Wednesday 25th February

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 25th February. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning all

Where is everyone this morning  , all tucked up in bed I hope, looks like its going to be a bit dull today weather wise. Never mind I am off to work, so will be inside anyway.

Rubbish and recycling are out, and the sc is on warming up, I made up a mixture yesterday, and will put it on a low to cook all day, It has stewing lamb, chick peas, butter beans, lentils, onion, corgette, leeks, and tagene spices, a long slow cook and it should be delish :T

Will have a quick tidy round this morning before work, and I have to take my car into the garage, It has developed a strange knocking noise, which is something to do with the suspension so another £50  , still it has to be done.

For all of those with a Wii, its my Birthday in a couple of weeks, a big one, and OH has said that he will get me a Wii if I want one, I do like games, but I am wondering if would use it enough, or should I go for more grown up pressie, how much do you use yours ?

Its parents evening at dd's school tonight, and we will find out if she passed the science test she took a couple of weeks ago, she needs to have passed to be able to study tripple science, which she desperatly wants too, so fingers crossed.

Well i have moiliered enough today :D .

Hugs to those who need one,

Beth, Marie, Morweena, smoky to name a few

Have good days all xx

  • Morning redruby - where is everybody? I've been up for ages but didn't know how to start the thread! So I've spent the last cup of coffee reading how to snap cheapie dishwasher tablets in half without getting powder everywhere. Whatever did we do before MSE was born?

    have a good day y'all

Morning Red Ruby & all who follow. Was up as soon as the alarm went off today as I have a tendency to 'just have 5 more mins' then oversleep  Doing my final February food shop today which will blow the budget as I'd under estimated the amount that 4 children will eat :rotfl: Haven't heard from my parents yet but last night they were looking forward to a good nights sleep :T Dogs, cats & fish have been fed, kitchen swished & WM on. Waiting to see what the weather's going to be like so I can see whether to peg anything out. Lunch will be when I'm out & about so will grab a sandwich & dinner is sweet & sour chicken with rice. I've got some fruit to use up so I'll do a fruit salad to leave in the fridge for snacking.

Diva - ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) and prayers still on the go for you.

Halight - Didn't see a post yesterday hope you're doing okay?

Reverbe - How's the fairtrade going? Hope you got to learn your answers in the end

(((((((((((((((((big hugs)))))))))))))))))))) to all that want/need one. Have a good day everyone I'll no doubt be back on later.

    Good Morning!
Ash Wednesday today so church before the gym! have been struggling to decide what to do for Lent this year - have finally decided to be more accountable for my time, spending more time daily planning/thinking (all areas of my life!), plus making time daily to get on with sorting"stuff" - I'm a terrible hoarder! On the giving up front it'll be sweets, biscuits and chocolate!
Had lovely evening with old friends last night - can't remember ever entertaining in the week before - another retirement benefit!
Need to make some soup with the veg in the fridge today - and crack on with the sewing. I did at least get the cutting out done yesterday. ((HUGS)) to all having a difficult time just now. Best wishes for a good Wednesday!

    Think twice before spending anything!
  • Morning,

it is a quiet start to the day? I managed to sleep better last night which was good - hopefully the whole day in the office to actually do some of the paperwork that is piling up and remove some of the worries...

Manic evening last night too with governor's meeting & friend coming round after that for 2 hours, but managed to get the pancakes made & eaten :)
Youngest DD has been very good all week, preparing her own packed lunch the night before, and having it in the fridge ready to get out, bless her. (Not quite sure what she is after.....). I got some of the mini philadelphia tubs in Asda, 2 x packs of 4 for £1.50, so she takes one of them along with a selection of other nibbly bits. Think that way she can have some things at breaktime too.

My friend is going to help me sort out a base for a new rotary washing line at the weekend, so that should make life a bit easier too. And I want to go & get one of those plastic greenhouse shelf unit things, so I can start some seedlings off which will motivate me to create a veggie patch area.

Redruby, you need to have a stern word with your car, lol!! We have a Wii, and we did get WiiFit, but I have found I haven't had time to use it. Although from early June (once Uni over) I may do - but I have found I prefer to go for walk by the sea, or a swim (in a vague attempt to reassure myself that I DO exercise. Once every 3 months or so..)
Lilibet, lol at the boss's nickname :) You have a star now too - have you spotted it?! And yep, it's to do with posts, I realised the other day I now have 3!!!
SunnyGirl, it amazes me even when one of my 3 girls isn't here how much less food we use. Once they have all left home (when they're older, lol) I will probably use in 1 year what I spend on food in 1 month at the moment!!!!

((((((hugs))))))) for everyone having tough times, or feeling sad or poorly.
Time to make more tea, then off for a shower & get geared up for a day of trying to get back in control!!

    Morning All

Didn't see a thread, so popped off to read the end of yesterday's, and copy the sticky, and came back and RR has done the honours.

RR - go for the wii with a wii fit. You can have hours of fun with friends, trying to hoola-hoop, ski-jump, etc., let alone ten pin bowling from wii sports, and sitting there driving Mario Karts with a small plastic steering wheel in your hand, racing and falling off cliffs, and no wire is very frustrating. No you don't have to be good at any of it, but it is a laugh, and loads of our friends have bought one once "playing on it", let alone the test that gives you a wii fit age:eek: :T :j . It is also good for keeping an eye on your weight as it will go back a year on the graph, mine shows a very slight gradual reduction:j :j . We had a whale of a time with 8 adults, all between 55 and 63 and stopped laughing all nice, and were still at it at 2 a.m.

OS yesterday was a quick swish and a swipe through the lounge & kitchen areas, more of the tapestry, and when we lose the sun at 4 pm a long walk along the sea front. The Med was very calm today Aussie. Tea was the very adventurous cold chicken, frozen chips, with baked beans, which was requested by DH, and which he duly did, I said he was getting fed up of the washing up of more adventurous cooking. He declined pancakes for afters too.

No plans for today yet! Will give it serious consideration over coffee. - I'll get my coat.

    ((hugs)) all.
    Take care DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • morning everyone!

The LO is just having breakfast, then the OH will be off to work. Im taking LO swimming for the first time today, not sure how she is going to react! shes a bit of a wimp! :p
Ill also be doing my final shop for feb today, i found out where my nearest farm shop is yesterday so im going to go there and see how we go. the deciding factor will be the cost, as much as i love the idea of getting fresh local produce all the time, if its too much more expensive ill have to go back to the supermarkets :(
Shepards pie for dinner i think, havent made one in ages.

Redruby - i have a Wii (which is broken atm after LO stuffed the disc drive with stickers!) and the thing i used most was Wii fit (which is obviously another £60+). Once i got into a routine i was using it everyday. Im not a big sports game fan but the sports games are really fun, especially if your family will join in! If mine wasnt broken i would also be playing the animal sims game! I love my Wii ;)

  • Morning all,

I want a Wii fit too:) I haven't really been that turned on by the sports. The thing I like best is making your photos into puzzles on the photo channel-keeps me happy for ages:o

It's our 14th wedding anniversary today so OH has the day off. He's taking dd to school (and swimming this evening -yipee:j ) and then we're going for a walk up the Malverns and then lunch at a pub. I expect we'll have a bottle of wine tonight too (I am not listening to any more health warnings-I'm fed up to the back teeth of them:p ).

Tea tonight will be mince-not sure what way though.
