but then my younger brother got married and it was a lark...he had his guests pay a deposit to attend his wedding!

Polkadot that bit lept out at me.... what's the story there? I've never heard of guests being asked for money to attend a wedding

Annie of course you are still welcome here, this is a team effort and we're not in competition with each other for the biggest losses :) What's important is looking after our health and moving towards our own targets (or maintaining) in a way that suits us. Good luck with your new approach, I hope you get the results you want!

Will there ever become a time when I could do something every night though? I don't like to leave days out because I feel like I get out of sync...and I know I shouldn't but I do feel guilty for not exercising.

Andyslinz in my opinion no matter how strong your exercise ethic is, exercising every day is a wasted effort if you don't give your body chance to fully recover. The amount of recovery you need will depend on the effort you've put in, and your fitness level (as you become fitter, recovery times will shorten).

If you have a set daily time for your workouts then what about using it once a week for exercise reading/reviewing/planning instead of an actual workout? It could be the most useful session of the week if it helps improve the quality and efficiency of the other six? :)

weighed in this morning and have lost another 2.2lbs making total lost now 16.4lbs. Got measured this week and have now lost in total, 2.5" off bust, 3" off hips, 5" off waist, 1.5" off upper arms and 2" off my thighs. Bought some work trousers in a size 16 yesterday as my others were falling off (18's).:j

Thanks for asking Beanie. This is only the third week - week one only got half a day as I was too busy with meetings, last week I had Wednesday off and it was FANTASTIC, this week I'm taking Friday. I think a mid week day is best but I have to fit in with what's going on at school. I had a goodthink about what I wanted to do with the extra time adn decided itwas more exercise, more granddaughter and a slower pace on that day. I've manged all of those and it's felt like a holiday! The payslip's a bit depleted but the improvement in quality of life makes up for it. :j :j :j

Great stuff Bindi

1 jelly baby = 22 cals
mid pm - apple

Do you all weigh daily out of curiousity too? I can't help but jump on the scales in a morning, some people say you shouldn't but others say to weigh daily.... just wondering

Also has anyone had hypnotherapy to aid weightloss effort? I don't think it has really helped me with the eating but it has done wonders for helping me get to sleep on a night ;)

Weighing daily helps me stay on track. I don't panic if it's up a little one day and try not to exult :j too much if it's down but it helps me to pick up a trend before it gets out of control. NOT weighing every day is why I put some of my original loss back on. :(:(

I had hypnotherpay some years ago to try to lose weight; it didn't work at all although I was very good at being hypnotised! I think that the reasons we over eat are too complex for the way hypnotherpay works ... but I'd agree that for sleeping it can be great. Hypnotherapy is basically just a way of helping you to be really relaxed and accept suggestion. Horses for courses I guess - might be fine for some people.

Victory not a nice way to start the day! Hope you’re feeling better now.
Missy I like the idea you gave to Andyslinz about a planning session-think I might try that. The story . My brother (actually my stepbrother) still lives in South Africa...when my dad and stepmum moved to the coast to start the business last year they didn’t want to sell our house just incase. My brother and his girlfriend were about 23 and just starting up (she was still studying) so my dad offered to let them stay in the house. Rent free, just maintain it. When we got the wedding invitations they included a bank account number, so I asked my stepmum what it was about. She explained that the bride and her family had offered to pay for the wedding but were imposing all kinds of conditions (the date for example). At some point during the planning process they realised they couldn’t manage the deposit so they asked my dad for help. He turned them down because they were not paying rent and had not kept their end on the maintenance. And my dad had gone home to do a walk through and discovered he had moved other friends in and was charging them rent. The brides mother decided that it would be a novel idea to have guests pay a deposit of R150 each on accepting the invitation. It was then “agreed” that if you wanted the deposit back after the wedding you could leave a note on the day saying so...or it would be assumed you had offered your deposit as a wedding gift! A registry was listed for a local homewares store also. I couldn’t believe that anyone would accept the invite and then on the day they slapped everyone harder by revealing they had 6 bridesmaids and 6 groomsmen-all clothed from the budget! They went to Cape Town for their honeymoon for three weeks and then came home and told dad they had to move out of the house as they couldn’t afford to maintain it and he needs to make other arrangements.
Bindiboo Well done you-what do you plan to do with your old brookes to mark the occasion?
1Hannah and Katie I know what you mean about the drinking to fill you up. I’ve bought a water bottle which holds a litre and I keep it filled with water and sip on it when I crave. I also now alternate my normal every day tea with green tea or ginger and lemon depending on the time of the day. They have less calories and alot of other benefits to do with digestion. I’ve only been doing it this week-but I have noticed the difference. I have actually been able to stick to my planned meals.
1Hannah I think I speak for most of the posters here that every day is a no no. When I first started (the last time round) I was also tempted, and everyone called me naughty. I must admit though that I think doing it every day demotivated me more because I couldn’t really see the changes.
This morning I had my special K before playgroup-which was a round trip of two miles. I had some vegetable soup when I got home and DF is planning beef and vegetable skewers tonight-still need to call and ask what I should put it in for him. I got a letter about my DLA application yesterday-asking me to send them my passport so that they could verify my citizenship. I called and said I’d prefer not to do this as well...it’s my passport...and I only have one. I was told I could take it to my local job centre plus and they could verify it for me. When I got there this morning I was told “well we aren’t allowed to do this anymore but I will in this instance! It’s such a lark isn’t it. Whats worse is Im not applying for the money, but because it seems its the only way I can get a blue badge to use on the bus when I need to.
