Hello alll, sorry I have been missing in action the last couple of days been busy, yesterday was lunch with a couple of friends and the kids and had fish & chips were lush now I know that that sounds quite bad but for me there are several positives, I only ate 1/4 of my chips and left 1/4 of my fish, the other thing is that both my friends had giant puds and I resisted!! yay, small steps but in the right direction I think.
Hope everyone else is well, well done with your loss this week Purple!

    Hiya, I'm back!

I had a lovely day with all 3 of my sisters today. We bought my eldest a lovely Coalport figurine named after her, and also a £50 voucher to her local beauty parlour for a bit of pampering. She was quite overwhelmed by it all, and loved it. We went to a lovely little local country pub near her, and the choice on the menu was gorgeous, and sooooo tempting! I think the God of Diets was looking over me though, because all 3 of my sisters happened to have another meal organised to go out to tonight (I know! get them and their social lives!), so they decided to choose more from the bar snack menu, only my teenage neice who was with us chose a main meal (& dessert), so I was able to choose something to fit in with what I wanted to eat. I chose the ham ploughmans, left half the bread, ate all the salad, left 1 slice of ham (it was super thick, chunky slices carved off the bone). When we got back to my sister's she offered profiteroles, which others had, but I spied some fresh fruit salad of melon, kiwi & mango, so I had that with a cuppa. I am pleased I was able to have things that were lovely and tasty, and didn't feel I was going without at all.

I came home a bit late, and still wanted to have some dinner, but OH hadn't saved me any of the pasta he'd made for him & the boys, so I've had to make do with more french stick, and a bit of veg quiche, that my sister sent me home with as a doggy bag! Damage limitation will have evened that out I imagine, and I'd just had my usual porridge for b/fast.

dmv, I love Sainsbury's own chunky veg & chicken, or beef soups. Super scrummy, super filling too, 59p and about 200cals per tin. They're so filling they're almost like a stew - my OH was eyeing them up when he was off work!
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

WIth regards the dog, when we had one on loan my sis was horrified I went out and left it:rolleyes: she is very much that the person should be left inside the house with the dog at all times and if not then get a sitter to care for the dog:rolleyes: I am not so sure a dog cannot be left alone at all but she is:rolleyes: there are many a person that work full time but she won't hear of it, the dog is not to be left:rolleyes:

elec was £50 now gone up to £60 because of the massive bill that came in and gas £50 stayed the same because we were gas rich but elec poor:rotfl: I was just annoyed they let it go for 6 months before they write to you and then it drops on the mat you pick it up innocently and there and then the day is ruined:rolleyes:

:T well done sary & hannah for your own versions of damage limitation that suit were you are at the mo:T . Great news about the jeans too sary, and glad you had a lovely time with your sisters
dmv -you seem to be doing well with your meals again and finding a bal that is working: you had a great loss this week:T . It is tough when 'family things' rear their heads I agree: life can be difficult enough with out extra hassles.

andy - I think it was very MSE to sell your old jeans. I think MSE embraces the concepts of simplifying and moving on/cutting negative ties with the past.
Kpc I'd love a poodle too and I am so not a pom pom kinda gal: I've known 2 poodles, both with close cropped hair and they are rather adorable.

Victory - you are being an exellent maintainer! I know you would like
to see off these 3 lbs, but you are doing well. Hope you are feeling a little better now and are still looking after yourself. Sometimes stopping is the only way. I know you like to be busy and active which makes it doubly hard. No one could ever accuse you of sitting back and not bothering.

Well done Purple V & FFM on your weigh loss.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Evening all, nice losses again :) Done super fit and super abs tonight, so i don't feel so grumpy :p

Don't get me started on gas and electric prices, ours have nearly doubled yet our usage is the same, we pay £52 for both, we used to pay £35 for both and thats not enough as we are in debt. I just read our price drop we've been waiting for is 3%  I think i'll invest in more solar panels, in summertime we use them to power/charge our laptop, run all the downstairs lights and the router for the internet, we use an average of 6kwh a day on cooking/fridge etc :) The new fridge freezer only uses 500w a day its super good A+ :D OH suggested setting up a bike to charge the batteries so i guess that's weight loss related ;)

Had to laugh at this because my sister is coming from Canada next month and she will have a fit when she sees how we treat Charlie! We do almost everything we shouldn't do (in her books). He gets his own food but also gets bits from our plate when were eating, he is allowed on the furniture, he sleeps in our bed and if we are going out for more than an hour or so and it is impossible to take him (very rare), we arrange for him to go to a neighbours for a play date with her dog! If we go to Tesco together for instance my husband will wait in the car with Charlie while I do the shopping (actually this saves me loads of money and time;)).

My sisters dog is not allowed in the house, I have never seen her walk him (big big yard) and all he ever gets to eat is the same old dog food everyday. When I go to visit I slip him doggy treats much to her disgust:rotfl::rotfl:

I have wanted a dog for years, we had a much beloved Corgi when the children were young, but when we moved to England and I was working full time it just wasn't possible and had to make do with cats and hamsters. When I retired the first thing I thought of was finding me a dog!

I havn't been posting much lately as things have been so hectic but things are settling down now so hopefully will delurk and post more!

    Love

Marion our dog gets scraps and some sort of treat most days (pigs ears etc) and is always on the furniture! She sleeps in the kitchen though, she is spoilt enough without getting a chance to hog the bed! Thanks for the nice comment BB but OH may have talked me into a curry last night...!I did leave half of it though (and threw it away!) and am thinking that a few light days should hopefully counteract it. Its a nice day so I will get some good dog walking in, and then of course make time for uni work...sigh.

    Morning All,

I'd been wondering where you'd got to Marion, you lurker you!

We always had dogs when I was a child, we had a poodle and a dachshund. My parents both worked, although my mum did p/t hours, or shift work until I was in my teens, but our dogs seemed more than able to cope with being left at home alone. Our dachshund was also incredibly lazy, and I remember taking her out for walks, and turning round to find I was dragging an empty lead! I'd walk back home to find her sat on the doorstep with a very guilty look on her face. She seemed more happy to race around the back garden, than go out to the park. Perhaps they just had good personalities suited to being at home? The dachshund also loved the catflap to fly in and out of! They were both female, so I wonder if that helped?

I have never felt it appropriate to get a dog while I've had the children so young, although my eldest son did hanker after one for years. I felt that as I did absolutely everything else, being a single mum for a long time, it was another responsibility and potential worry to be taking on. Now I'm looking forward to getting a dog in the future, as is my OH. I'd love a Great Dane, but practically, they'd be too big, even if we do live in the countryside for great walks. I've done some research, and would really like a Wheaten Terrier, and OH wants an Airedale or Schnauzer. We think getting two will be nice for company for each other. At the moment we make do with my rehomed cat, 5 goldfish, a rabbit and a guinea pig!

    Well done ffm!

No roast dinner to do today, which is a bit of a relief! It will be back on plan today, so meal plan is:

B - porridge (had it, and was yum)
    L - chunky veg & beef soup
D - grilled chicken, veg (I'm making the children curry)

My 15 y/o is in the kitchen at the moment making one of his spectacular sponge cakes! Arrrggh! Thankfully they all eat the cake so fast it won't be around for too long to tempt me!
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
