    Wise words from Victory there.

AndysLinz, this thread definitely works for me to keep me on track, and let me know I'm not alone. We all have 'blip' days (some of them last several days!), and for me knowing other's have times when they struggle more than others, makes me realise I'm only human, and I don't beat myself up so much!

Today I'm having an 'I feel better about myself' day - is that just because I'm a fickle woman, or could the sunshine be helping? I'm also feeling happy to have slipped back into a pair of my old jeans, which the label says is size 14!! yay! Yes, there's a bit of muffin top, but I'm not feeling uncomfortable in them. In the first week or so of the new year I couldn't even get the button and hole to meet! I was horrified! 2 years ago I was comfortably in these jeans. So, today is another milestone, and has spurred me on to tackle the next 7lb with renewed gusto!

I spent 1hr 30 mins on the Wii, but kept it to lower impact work, balance and gentle cardio. I feel happier for having done something.

Tomorrow I have to encounter my first meal out, where I don't know the venue, or what might be on the menu. It's my eldest sister's 60th birthday, and we're taking her out to lunch, but she lives 100 miles from me, so another sister has chosen the venue for us. I'll not want to appear to be obviously dieting though, so want to make discreet choices. I know to avoid the chips, deep fried, and creamy sauces, but does anyone have any tips? I imagine it will be a nice pub or bistro kind of place, but definitely not a Harvester type of place (sister is rather well off, and probably doesn't know they exist - unlike me)!

skit, protein shakes that are the most effective contain high whey content. I know Holland & Barrett do their own, but my OH gets his cheaper off an ebay seller. Congratulations on making your own milestone. I remember how I felt hitting 15, then 20 mins jogging non-stop. I have never run before. I did find it aggravated my knees, and then I was unable to run for months.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

Sary - No idea what you could choose if it's somewhere fancy, the fanciest place I've been to was a very expensive Indian Restaurant, and you can't really have healthy choices there. I was aghast that they were charging £7 for boiled rice and they took it over in a bowl, spooned a few spoons on my plate and then left, I was like  Where's me rice! Mind you, we were all stuffed to the brim afterwards and it was great service but I could of bought a 10kg bag of basmati rice for the price of their 3 tablespoons of rice!

I really can't control myself when we go out to eat, yesterday I said I was going to have the salad, but when you look at the menu it's like I DONT WANT THAT, so I didn't :o I don't wanna pay for lettuce. Bad me.

I had a sneaky peek at the scales this morning and am VERY pleased with the results it's showing :D I'll be happy if it stays like that for Mondays official WI, of course, I wouldn't say no if my body decided to let itself loose a bit more!

Well done on fitting in your size 14's Sary! That was one of the goals I set myself when I first joined this thread, and hopefully will be in them within the next few weeks.

Anyone know if avacado and smoked salmon is calorific? I LOVE them both, it's like heaven in my mouth. I know avacado is quite high in (good!) fats. But surely salmon isn't too bad? It's still raw, and look at all them Celebs that eat nothing but aduki beans and sushi - Thin as a rail!
  • Actually, sunshine may well be a reason for feeling chipper. It's because humans need sunlight to produce a vitamin (D I think) and that's why loads of people feel sad and depressed during wintertime. It's actually called Seasonal Affected Disorder.

Myself, I feel grand on days like today, like I could go out and run and not stop, which means today I hit the gym like I mean it :D

After a big fracas with Paypal a few years ago I've sort of gone off ebay, but I'll check out holland and barrats.

I miss running. As a teenager I was an avid runner, and even scored pretty well on my schools track team (well, we didn't have a 'track' team per se, but when we were on the field we could do whatever we wanted so I ran) Unfortunately a few years ago while taking a shortcut I misjudged a ledge and took an 8 foot drop onto my left leg. I didn't actually break anything (by the grace of one god or another) but it left me more or less unable to run long distances.

I'll check out the protein shakes on my way into town today. thankies.
Proud to have dealt with my debts!

SkittyOnWailord It is vitamin D that you get from the sun. We come from South Africa, and when my son and I first arrived...I got depressed and he stopped eating. After a few trips to the GP we got in to see a Zambian doctor. The first thing he did was put DS on Abidec and me on supplements. My depression got a bit better and then later I was diagnosed with clinical depression, but DS started eating again. It turned out that because he was in the swimming pool most days and we were always outside back in SA, our vitamin D levels dropped that significantly.
Which brings me to a message for Andyslinz if you are feeling this way, make sure you stick to the board-even if only one visit a day. Like sarymclary and victory say, it will keep you grounded whether your down days are days or weeks. I was doing really well and then I let my visits here slip. So now I'm commited to coming in at least once a day.
sarymclary and Katie I know cake wrecks well:) Although I would prefer not to be noticed by Jenny:) If you want to have a look at my cakes, they are all on my blog and you can follow too if you like. I try to update it at least once a week and every time I do another cake.

I've had a WONDERFUL day today. Special K for brekkie, a cheese and onion sandwich for lunch and a shake just now. I overdid it on the walking though and I think I'll be taking a few codiene tabs later (we left home at 09H30 and got back at 16H30) we went to playgroup in the morning, and then spent the afternoon at the park with two friends and their terrible twos. it must be the sun-I had my shoes off and was climbing the gladiator run with the kids:)

My day yesterday was bad...not so much in the sense that I was bad with food, I don't know, I just think I was having a "bad" day. I felt ugly and unattractive and fat...I needed to find some confidence!

Andyslinz - I'm willing to bet the people that matter in your life (friends & family) wouldn't even think to judge you on 'attractiveness' just like you don't do the same to them. Strangers opinions don't count. No need to be so hard on yourself :)

Back from my days expedition and very tired so won't stop for long but had to say:woohoo1.gifgreat to see you back polkadot:D . Well done for a good day today. And yes, I'd be very interested to hear about your cake business - I love making cakes for people though I don't like them myself. But I don't go in for decoration but love looking at well done create cakes. Must hunt out that site on facebook.
