I was just thinking of buying something from Amazon but this has made me change my mind.

I normallyt try and avoid the big American Global Companies as they often abuse their market dominance but I had felt that Amazon had different values. Even after seeing the report on Watch Dog I felt they had different values and the return policy instilled confidence. I often read posts on deal websites of great deals and other people post don't risk it with the randon unknown company Amazon offer the same deal or its only slightly more use them as you have the backing. But this does not appear to be the case.

Yes they are a business and do not have to deal with any one but I for one am fed up with the American bully boy tactics on everything they touch. In the current economic climate why don't we use this as a catylist to start buying from proper British Companies and keep OUR MONEY in BRITAIN.

I for one will not be using Amazon , I hope other people heed this thread.

Maybe start a Facebook Entry on this.

    Well said.

It looks like Amazon is trying to get away from the DSR laws, by making it's customers know that anyone who returns under DSR may be banned from the website.

My suspicious is on the fact that you have a large amount of Gift Vouchers left on your account.

See if someone at your local paper is interested in the story, they're often gagging for news.

    Hi,

Yes - I'll be contacting not only the local newspapers, but the national ones too. And I have already contacted the OFT and the BBC Watchdog. Any other consumer websites/organisations anyone can suggest?

    Thanks!

It seems that is exactly what they are trying to do here, as they've done in the States for over a year now.

    Unbelievable. Honestly, truly unbelievable.

As long as they refund any gift cards and despatch any paid for orders, they have done nothing wrong. They have the right to choose who they want to do business with.

For them to take this action, you must have been sending a fair number of items back and costing them a lot in returns and admin work. I use Amazon probably weekly and have only ever had to return one faulty item in all the years I have been shopping with them so presume you ordering and returning as though it was a catalogue store. If returning a lot of "damages" and no other customers are having as many problems then they have a right to look into the matter.

I remember a thread about a supermarket doing the same on accounts where numerous items were returned or claimed for as missing. At the end of a day they are a business and there is no point doing business with customers who are costing them money rather than making money.

Very interesting. I too am interested in why you did have such a large amount of credit on your account? And how many orders you have actually returned in the past 6 months or so vs how many orders you have kept?
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)

I seriously doubt that Amazon would shut you down for no reason, so I am willing to bet that you have been a particularly awkward customer and that they have genuinely had enough of you constantly sending back items. They have a great returns policy, but abusing it as a try before you buy facility far too often is bound to raise eyebrows.

We only have your word on how you have been using/abusing the policy, but could you tell us exactly how many items that you have seen fit to return to Amazon in the last year or so?
