    Hi everyone

    Food today was:
    • Vitality breakfast
    • Oven chips and one piece of baked fish for lunch
    • Chicken and potato casserole for supper
    • a few cups of tea with sweetner
Total calories=1382 (yes I logged my food today;) )
    I also walked to playgroup.
Got a letter from DWP saying they had sent a request to my gp for a report...I assume thats a good thing since it wasnt an outright no.
Do you remember the little girl downstairs? I still dont know what happened that second day, but she knocked last night saying the childminder didnt want her anymore (Im fuzzy on the details) but would I look after her for the summer? Now, she was saying she'd like to pay me what she was paying the minder but then she said she had been paying £50 a week. She works for a hotel cleaning (discovered this from LL) and the husband is in jail for abuse. I talked to DF and he was saying quite frankly for now-having her here is good for DS so I should have her pay for expenses only.
This morning when she brought her up-she said the last few days she had been saying DS name and talking. Today-she talked loads (shes three and was still baby babbling two weeks ago). Her mum said to me that she feels in the last few days she has been learning and she was at peace about her today.
I loved having her here...and DS ate chicken nuggets! He hasnt eaten a meal in a week-and has not eaten chicken since I was able to feed him puree. He also had chips and a pot of yoghurt AND a bowl of fruit at PG-and its 20H30 now and hes fast asleep! In his bed! So what Im saying is I think it might be good for all of us-except I now need to get a buggy board. There is NO WAY I can walk them everyday like I did today...it was the only horrid thing about my day.

Polka - that's really touching. Sounds like that mum and little girl really need you, so it's wonderful that you feel able to help out without feeling under pressure and for it to be so benefitial for your DS. Could you try freecycle for a buggy board?
Kpc, welcome back, did the right side win?
Been eating a little off piste today, by choice but nothing too wild: allowed myself a kitkat and olive oil to cook my potato wedges this evening:D

Beanie - I hope it goes OK tomorrow for you. I also hope you thoroughly enjoyed the choccie!

nmm - does the Tae Bo really get your heart racing? I could do with a new DVD or two but I'd be after something ultra high-intensity, not for the faint hearted type stuff - what do you think? :)

    Evenning all,

Have just had a quick catch up, but it's a flying visit. I'm off to Liverpool tomorrow to visit my best friend & goddaughter, so may not report in for a bit - although I will try to get online when I can. I've been out shopping this evening so that I can take my healthy snacks & low fat foods with me. I've spoken to her this evening and sounds mega stressed with lots going on in her life. We started the year off as 'diet buddies' and our plan was to both try to lose 2 stone by this week, I've lost 21lb (actually, as of this morning it's more like 23lb) and tonight she's warned me that she's put on weight! I really feel for her, and know how hard it can be, but I also feel a bit guilty for going up there 2 dress sizes smaller than I was when I saw her on New Year's Eve. I know that's silly, and she'll be really happy for me, but does that make sense? I've tried to be supportive of her, have texted in weight loss/STS/gain, etc with her each week, as we do here, and emailed along the way to let her know how I'm getting along, general supporting stuff. I hope once I've seen her I can encourage her to continue to try for the rest of the year with me, but from a health point of view she really needs to do it.

Anyhoo, I gotta get to bed now. Will post before I leave tomorrow lunchtime.

Had a good 'on plan' day today, and been busy as usual.

    Food:
    B - banana
    L - banana 2 x wholemeal bread
    snack - 1/2 pkt snack a jacks
D - bolognese & wholewheat pasta (small plate portion)

I have been too busy to even feel hungry today, and I defnitely can detect a shift from beforehand I was eating just because I like eating, whereas now I'm eating because there's a genuine hunger, and then I stop because I am no longer hungry, not because I'm full. I do hope that lasts.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

POLKADOT - Are you saying you have already said no to the offer of money but are now reconsidering? If thats the case then maybe you could tell her that you think you may have underestimated the extra "work" involved in looking after another child, and think that a good compromise would be for her to pay you say £40 instead of the £50 she was paying so financially you would both be better off, and that money will allow you to have some good summer outings (as victory said) and also some more fun stuff at home eg arts and crafts supplies. That way all parents benefit financially and both kids benefit in company, progression (language and food!) and more fun things than you could normally afford/want to spend and more than she would "get" from a childminder?
