DMV Thats wonderful. Where are you going on holiday this year?

My dad lives in London but has a place in spain so we are going there again (he will be at home so just the two of us). Its an hour from the airport, but price wise its only a little more to hire a car so thats what we do. Flights and car hire for just over two weeks is £450 and its such a nice place that to go anywhere else would cost us loads more and probably not be as nice. We are pretty careful with money and in no way extravagant but I love/NEED my holiday once a year so we tend to spend a lot when we are away and eat/drink out every night! I know its off topic and not very MSE but I'm answering a question so please let me off!

With regard to making sure you dont feel patronised you will have to excuse me. At uni we have to be so politically correct and careful what we say. For example if you say someone is suffering from a back problem it can be linked to the medical model of disability which suggests that its their problem and that they are less of a person/ outcast! Instead you have to say someone is experiencing a back problem. It doesnt bother me personally but it can really offend some people. In some ways I think its stupid but without those activists that fought for disabled peoples rights the world would be a very different and bleak place for those with disabilities.
Wow, i had no idea about any of this. My first response, was how ridiculous, but on second thoughts, I know words can be powerful and carry historical weight and meaning, so I can see why the perhaps OTT push for 'correct' language actually is the only way to effect positive change and for that to filter down til it is the norm. So thanks for that explanation very much.

Well done re the chocolate. That's why sticking around onthi board is good. It does help either keep the focus, or bring it back. That's why I stick around - haven't been doing s well recently, but being here helps me keep in touch until I am ready for another 'push' IYSWIM.
Oh and your holioday was on tpoic - you mentioned 'going out and eating a lot':rotfl:

JJ rodger - thank for the 3g hoop info: I am slightly tempted. Would any of you exercise peeps confirm that as a principle, using a hoop would work on stomach muscles?

Marion - if you don't show soon, I'm sending the St Benerd out to look for you. :D(And to a St B, charlie will me a light mid morning snack...)

Hang on to the dog BB, I am here:D Have been lurking a bit but posting a little on the Old Style weight loss. Here is a copy of my latest - just to save me retyping!

Afternoon everyone, eating today has so far gone to plan, I am having another green day. Yesterdays plan (as above) was good, ate everything on my list and nothing extra untill about 9pm when I somehow managed to have a large scotch (followed by 2 more) and at least 10 chocolates from the many boxes my daughter received from her students for her birthday:o (She has now whisked them upstairs so out of sight and out of mind for me:o)

Today I am making an effort to be extra good to make up for last night. My plan is:

B - bacon and eggs on toast
    s - plums
L - last of the pasta bake take out of freezer yesterday
    s - yogurt
D - southern style quorn fillets with McCain rustic chips - this is very good for me because I am making sausage and mash for my daughter at her request, and I love sausage and mash - not talking quorn here you understand:p. This dinner will be followed by one piece of birthday cake with ice cream. I will ask the birthday girl to take the rest upstairs or make sure it all gets eaten! How sad am I?:rotfl:

Have a good day every one

He's actually away to train to do the 10k marathon here in Aberdeen (it's in 2months!) so he's off to get properly fitted for running shoes, he's going to some shop that film you running on a treadmill, then see how your feet etc lands, so you get the best fitting shoe.
Wow...that sounds good! Very professional, wish I was able to afford to get that done, do you know how much it costs? Something to think about later perhaps...if my running becomes a regular thing
I had my first run in my trainers I bought from ebay today, and they were very comfortable. I'm pleased with them. Andy is pleased with his too...so double bonus!
We are buying the amir khan fight to watch tonight, so it's going to be a late one, so if anyone is kicking about after midnight, I will probs be here!
JJrodger thanks for the info on the 3G hula hoop, I asked my andy to take a look with me at them on the website, and he didn't seem convinced. Mind I'm a sucker for being sold to! So do you find you see results around your tummy when you use this? A friend of mine has got one, and she says she ends up bruised after using it...this has kind of put me off. Then i thought maybe she's bought the wrong weight, cos theres a selection of beginner, inter, advanced. Hmmm, still wondering about it though.
Good Luck for the rest of the day people!

Oh they don't charge you for doing that it's part of the service, you could get it done and leave but that would maybe be a bit cheeky hehe.

Well he got some running shoes for £67, that was with a 10% discount, he needed some slightly supportive shoes as he has slightly flat feet or low arches, something like that!

They look quite cool the ones he has chose, white and electric red, I was suprised at how light they are too!

Now if they do them in pink maybe I can be persuaded.....

Beanie - really sorry to hear you falling more and joints suffering. I think sometimes classes are essential: look at as MSE in that it is an investment in your health and well being and that's priceless. Good luck with it
