We asked you because you are the landlord of the property and rang us concerning this issue, if you had wanted the property to be on Ebico, we could have sent out a contract to the new tenants.

The account goes to SSE because they are the supplier to the property, and there is no agreement in place with the new tenant to have the account on an Ebico tariff.

I just can't get through to you can I? It is just the same with Ebico customer services!

Go back and read the beginning of this thread:

    1. I was sent an incorrect letter from Ebico. It said "I see that you have decided to have your home energy supplied by someone other than Ebico.............was it price.....is it something we have done wrong? This was weeks after I had notified Ebico that there was going to be a new tenant and weeks after they were in residence!!!

    2. This letter was sent to me at the old address. This was weeks after I had notified Ebico of the change of tenancy, the names of the tenant, and had paid the final bill. I was no longer resident, not the account holder and no longer responsible for deciding on the supply!!

    3. The new tenant had also contacted Ebico on taking up residence and gave their full details and meter reading. They did not cancel and were not contacted by Ebico, or SSE.

    4. Incidentally, I did suggest that they remain with Ebico. However, as the landlord I had no rights to prescribe this or to deal with Ebico on their behalf. Indeed I would not want to be involved or have the responsibility for someone else's supply or account!! Can't you get this????

    5. If you as Ebico's rep, and Ebico management cannot see that the supply is nothing whatsoever to do with the landlord, it is the tenant you deal with then it does not bode well for landlords, or indeed the rights of tenants.

I don't see what's so hard to understand from Lauren's resonse.

You were contacted by Ebico to see if you wanted to stay with them, you said no. Therefore, it was put on a SSE tariff as they supply the energy for Ebico. Surely it's just a case of the tenants phoning to request to be put on Ebico instead of all this petty arguing.

You obviously have not read through this thread before you decided to comment. Please excuse me if I therefore don't consider this comment worthy of a considered response.

  • Hi To All

After looking for information on this site for a company with an unbiased approach towards customers on pre-payment meters we came across Ebico and decided to go with them and that up until yesterday we have had no problems.

This post is intended to make others who are with Ebico aware of certain short comings as we see it with them not being able to supply their own meter cards and keys we have come to this conclusion after querying some figures which we were not happy about with SSE concerning our gas meter only to find out that in fact we where on the wrong tariffs in fact we were not even on Ebico tariffs but in fact on SSE tariffs and had been since September when we started but it went further than that as it was established that the same situation applied to our electricity this needless to say has all now been rectified.

The two points we would like to make are if Ebico were to have their own meter cards and keys which would contain their own tariffs the chances of this happening would be eliminated and finally we would strongly advise everybody who is with Ebico to check their meters and make sure you are on Ebico tariff/s

    Thanks

You appear to have a problem with customer services
You appear to have a problem with Lauren, the ebico rep here.
You appear to have a problem with me.
And now you appear to have a problem with Sol00

Can anyone spot the common factor here? ;)

Hippey, we emailed you yesterday about your account, this should be sorted now.

LeBlanc, we wrote a letter to the tenants explaining what happened and asked them to contact us if they wanted to remain on Ebico.

Unfortunatly not, nPower are still disputing the previous reading, although they are not sending the boys round now, they still don't believe my reading. So I am paying twice for the same gas.

Npower blame SSE and SSE blame Npower.

And I can't move as the account is in dispute now.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I managed to switch my IGT supply to ebico in a little over 5 weeks :)

The IGT is certainly the usual cause of delays in such switching as the the switch needs manual intervention. As I understand it the IGTs don't use the same computer system that National Grid (formally Transco) and the energy suppliers use. It was the IGT that caused the 7-10 day delay for me compare to the electricity switch - and it may have ended up longer if I hadn't made a few quick calls to monitor and expedite the switch.

Of course, if people are not happy with ebico, one wonders why they are still with them? Perhaps it's because they are the cheapest supplier especially when 4 of the big 6 all charge extra for an IGT. Only British Gas and SSE don't (and of course SSE is the company that processes switches and provides other customer services & billing on behalf of ebico)

That may be your case, but my IGT which is GCT somehow has taken 4 months to transfer things over.

My main gripe was the 1 month delay due to someone losing my application, although it was found on a bit of digging. Then I was transfered in the end on 13/2 but no one told me! And a meter reading that was plucked out of thin air, but apparently was an 'actual' reading.

Together with all the companies blaming each other, I have spent about 2 1/2 hours on the phone, and got final demands and threat of 'the boys' from my previous supplier and called a liar when I said my meter had not be read by anyone.

Ebico seem a reasonable company and I assume should the switch go well you would have no issues, but it seems when things go wrong they just snowball.

I'm not looking to change supplier, purely ensuring the company know about its shortfalls
