Just a quick question, I have sorted out some books that I want to sell. I already have 2 debit cards on record on Amazon from when I have bought things on there previously, I have tried now registering as a seller and when it gets to the bit where it asks you to put in a card it won't accept either of my debit cards. Is this because you need a credit card rather than a debit card. They're solo cards that I have, hate them, have no end of problems with places that dont' accept solo grrrr. Hope someone can advise me. Thanks in advance!0

I had the same problem last night, You have to use a credit card. It doesn't have to be in your name just any credit card.
Hope this helps. I had to wait till this morning to phone and sort out.

thanks for the quick reply! that's really really annoying! I don't have a credit card (not one that I can use anyway! lots of debt hence trying to sell things to get back on the straight and narrow!)0

I know i was so annoyed last night. They dont make it clear.
They don't actually take anything from this card. I think it's just in case you don't pay your fee's. I used my mum's.
You should try your card number if you got one. Not sure if they check anything, just think they want a working number.Would love to earn an extra £40 a Week. Trying to find ways to :-)0 -
Has Amazon changed within the past year?
I have listed some books to sell (before, it was 60 days I think) and then Amazon sends email about books not sold. I listed some in May, it is August now, but it still appears on list?
Another worrying issue is no-one has bought anything, have revised prices in June, upon checking now, it is priced really high compared to others, but can't let go as they are really heavy textbooks... would be talking about a big loss if priced any lower since SP costs £5 min, £7+ next weightband, Amazon fees... Any ideas please?0 -
For text books you need to be a big seller with the benefits of a pro merchant account and a Post office account to save postage costs. Smaller sellers do struggle to compete on price against them and I tend to go as low as I can and if I don't look competitive I dump the book. I am not always the cheapest but i take into account feedback percentage and condition and match that. I probably dump back at the charity shop around 75% of the books I aquire as not being worth listing.
As for listings expiring, they seem to have stopped that at the moment.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh and by the way there is another glitch at the moment in that you can't check your final values before you list, you just get this message:

What is it with Amazon and their Wall-of-Text emails lately?
Dear Seller, Charge When Ship will be automatically enabled in one week in your Seller Account, and you will then be required to confirm to Amazon dispatches of all new orders you receive for your Amazon Seller Account. With Charge When Ship, if you do not confirm dispatch of an order through Manage Orders or a feed within 30 days of the date the order was placed to Amazon, the order will automatically be cancelled, the buyer not charged and you not paid for the order. Once your Amazon Seller Account is enabled for Charge When Ship, you will see "Confirm shipment" and "Cancel order" buttons for new orders; the "Refund order" button will only appear after you confirm dispatch of an order. Just as now, there will be no "Cancel order" button for orders you received before your Amazon Seller Account is enabled for Charge When Ship. Charge When Ship follows the current industry standard for processing buyer payments and will also help keep buyers informed about the status of their deliveries. Though Charge When Ship is new for some sellers, other sellers have been using it for quite a while. We are bringing this functionality to you because of Amazon's commitment to providing the best customer experience possible. We strongly encourage you to sign-up and start using Charge When Ship already today: On your Amazon Seller Account home page or in Manage Orders, click the "Learn more" link in the yellow Charge When Ship sign-up notice. Here is more information about how Charge When Ship works: * When you dispatch an order, you confirm the dispatch to Amazon by providing delivery information in Manage Orders. If you have a Pro Merchant Subscription you can also use text-file feeds for this. * The buyer will be charged after you confirm a dispatch to Amazon, rather than when the order was placed, providing a better buyer experience. * Please do not send dispatch notifications to your buyers anymore. We will send them a notification after you have confirmed dispatch of the parcel. If you send a dispatch notification, the buyer may think that he will receive two deliveries. * To keep buyers informed about their orders, we display the delivery information provided by you to Amazon in the buyer's Amazon account, and we also send the buyer an e-mail notification with all the delivery information. * You can cancel an order, if exceptionally necessary, instead of confirming the dispatch, and then the buyer will not be charged and you will not have to issue a refund. We think you will find managing your orders is easier and more efficient with Charge When Ship. If you have questions, contact us using the "By e-mail" or "By phone" button in the Seller Support box found on the right side of seller Help pages. Thank you for selling on Amazon.co.uk Amazon Services Europe =========================================================== IMPORTANT REMINDER =========================================================== For each order you ship, you must confirm dispatch by the ship date communicated to the buyer. Any order that has not been confirmed as dispatched will be automatically cancelled after 30 days. This means the customer will not be charged and you will not be paid for the order.
HOW TO CONFIRM SHIPMENTS
You can confirm dispatches easily in Manage Orders: 1. In your Seller Account, under the "Manage Your Orders" heading, click "View your orders" to find the order you want to confirm. 2. Click the "Confirm shipment" button next to the order (or below the order if you are looking at an order detail page). 3. Select the Ship Date and Carrier (such as Royal Mail) from the drop-down lists. 4. Enter the Shipping Service (such as Ground) and the Tracking ID, if any (supplied by the carrier). 5. Click the "Confirm shipment" button. For information on using a Shipping Confirmation feed to confirm shipment of multiple orders at once, follow this path in Amazon.co.uk Help: Amazon.co.uk Marketplace > Selling at Amazon.co.uk Marketplace > Confirming Dispatch > Order-Related Uploads > How to Confirm Dispatch of Multiple Orders at the Same Time
HOW TO CANCEL ORDERS
If you are exceptionally unable to dispatch an order, you can cancel it in Manage Orders: 1. In your Seller Account, under the "Manage Your Orders" heading, click "View your orders" to find the order you want to cancel. 2. Click the "Cancel order" button next to the order (or below the order if you are looking at an order detail page). 3. Select the appropriate reason, and then click Submit. If you cancel an order, the customer will not be charged and you will not be paid for the order. For information on cancelling orders using an Order Cancellation feed, follow this path in Amazon.co.uk Help: Amazon.co.uk Marketplace > Selling at Amazon.co.uk Marketplace > Confirming Dispatch > How to Cancel an OrderMy TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Can anyone help me with this one please?
I was contacted last week about a book I had on sale - it was brand new (an unwanted gift) and still had shrink-wrap around it.
The buyer asked if I could send it to her in Europe. I replied saying that I could do that but as it was a heavy book (1kg+) I would have to increase the price to cover my postage. She seemed happy as the only other books like mine listed were used (at the same price as my new one was initially) and she really wanted a new one.
She went ahead and purchased, then asked me to open the shrink-wrap and check that it was all perfect inside! At this point alarm bells started ringing, but I went ahead with what she wanted and posted it out to her wrapped in bubble wrap and double-thickness cardboard just to be sure.
I have got home today to find three emails from her. In the first she is complaining that there are small creases in the hardcover (I did examine it thoroughly and if there are they are minuscule!) In the second she is saying that the book wasn't heavy and that I should refund her the extra money. In the third, she says that if I refund the extra money she will leave great feedback!!! All this in the space of a couple of hours!
I am happy that the book was perfect and very well packed, but am now worried that unless I refund her she will leave negative feedback - as I don't sell that much this will affect me quite badly. Do you think I ought to give in to her? I really don't want to as I think it's totally unjustified.
Also, I'm sure I've read on here somewhere that sellers can also leave feedback for buyers on Amazon - can someone point me in the right direction for this please as I have searched and can't find it.0
