To Lauren the Ebico Company Rep.
Don’t know if the following is something for Ebico or Southern Electric, but here goes anyway........
I’ve been with Ebico for some time now and my gas & electricity bills are paid every 3 months by direct debit based on meter readings which I enter monthly on SE’s website
Occasionally I receive a letter from Southern Electric, saying I could save more money if I pay by monthly direct debit. When I phone up to say I’m happy to set this up, I’m told that the direct debit must be for a fixed amount each month. This general arrangement seems to cause a lot of complaints, judging by this website, and I prefer to keep some control over my payments, by paying for actual usage.
Can the billing system be changed so that monthly bills can be based on monthly usage?

I can only presume that this is a SSE computer generated letter.

However, you will not save any money by paying monthly by DD as an ebico customer - every ebico customer pays the same price (within the same electricity region for electricity) no matter how they elect to pay.

    Good morning

I'd like to introduce myself to the forum as a company represntative for Ebico Ltd. I'm here to resolve any issues that any users of MSE may have and hope I can help in anyway possible.

    Thanks for you time.

    Well here I go....

Requested a Gas Service from EBICO back in November 08 & still waiting...

In Dec 08 called Southern and they said I had no contract so went back to the EbiCo sales line, it seems there was a delay (but later found out from Southern they didn't put it through) so it would take a few weeks, then received a card in the post in January, rang to see when my transfere date would be.....

And no one knew, blaming Npower, but was told I'm in the priority queue now! so gave it a week and called again, Southern said Npower would not reply, so rang Npower, they said they knew nothing about it. So rang Southern and got told again they would e-mail someone in 'accounts'? not sure why?

So Feb 09 called again, now it's not Npowers problem it's Transco (they don't exist by the way!) when I said that I was told I'm wrong, on pushing a little more and explaining that I was on an IGT pipeline, guess what? Yes it was there fault!

And to top it all did I want to take electrictity from Southern electric? (err let me think about it, NO!)

So to top it all, where am I now......well no further forward that November and a very bad experience with EBICO who just don't seem to have any customer service and to top it all the company which they use tries to sell it's own product to you instead!

    Anyway what can be done?

    PS
I moved electricity at the same time to someone else and this involved new metering and equipment and they did that in 6 weeks!
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

You do save money - the more customers who pay by direct debit the cheaper the overheads the cheaper the unit prices.

    Premier,

On the bill I have in front of me now, it states I have a Direct Debit Discount of app. £15. May be it is a SE discount, but I definitely have a discount, even though I'm with Ebico.

But what are the unit prices you are being charged? Are they different from these: http://www.ebico.co.uk/html/e_rates.php

Do you receive £15 off those prices?

I thought they 'add it on' then 'take it off' as SE's computer system cannot do it any other way - lots of posts on this issue.

Those are the new reduced price rates from April '09.
