Morning all
Am very glad it is Friday - what a long week!
Easy tea of egg and chips tonight (eggs from my own chickens)
Am really hoping to get out in the garden tomorrow... my allotment has now defrosted and I have garlic, onions and shallots ready to go in, and a herb bed to weed! Am wondering whether I should risk some early potatoes now, or wait for a few weeks more!
Have brough in spicy mexican mince and cornbread for my dinner today (leftovers from a couple of months ago). I love cornbread, so am looking forward to my lunch!
Just got to manage until 5pm.... :rolleyes:0 -

Does look very tasty! I wonder if it will freeze?! I might try making one today and freezing it.
And you were right about it being in loads of her books - three according to her websiteI only buy cook books if I can get them second-hand, but I still have a shelf-full! Actually, I do buy the river cottage handbooks new, but they don't count
I think it's a good recipe because it doesn't have cream in it and not much egg and milk.....it's all filling! I expect it would be quite adaptable too,"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I think the week has been a short one, but then I have been off work!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Csarina - that was very interesting about the Amish women, I'll check the library for the book.:TDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Yeah Kazonline and Moggins - we just need Queenie to reappear now!
Sorry and hugs to everyone else but it's lovely to see old friends popping up again.
Os this weekend - will be going to see DD tommorrow as it's her birthday on Monday (26 where has the time gone) we're going to browse Broadway Market for goodies - my favourite type of OS.
Then I've got all the washing, drying and ironing, batch cooking an baking to do. I'm finding that my week splits into two Monday to Friday when nothing OS gets done (apart from keeping the kitchen clean and cooking the evening meal) and weekends when I try to catch up.

Mioliere still some snow lying here though not on the roads its been quite mild lately and raining today but its great news for Aviemore as they havent had such a good winter in a long time
my latest find is lamb flank from the butcher about 3/4lb was just over £1 and made a big pan of lentil soup and the meat was put into stovies so will get that again
have managed to get the garden tidied, lots pruned as the weight of the snow had broken lots of branches just the greenhouse to clean out now
Ragu sauces still 2 for £1 in asda and a sp tin of tomatoes not far off 40p so its a good buy and the smartprice oranges four or five in the bag at 37p are great too very juicy
if you like ginger i boil peeled and sliced root ginger with the juice of a lemon and sugar for about 5-10 mins, let it stand overnight, strain and bottle and keep in the fridge, lovely with hot water and a little honey if you like it sweeter
welcome back Kaz
hugs to all who need one xx0 -

Good morning everyone,
I posted late last night but in case some didn't read I'll just say again enormous thanks to everyone who posted with prayers, thoughts & hugs yesterday :A :A :A It means such a lot to my family. I cried yesterday reading all the lovely posts yet also felt so uplifted by them all. Dad is now on the dedicated stroke ward where he'll get physio, speech therapy & any other support he needs. Visiting time is limited to 3pm - 4pm and 6.30pm - 8pm so it seems like a long time before we can see him today but I can catch up at home a bit. He waved goodbye to us last night & said 'hi' when we got there which was great. I cannot thank you all enough & I'm convinced that the prayers & positive thoughts are working.
Nobody ate the soup that I made yesterday morning so that's back on the menu for today with cheese on toast & fruit salad I think. I can prepare it all & leave it for everyone to help themselves. We women eh? Always thinking of our home routineWM been on twice I just have to put it all to dry, vac round & swish the bathroom.
The kids have been wonderful, I thought that we might have a 'wobble' with dd's bf but he's been great. I had a chat with him last night & explained that even though there's a lot going on right now he was still a member of the family & very much wanted here. He seemed happier after that.
((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) to everyone today & I hope that your days go well.

Morning, everyone.
SunnyGirl, I hope your Dad. I am glad your Dad is getting the support he needs. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
I have had a lazy start to the morning. I have a mountain of ironing to do. I need to make a start on it. I am meeting a frend for coffee this afternoon.
I can't believe that half-term is nearly over. I could have done with another week off. I was going to do some baking but I have only one egg left. My Asda shop comes tonight so will do some baking tomorrow morning. I have a friend coming for dinner tomorrow so I need to make a cheesecake for dessert.
I hope you all have a good day.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

Quick visit just to wish everyone well. I have to jobsearch today and on top of that I must study some stuff I got from Cafedirect. I am doing some voluntary work for them next Wednesday and as I am now also doing a 3 hour session tomorrow, I have to study a folder of promo stuff, FAQ's and press relases in case anyone who visits the Fair asks me any questions.
I have been trying to do this for days but next door seem to have discovered/bought a stereo (either that or its the moronic kid they have) and I cannot concentrate enough to be able to commit this stuff to memory as I think I might have to.
Still seething at the Post who have only delivered once this week. We get normally some post every day and not only are they causing me lots of extra turnaround time on my Lovefilm dvds, i havent got my trial for Tescos which was due to end yesterday and as it is the first one they have sent me since signing up last August, I am concerned that they will not choose me again.I hear that it is not unknown for them to store or hoard it up and then deliver it all in one go. The last few weeks we get like nothing and then one day it is like Santa's mailbox as the postie shoves 4 lots of several through. They are not meant to do this but as my flatmate said you will NEVER get them to admit they do it.
