Hi dogshome,
I don't know why you weren't given the prices and info you required over the phone, this may have been because you did not have dpa to discuss your son's account.
I'm sorry that you are finding it difficult to locate the info that you require. To see all of E.ON's tariffs, you can just enter the post code for the area you wish to view and any amount for the monthly spend, this will give you inaccurate savings but you will be able to see a list of the unit costs.
The best thing to do would be to get your son to call, he can then give authorisation for you to discuss his account.
If he doesn't want economy 7 prices, he can just request for this to changed to a single rate tariff.
If your son would like me personally to help him, send me a private message with his phone number and I can give him a call today.
Hope this helps...

Hi dogshome,
If you look at the meter it may show both the day and night rates, these are then the readings needed to calculate the charges.
On some meters you need to press a button to see the other rate, you may see rate 1, rate 2 and rate 3; this will be day, night and total, not necessarily in this order. (There are a lot of different types of meters).
If it is a dial meter, here is a bit of info on how to read it...
When reading your dial meter, always remember that adjacent dials revolve in opposite directions.
Ignore the dial marked 1/10 (it is only there for testing purposes) and read the other five dials from left to right.
Always write down the number the pointer has passed (this is not necessarily the nearest number to the pointer).
If the pointer is directly over a figure, say 5, write down that figure and underline it 5.
Look at the figures underlined. If one of these is followed by a 9, reduce the underlined figure by 1.
If you also need to know the times that the night rate kicks in, I will need the post code and house number, if you PM me I will let you know.
I hope this helps…:)

Hi, I am on Price protection 17, but this is not shown on the energy helpline options, so I used price protection 2009.
My charges at the moment are -
Electric
Normal units up to 900 kWhs
20.1495 pence
Normal units
11.277 pence per kWh
Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs
5.31405 pence
Normal units
3.3873 pence per kWh
Extra saver 12 is suggested but the prices at first glance seem higher!
Gas
6.363p for the first 670 kWh per quarter, and 3.466p thereafter
Electric
24.528p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 10.175p thereafter
I use about £600 on gas and £400 on electricity. Should I change to another of your tarriffs. I am in post code area YO16.

Do you receive any discounts to your Price Protection 17 prices, Fortyfoot? The irritating complication is that you may receive up to 17.5% discount from those quoted EES12 prices.0

My Feb Bill, looks like about 10% -
Total Electricity Charges
£96.31
Total Gas Charges
£263.33
Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
£32.37 CR
Total (Ex VAT)
£327.27
Because of these discounts it makes comparison difficult unless you are a mathematician!

Hi Fortyfoot,
Your currently on a protected tariff, so if the prices go up you won't be affected, if they go down yours will go down too.
You do get more discount with the online tariffs, but these are not protected and if prices did rise, yours would as well.
If you want me to do a comparison for you, PM me your full post code and house number and I will do so today.

Thanks Helena, your replies are like a breath of fresh air. I have sent a PM.
Did you mean "if discounts did rise", if not, I do not understand.

I think on this one because you are on one of the tariffs were it is specific to heating you will find the standing charge higher to compensate for the lower heating rate.
I would be certain that you want to change your meter by the way because sometimes this can effect the heating system you have installed in your property and you would end up paying more - just a thought.
Keep in mind if you are on a two tier system you are in effect paying the standing charge its just billed differently and in my opinion this would only be beneficial if you were not a regular user (i.e holiday home) but dont hold me to this

Just had a letter from E-On stating that my 12 month special return offer was ending and I would go on normal online tarrifs again, whats the best tariff I should be on - I take both elec and gas off E-On - hoping the E-On rep on here can advise meBetter to light a candle than to curse the darkness. :beer:0

Hi SALOPMAN
I'd suggest going on to the latest version of the online tariff, you can view the prices online, or you can PM me with your post code and house number and I can give you full details.
Hope this helps....
