Out of about 100 items in the last year, returned 5. Gift certificates I have on my account are a gift.0

Amazon has messed up in the US in cancelling customer accounts and then having to re-instate them when it realised its records were incorrect (same name, wrong customer, etc.)
That's why I posted at #17, because the OP needs to go back to Amazon to get 'em to look again.
The various Sherlocks on here who clearly think the OP has returned more than sixty or seventy items in every one hundred purchased might do well to restrain their imaginings because contrary to what they seem to believe as Gospel, Amazon ain't godlike or infallible.
As brookerdave said a lot earlier, it's just another giant US outfit like eBay, and whether the Internet is a better or worse place because of it depends entirely on how well it runs its affairs and how intelligently it treats its customers.
To judge from the hoo-ha over in the States, it ain't doing too well at the moment.0 -
Like I said before lets do our bit for the UK and start spending our money with British Companies and keep the money in the UK. It will help all of us0

Fair enough but who do you suggest everyone uses? I tried to buy a CD in my local 'town' recently. Only to find that (since Woolies has shut and WHS has made their top floor DVD only) Tesco was the only place selling CDs at all!!! What? So if I don't want cheap krap or just the latest releases then I'm stuffed!
Books? Electrical goods? The convenience of getting everything from the one company!
Amazon is great! Free delivery, good choice, good prices - mostly - AND I like the review system. If you read the reviews carefully before buying then you don't buy as many duff items.
Suggestion for the OP is to use someone else's account - partner, friend. If their account gets banned too then you know it was your fault after all.0 -

For them to take this action, you must have been sending a fair number of items back and costing them a lot in returns and admin work. I use Amazon probably weekly and have only ever had to return one faulty item in all the years I have been shopping with them so presume you ordering and returning as though it was a catalogue store. If returning a lot of "damages" and no other customers are having as many problems then they have a right to look into the matter.
I remember a thread about a supermarket doing the same on accounts where numerous items were returned or claimed for as missing. At the end of a day they are a business and there is no point doing business with customers who are costing them money rather than making money.
I'm sorry OP, but I have to agree with this post. Amazon has been doing a lot lately to get as many customers as possible, slashing prices further, the 3-for-4 on some items, etc etc, so they wouldn't just ban legitimate customers. I have been a regular customer since 2003 and have never had to return anything. I have made one claim since I joined, and that was against an independent seller. Amazon were swift and helpful, as always.0 -
Hi - I agree - Amazon has everything one needs. And I could use someone else's account. But the issue is that I do not want to, as I have done nothing wrong.
It is interesting that on a consumer website, where we are supposed to stick up for each other, my peers automatically think that I have done something "shady". We're not all like that - even though I know that a lot of threads and posts on these boards are about "tricking" companies.
However, I just want my account back - even if it means I will not be shopping at Amazon any more, by choice. I also want my gift certificates back.
I am ready to contact the media and issue a press release. Do you think I'd be doing that if I had done something wrong?
Yes, big companies DO make mistakes, and are sometimes rude and unhelpful to their customers. Do you always get great service from all the big-brand names? They've made a mistake here. Yes, you only have my word to go on. And you need to trust me. And it's completely your choice if you do.
I came here to vent, get help and advice. Not to be accused - AGAIN - after Amazon has done it - of being a fraud.0 -

We are not 'supposed to stick up for each other' for the sake of it!
