OP,So Sorry this has happened to you, hope you get it reinstated,I have posted their new free no for you to contact them tomorrow.
HTH
Katie xxx
Hi Katie,
Many thanks for that. I have already called them 4 times. Every time I call, I end up in some call centre somewhere abroad, where they tell me that an account specialist will get back to me within 24 hours. Nobody has emailed or phoned me yet.
This is another reason I am very frustrated - it is impossible to get hold of anyone who can explain or look into what has happened.
Apparently, the "account specialist department" does not have a telephone number. Regular customer services do not have access to my account any more - so they can not tell me anything.
Very, very annoying!0 -
OP, yes, some big companies act dreadfully. An example is Tesco. But whilst I have seen lots of people complain about Tesco, and heard a lot of bad things and experienced them myself on numerous occasions, I have never, ever had a problem with Amazon or seen anyone complain about them before. Doesn't mean they're perfect or infallible, but I am more inclined to think Amazon are in the right here. Although I would say, regarding the vouchers, they won't give them back because you can't use them if you no longer have an account, so maybe get them to refund the person who gave them to you, then that person can buy you vouchers for HMV or Play.com instead?0

I had never had a problem with them - until now. But others have:

I clicked on one of the "complaint" links, no surprise it was from people who had also had their accounts closed. For returning numerous items as they had spotted them cheaper elsewhere after ordering or claiming numerous items have not been delivered.
Seems like Amazon are cracking down on those that abuse their generous customer service.0 -

Why on the basis of your own beneveolent experience of a retailer do you presume that everyone else's experience will be the same -- and that if it isn't, then it must be the customer who is to blame?
You seem to know nothing of what's happening at Amazon so perhaps before coming on here to hand down the judgment that
"I am more inclined to think Amazon are in the right here"
a bit of research might not have gone amiss.
If you want to call the OP a liar, why not come out and say so? It won't help the OP or anyone else having a problem with Amazon at this time but perhaps it might make you feel better.0 -
The very same thing happened to my Amazon.co.uk account, and I lost my gift certificates too!
I contacted Amazon many times but have never had a reply or response of any kind.
I thought it was just my bad luck, I have not thought about it since until reading this post0 -
Hi there,
If they do not reply, I'm taking them to small claims court for my gift certificates. The OFT/Consumer Direct have confirmed that they can not just take your gift certificates. I'll also be contacting the media. If there are any journalists reading these boards, PM me.0 -
Hi,
My Amazon account has finally been re-opened.
When I asked Amazon if they wanted feedback on why I had to return some of the items, they said:
“…we will not be entering into any further correspondence in relation to this incident. We do not require feedback and the account will continue to be monitored…”
How nice of them. It’s unbelievable that it took 20 emails, 10 phone calls, a fax and a letter sent by recorded delivery to get this sorted. By a company who signs their emails informing the customer that their account has been canceled with:
“Amazon - Building the Earth’s most Customer-Centric company”.
Not really sure if I want to shop with them any more...
Thank you to all of you who have expressed your support! I hope this never happens to anyone else - it's been a nightmare to deal with.0 -
what was the value of said 5 items?! what were the issues?! all 'faulty' e.t.c?! in a short space of time?! all from one delivery?!
they must have 'SOME' reason...0 -
