Is feedback on Amazon as important as it is on Ebay? I recently sold a book in excellent condition for £24.99 (Buying it new would have cost the buyer £43 and I was the cheapest used listing at the time). The buyer has left me a rating of 3 out of 5 and the comment "Arrived in very good condition. Not cheap for the age of the book"

Is it worth responding to the feedback? It just seems slightly unfair to me that he has marked me down on the cost of the book when he was obviously willing to pay the cost at the time. I think he might just be slightly annoyed with himself because the lowest price for the book is now £10!!

    Hi Larlie,

that is annoying! Feedback is not as important on Amazon however having said that if you are a small seller a neutral which is effectively a negative can take your rating right down and it will take a lot of sales to recover. You have at least 2 options; you can email buyer and very politely explain that they seemed pleased with condition and service and book was cheapest listed at the time etc and would they cosider removing the feedback as you are sure they don't realise it counts as a neg and will affect sales, damage your business as a small seller etc. Give them instructions about how to remove f/b. They may not respond or remove the feedback in which case there's not much you can do.

You can also leave a response on your feedback page to their feedback for other buyers to read. Best to be polite even if you don't feel like it :p - say something like 'glad you were pleased with the condition of the book and the service you received - the book was the cheapest used listed on Amazon at the time'

    good luck

I think that feedback is important to a seller on Amazon, posisbly more so than on ebay unfortunately as we get so little. The difference between a seller on say 96% and 99% is huge, and even though i know how odd the system is I tend to glaze over the sellers with less than say 97% and where two books are on the same condition for the same price I would always go to the seller with the highest feedback.

Like teapot says though I would also ask the buyer to reconsider their feedback, I've bene left neutrals before for all sorts of extraordinary reasons and have always managed to get the buyer to retract it after a grovelling email.

Dreadful trading on Amazon over Easter for me - despite having 200+ CD listed, just one sale :(

I thought some peeps might be buying over the holiday, esp. as the weather was so bad.

1500 listed here and 2 sales, It has been dead for me though since the last set of 'improvements'.

Oh and I know something is adrfit as i'm one of those selelrs that can't list on the normal template any more, I have to keep logging into the selelr central platform and read a cheery little message about Amazon fulfiment every time. It's taking ages to list this evening and I'm about to give up.

If it wasn't for the fact that my ebay book sales are doing very well I would have been tempted almost to give up!

Anything I can get. I tend not to bother with 1p novels unless they are very high in the rankings and probably have considerably more non fiction than fiction at the moment. I list every few days and also cull my older books when their rankings or price fall.
