I had my crumpets this morning and they don't taste right unless they're dripping with butter - real butter. I hate marg. Looks like i'm going to have to look out for these danger foods and just avoid having them regularly if it means i need to have them covered in butter / sugar / fat. I'd rather have something far less often and have it "right" than have a crap version.
I too hate marg and would eat far more toast if we had proper butter in, I have found that it helps not having it in for everyday, then if we are out for brekkie at the in-laws or town then I have toast with real butter then and really enjoy it.

I with you on the yakky marg! Hannah & Uropa I have a small tub of anchor spreadable in the fridge that is mine. No one else is allowed to use it, because the kids have too much marg, so they have to have flora as it's healthier, and frankly don't know the difference, as they've always had it.

I'm the same uropa, I just rather go without if I can't have it the 'normal' way, or can't fit it into my daily allowance. I have my crumpets as a snack, because they are quite low calorie, but instead of a scraping of anchor, I have a small scraping of low sugar jam (or fruit conserve). It does the job - just!

I found an article about foods for promoting breastmilk production that may be of interest:
These are foods to help increase breast milk production:
Brown Rice – contains B vitamins, selenium, iron, fiber and manganese.
Avocados – contains potassium, vitamin B6, and Pantothenic acid
    Beets – high in potassium
Carrots – high in vitamin C
Barley – high in phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin B6.
Dulse – a red algae high in B vitamins, iron, and potassium.
Kombu – edible kelp rich in glutamic acid, which is responsible of one of the five basic tastes.

The other main thing is to keep your fluid intake high, although it's proven to be a myth about drinking beer to increase it! Pah! Caffeine is shown to increase production, but too much is obviously a bad thing, for you and baby.

I absolutely loved feeding mine, and well done to you for keeping it up this long. I hated giving it up, and fed my youngest two boys until they were about 2. In fact the 2nd youngest was still feeding when I was pregnant with bubs no.4, and he was past 2 then! I'm pleased to say that despite all those years of feeding, my hooters still point in the right direction!:rotfl:

Katie - I picked up a pack of the Ryvita minis to try yesterday - I'm saving them for a treat! Oh how I've changed, it used to be cheesecake!:o

Somnium - I use Sainsbury's own, which is under £1 for a large jar, and have a click pack of hermesetas beside the kettle. I don't have sugar/sweetener in drinks, but my eldest son is a sugar monster, so only allow him sweetener, and it has definitely helped him curb his sugar intake. He'd have 4 spoons in a cup of tea if I let him! He has porridge every day now too, and only uses sweetener in it, and has 2/3 water to 1/3 milk like me too, and we only have 1% fat milk in the house and no one has noticed the difference.

Have a great time at the party tonight Hannah

Right, I'm off to hang the washing out in the sunshine, and also to look at paint swatches to choose a new colour for the front room. Later y'all!

    Hi LittleGemSaver!
Welcome to the thread. What have you been doing to try and eat better? Do you do any exercise? Some people find it helpful to post what they eat during each day. Others don't and just post how they are feeling with what they've eaten.
I am jealous of your MJ tickets mind!!! Jammy!

    Afternoon everyone!
Sun is still shining here!! Hope it stays like this for the weekend.
    Food today;
    B-Special K, Semi Skimmed Milk
    S-NONE-trying to cut them out!
D-Baked pot, 1/2 tin tuna, mayo, sweetcorn, tomatoes, red pepper and red onion
    S-Either apple or banana
T-Pasta with Turkey and Bacon Bits, Arrabiata sauce

Trying to stop eating cereal bars on the mornings and keep fruit snack for the afternoon.

Didn't do any exercise last night, have got back pain, and think I should let it rest. Me and Andy are going to do Davina Super Fit tonight though, and then tomorrow we're going for a looooonng bike ride. It is the practise one to see how long it will take me to ride to/from work.
Uropachild, you are making my mouth water with the thought of dripping buttery crumpets!!! Yummmmm
Somnium I use a slenda type sweetner too, it's not splenda but it's the same thing, think it's about 89p at home bargains for big jar, forgotten the name sorry, it's great for adding to porridge! I don't have sugar in my tea, but up until about a week ago used to have it in my coffee, and coffee whitener too!! Which ups the calories! Not that I drink coffee very often, I rarely drink it, maybe two cups a week. But now when i have one I use milk and no sugar, and it's fine!!
Good LUCK for the rest of the day everyone

BB three pieces of fruit a day? I eat loads more than that. The calorie counting website I'm using calculates the 5-a- day based on the weight of fruit and veg you eat and generally I eat between 10 and 15 portions ... about half veg and half fruit. Mind you, sometimes I explode.

Still, I believe some people actually eat raw swede.:rotfl:

Oh I eat bucket of fruit granny and loads of bananas, but I just wanted to try an see if I could cut back a little: I think becasue it is generally good for you, i am eating some because it is there, rather than because I am hungry IYSWIM. I also think the quantity of bananas mightn't help the weight loss. So it's just a short term experiment (which might help cash flow too). However, I have just bought a punnet of plums, so they'll last all of 5 mins I should think. Fruit ot me is like a box of choc to others.
    Also bought a couple more swede:D .

I'm another marg/flora hater - it's got to be butter (especially on crumpets) so I rarely have it in the house except for cake making(for OH), for which I freeze it in suitable portions. I do have a lge tub of splenda but always feel slightly uncomforatble using it, being such a highly manufactured product, but I do use it. I'm trying to avoid bread at the moment with my current focus on wl.

I'm off in about half an hour for a 1-1 pilates lesson:A . If I like it, this lesson should be enough for me to join her beginners class that has been running 3 weeks, just down the road at 9a.m.( )Sat morning, i.e. tomorrow. Will report back.

kpc - sounds good that they want your OH back - all helps the coffers.
big welcome littlegem - just post away and join in: feeling part of the group really helps with focussing on your weight loss plan - it's much harder on your own.
andy(roberts) - your d-i-y-post atkins low carb sounds good. Sounds like you've worked out what works for you. Good louck with your remaining loss:T
Hannah - hard boiled eggs are a very good idea. Have a good time to night.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Hello LittleGem, welcome to the thread!

We're all trying to adjust our eating habits, which is mainly why we all ended up here in the first place! Are you following a particular plan, or just cutting back?

I'm trying to keep to a low carb/low fat/low sugar diet - most of the time! I've also cut down my portion sizes, and I think this has had huge impact on my loss this time around (been doing this for years on/off). It's definitely helped, and I'm trying to train myself to recognise when my hunger is satisfied, and stop eating, and not feel guilty throwing food away. I come from a 'waste not, want not' family!

Keep posting, and join in with us. We chat about our food, exercise, lives, kids, toilet functions:eek: you name it! Which reminds me, BB, don't plums have a swift journey through you? I seem to recall my mum warning me about too many at once when I was a kid.

I've just spent an hour or so out in the garden doing some weeding - it's so much more enjoyable when the sun is shining!

Well one of OH's business associates called earlier to say he was working an hour away from our house so he would come by and pick up some stuff that was due to be posted to him and sort some stuff out with OH. Very practical, and makes sense. However I had planned the whole of tomorrow for cleaning the house which I have let get in a state whilst I have been working, oh and I was in the shower at the time so not even dressed and only given an hours notice. Still, my house is now sparkling clean! Right gotta rush off to walk the dog, will be back later to catch up.
