refunded without a receipt (I had my credit card statement to prove when and where I'd made the purchase). I got a full refund without any quibbles. I've now found the receipt!

  • cs_guy thanx for the info, the items are exactly as i purchased them (seal intact)
If it's not possible for them to do it then fine as i did throw the receipt awaybut as soon as i approached the cs desk and said i wanted to return the phones the cs person said "we don't do refunds on mobile phones"

I don't usually buy electrical items from tesco and i had gone in for my weekly shop, i just threw the receipt away as i unpacked the shopping, i know stupid of me but hey its a learning process lol

Also i paid in cash and didn't have my clubcard with me so i doubt they will trace it but thanx anyway
