Morning all,
Bodyclock definitely back to waking at 6am now - helped this morning by one of the cats who was adamant he would like to be let out NOW please!!!
MSDiva, hope you catch up with Tristan soon hon. Exciting to watch things sprouting in the garden tooThank you for the crumble topping, I wondered if it was just like a normal fruit pudding crumble thing... I may make a slightly bigger batch & freeze some so I don't have to make some every time.
Kathy - hope you're winning with the paperwork?! Any promising work pending from all the quotes you've been doing for OH?
N9eav, yesterday sounds like a real "holiday" type of day, how lovely.
CookieMonster - you're backWoo-hoo!!! So glad you've stayed. I bet you'll double-check for keys every time you leave the house now....We were talking about roasted vegetables (briefly) at work the other day over lunch, and someone was saying they roasted some celery & apparently it was gorgeous. I can't stand the stuff so it still didn't sound appealing, but thought it was an original idea.
RavyLesley - me me me me, I'm first in the queue for cakeGlad you had a good day.
Meeting a friend this morning to go out for coffee & cake and a bit of a catch-up; then home this afternoon. Hoping to get some sheets hung outside to dry - I LURVE my bed when it is all fresh & clean & smelling of fresh airThink I will roast a chicken when I'm back this afternoon too so we will have roast dinner (that's MSD putting that idea in my mind) and then I can make Chicken & Sweetcorn chowder for the weekend.
(((hugs))) to all those needing (or wanting) them. Take care.
EDIT: I've just spotted I've got a third star!!!!! Now I'm a SERIOUS moneysaver....:)Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Good Morning All
 Belated Happy Birthday to Ravesley
Friday today :j . Had a good day yesterday - made the best carrot cake - Remoska certainly makes it more moist, did some other housework & actually cleaned out my kitchen drawer - you know the drawer that you keep all 'stuff' in. Well have been avoiding doing it for ages, now it is organised and spotless.
Normally clean the whole house on a friday but as the kids are here it will more likely get a swish and swipe. Then off for lunch at our local buffet chinese. This afternoon will probably be spent ironing in front of the tv.
Wont need proper dinner tonight so will make some bread this morning and have sandwiches. Must check out the BM thread as I really want to try and soften the crust - off to do that now.
Have a great Friday.
x
MSD - havnt grown garlic before - I want to try garlic chives this year. Hope you hear from Tristan soon.0 -
Morning all,
Looks to be a nice day here, I have the wm on with dd's bedding, which I will hang out before work, dd is at home today with the dog, so she will hoover through and tidy for me.
Tea tonight will be stirfy so nice and easy, no prep there, we have my mum and dads dog coming for a sleepover tonight, m + d are off out for drinkies with friends, and tomorrow they are off to see new nephew in Guildford.
Got my front row seats for mastermind tonight, I will be cheering you on Annie xx
Sunny, i hope you dear dad continues to improve xx
Diva, I hope you have heard from Tristan by now x
Well better get on, off to work in a while, but finish early :T have good days all xx0 -
Morning all!
Talking about the price of inflation, OH and I are moving next month and we've been eyeing up a TV Unit in Next for about 6 months... went to order it online the other day and it's gone up from £199 to £250! I emailed them and they said it's due to the price of the £ against the Euro, yada yada yada, but by over 40%? RIDICULOUS. Needless to say we're getting one from Homebase instead. Crazy people!
Packed OH and myself off with packed lunches, and got chicken defrosting for a simple Chinese 5 Spice chicken salad for dinner, maybe with some Halloumi kebabs as have Halloumi and peppers in fridge. No washing to do for once so have had time to hang around online and change the TV license address, such fun.
Have a lovely day everyone x0 -

last day off before a long working weekend! Have already done some cleaning and had the fridge and cooker out for a clean. WM on, managed to do the ironing yesterday.
Am off to get my hair cut soon then later need to dye it so I dont look like a badger:eek:
Am making some butternut squash and sweet spud soup for lunch and getting some rolls from the local bakers to go with it as they taste better than my efforts:D
DS1 has his job interview today with one of our local radio stations so fingers crossed for him.
Hope you all have a great day, I'll pop back later
Take care xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all! :hello:
I hope those with troubles yesterday have a better time of it today :grouphug:
Diva - I hope Tristan logged on. Maybe it's good news... my fingers are crossed for both of you xxx
I agree with the others about prices going up, not down. Every time I do a supermarket shop it seems that 10p has gone on here, 5p on there. It all adds up! I still can't get over the fact that the 3k bags of pasta I used to buy for £1.20 (£1 if the students were around!) are now £3.85 - at least 50p of that has been added after wheat prices started to come down. But funnily enough, the small local farm shop and butcher's I use, who are less able to absorb the extra costs, charge about the same as they always haveI hate the supermarkets.
Dave didn't go up to his mum's last night, he's going this morning instead. I'll be spending the day batch-cooking I think, but first my Avon delivery is due. It feels like Christmas even though it's all for customers (although by ordering clever I have got a few extra bits free, I'm keeping them for customer incentives but we'll see how long that lasts when it all arrives!) I was going to plant the broad bean plantlets out but right now it's looking too chilly to consider.
Does anyone have a really good cheese sauce recipe they could share with me?
Hope everyone has a good day, hugs :grouphug: to all those who want or need one xxx0 -
Goood morning everyone!!! I hope everyone is well? After a couple of years gap I'm afraid I'm really behind with what is happening to everyone - and there seems to have been many changes!
I'm afraid in many ways I have fallen off the OS wagon (my pani hasn't been used for at least 6 months!)- but just the thought of logging in and taking a peak at the OS daily thread before it reaches 10+ pages gave me the incentive to get out of bed earlier than norm. Thank you guys! Allready I feel myself itching to start watching my money etc... who knows, maybe this will be the start of me getting back on the wagon?
It's lovely to see so many familiar names still around the board - it feels like coming 'home'. I just hope that I will be welcome.:o
I've missed you guys - even managed to lose touch with some of my bestest friends thanks to a bad bout of deression:( . Now I have to take a big gulp and hope that they'll understand.
Sorry - back to OS facts - I now have two half plot allotments, and a third to get chooks, garlic growing in pots out the garden and ermm...... still no idea what I'm cooking tonight, lol.
Anyways, no doubt in the half hour it's taken me to write this the page is now probably on page 10 (was still page one when I started). Best wishes to all - hello to everyone and I hope you all have a very good OS Friday xxxJanuary '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)
Someone burst my bubble and I lost the plot so no idea what I spent now...Other Jan :- Petrol £20.41, Clothes £8.50, House £3.I will try to work it out.

Hi all - some spare time because DH has gone off on a quote. It seems to be all quotes and no work at the moment.
Squiggly - thanks for asking. He's done lots of quotes - some private and some for firms, but the firms are paying less and less now and expecting more and more work, so we're hoping he gets the private ones. They're the best because the people are always appreciative and it usually leads to repeat work or recommendations. Anyway, fingers crossed.
I hoe everyone's day goes well today. The weather still looks dull but at least it's not cold.
Twink - did all that snow finally go? I showed DH the photos you posted and he couldn't believe it was still the UK!
Silvercharming - I'm glad others have noticed the ever-rising prices. They keep saying inflation is low but I'm sure the people doing the counting don't do a weekly food shop!
Tru - good luck with the cards. I'm sure they're fantastic. You're too hard on yourself.
Taplady - good luck to DS1 and thanks for the reminder about Anniestar tonight. I have it set to record so, if I get interrupted, I won't miss it.
Anniestar - I'll be cheering you on, too!
Well, WM is on and the hoover is plugged in so I should get a move on. Will call back later.

Morning!
Me too Anniestar!thanks for the reminder Redruby!:T (got some of the lotion you recommended - thanks!)
Ohhhh let me know how you get on with it, I swear by it. xx Good luck to your ds in his job interview xx
Silver, my cheese sauce, is very simple, I don't even measure, just do it all by eye, I put butter flour and milk in a pan all at the same time, and stir continually over a low heat, you MUST keep stiring otherwise it goes lumpy, I add a bit more of what ever it needs as I am going along, more flour to thicken or milk to dilute, once its at the consistancy I like i add a good strong grated cheddar, and any odd bits of cheese I have hanging around, stilton is a good one, then I add a t spoon of mustard, and one of wholegrain mustard ......voila not a technical recipe at all, but it works for me xx0 -
