Afternoon all,
Out in 5 minutes to meet a friend for lunch....OH coming too which means it will be more like 15 mins!
Welcome back Kazonline...nice to see you.
Sybil...hope that you are well....come back please!
Csarina....have always been interested in Amish way of life....you are so knowledgeable on the subject, must have a look around for some books to read...how is the new cooker??
Evening meal will be light to-night, maybe a risotto type thing that I will make using whatever bits I can find in fridge, seem to be doing well with getting stuff eaten up at the moment.
Nice bright, sunny day to-day, will get more clothes on line when I come back from lunch.
Hugs to all, have a nice day

Don't want to be a drama queen, but not much OS to post - a bit odd here.
Cheese sauce - add marmite. Also for cheese soup. It doesn't taste like marmite, but it adds a 'kick'. Also adds lots of salt for those on restricted diets!
Little bear has got a new little sweater top - a stripy hoodie. He has developed a deep and abiding attachment to this item that I bought last week, so I think I shall have to get a second one, so one can go in the wash. It wasn't even on sale. Last night he was sitting there, obviously red hot, but absolutely refusing to countenance the removal of the top. I suppose it shows he would rather turn the heating off and put on a sweater, which is a Good Thing.
Reverbe - is your regular postie on leave? My regular postie is lovely and reliable, but his cover is dreadful!
Hugs to allAnkh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Marie
Marie, I have spent a lot of time reading about the Amish, plus I do have a couple of Amish friends.........
The new cooker was connected last night, the first thing it cooked was OH's porrdige this morning, it came to heat much quicker than the old solid hob....there is a lighton the hob top that stays red until the plate has cooled down so you are not liable to put your hand on the plate by mistake......I am going to bake tonights fish in the top oven, will cook the chicken on Sunday in the main fan over, I am going to start using roasting bags....does anyone else use them???? someone told me that the chicken will cook slightly quicker in the bag.
I know from using the combi micro that it cooks at a lower temprature.....its a fan oven. I am going to use the 'remote control' in otherwords the timer.
I went to the fabric warehouse this morning, could hardly get in the door when I got there, I bought 9 balls of wool Loweth £1.25 a ball 6 navy for a jumper for OH and 2 different greens and acream for another scarf, hat and glove set....also I am not sure how it happened but a piece of fabric jumped into my basket when I was not looking............cheeky thing.:rotfl: :rotfl: Its got golfers on, I promised my SIL a quilt a couple of years ago, he is a very keen golfer, and rather good too....won quite a few prizes.....this will be ideal, I plan to use it as attic windows.......so many people waiting to pay it took me longer to get out than it did to pick up what I wanted!!!
OH is ok today, I will get him out for a walk in a mo, then I can get on knitting the squares I started last night for a blanket.
Fish, mustard mash and green beans for supper with banana something for dessert..............
((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) for anyone who needs one......Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
:hello: Hi Moggins - glad to see you back Hun, been thinking of you.....
NoahsPM - Sincere sympathies to your DB & SIL - it is so heartbreaking to go through IVF and think you have succeeded....We were devastated the first time round, thinking everything had worked and was wonderful, only to get to the scan stage and find it was ectopic. The shock was terrible - we (naiively I now know!) just hadn't considered anything being wrong at that point, having been so focussed on getting PG. Hope they will be able to try again, if that is what decide, and have more luck next time (we're waiting to start ICSI #3.......).
Silvercharming - YES grocery prices seem to have taken another hike up in recent weeks - bread flour is really annoying me! Up from 48p to 68p in one jump....how can that be right? I found an old reciept from just over a year ago last weekend, and some of the price rises are just shocking:eek: - SP pasta was 21p, now it is 43p. Tinned Toms were 21p, now they are 33p.....everything has gone up, and not just just by a couple of % either!
Popped to Morrison's last evening - we go there about once a month. Some things are cheaper/better there than Mr A's and they sell petrol! (Petrol stations have become few-and-far-between round our way).
Managed to get a few reduced bargains for the freezer - packets of ham & chicken breast for DH's sarnies down from £2 to 50p, carbonara sauce from £1.99 to 39p, fresh beef meatballs at half prcie (proced up the mince and I couldn't make them for the reduced price!) so now my freezer is full to the brim and we can eat for the rest of the month and into March too!
DSK's with us all this weekend. Much as I love them, it's hard at the moment, as they are a constant reminder of my childless state, and when I see them hugging DH I just want to cry...
Ah well - day out with my mum planned tomorrow, just the 2 of us (leaving DH & SK's to their own devices  ) - we are going to watch lots of little plays being put on in various shops in a street near us by a local theatre company, it's called Trading Local and is a very innovative and fun idea! We're hoping to fit in lunch and a spot of 'bits & bobs' shopping as we go - will make a real change!
If I don't get to log in again in between - have a good weekend everyone!

......Still seething at the Post who have only delivered once this week. We get normally some post every day and not only are they causing me lots of extra turnaround time on my Lovefilm dvds, i havent got my trial for Tescos which was due to end yesterday and as it is the first one they have sent me since signing up last August, I am concerned that they will not choose me again.I hear that it is not unknown for them to store or hoard it up and then deliver it all in one go. The last few weeks we get like nothing and then one day it is like Santa's mailbox as the postie shoves 4 lots of several through. They are not meant to do this but as my flatmate said you will NEVER get them to admit they do it.....
Keep a log of what is delivered & when (dates if poss), also keep the envelopes as they will have franking dates on. Then go into your delivery office with the "evidence" and keep doing it until things improve. We've had signed-for post being signed for & put trough the letterbox when we've been away before now when our regular postie has been off - goodness knows what could have been going missing that we don't know about.0 -
Afternoon gang, Hope everyone is well and happy today. Things okish here. He is in grovel mode I am well lets just say cool but not totally hostile IYSWIM.
Can't decide what to cook today might make some shortbread and am going to make some more bread-still not totally sure what happened last time. If I have another disaster will bring back the trusty BM:rotfl:
Thank you for all the kind words and good wishes for tonight. The recording was lovely and loads of fun. They make a real effort to put you at ease and to make the day special. THe make up was fantastic I REALLY REALLY enjoyed that! As for the food in the green room:j :j :j Some of the contestants take things very very seriously though.
I am far more nervous abo)ut tonight that I was at the recording. I just hope I don't get any snide(I don't mean from here- you are all lovely) comments about how I look(side of a house crossed with a hippo:o) how I sound(not great)-pity they didn't let me sing the answers:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Anyway, whats done is done. I had a great time and I don't regret doing it.
Can I just say how lovely it is to see Kazonline:j :j :j Hi.
Would be nice to see Tickle Mouse (and loads of others)

Anniestar - I just know you'll be great. We'll all be so pleased to have a face to put to a name!
Well, DH has gone out on another quote - if he could earn money just by quoting for work, we'de be quids in!
Noahspennilessmum - lots of (((hugs))) to your DB and SIL. It must be dreadful. Good luck to them and to you.
Sunnygirl - I'm so pleased your Dad is getting the right attention.
Wannabe - each of my two boys got attached to certain things. Your little bear's new hoodie must be really special. It's a good idea to get a replacement, though. My DS2 loved a cot quilt that just got smaller and smaller as he dragged it around with him and, when he was asleep, I would cut bits off to wash, give him the clean bit, then wash the rest of it. He sort of got used to it shrinking every week and accepted it was The End when he could hardly hold the last bit in his hand! Of course, you won't be able to cut bits of Little Bear's hoodie - he's bound to notice a sleeve missing! My DS1 liked a tiny pram pillow - fortunately, it was one my Mum had made, so she had plenty of left-over material to make new covers for it every so often.
Twink - thanks for the weather update. I'm glad it's clearing for you, but it's great that it has meant a good winter for Aviemore.
Chicken, leeks, mushrooms and potatoes are prepped for tonight's Remoska casserole so not to much cooking to do.
The weather here is great at the moment. I have lots of washing drying on the line and about forty frogs having an orgy in my pond. You should hear the noise!
Anyway, I've mioliered enough. Sometimes I can't find enough to say, other times there's no stopping me!
See you all later.
