BB - somehow I couldn't feel the 'divine' part about the chicken livers, but maybe that's just me? :) Over the years I have taken more notice of how my body reacts to foods. I know that despite loving the taste of something, sometimes once it hits my digestive system it can be a nightmare. Onions & peppers are the same, which I love, but don't love me. I had recurrent bouts of candida a few years back, and was told that bread & yeasty foods can make it worse, or stop it going away, and that was true too. I used to eat baked beans almost daily as a teenager & thru' my 20's, but then I ate them less frequently, and now they just plain hurt! Strange how our bodies change with time.

Victory - I hope you're feeling better soon. I second what BB says about Imodium; my GP said the same about it holding onto toxins. I tend to only use anything like that if I have to be away from home, and I have an upset tummy (ie. can't get near the loo). The most I'll use is something like milk of magnesia, or Kaolin & morphine to stop the pains. The body is a marvellous machine for healing itself where possible, and I wholeheartedly agree with letting matters take their course in about 95% of illnesses. Well done for managing to eat for your insulin.

So, my tummy feels back to normal again now, thankfully. I didn't eat until lunchtime, just to give it a chance to balance itself out. I've had plenty of fluids today too.

    Food today:
    B - none
L - chunky veg & beef soup + pack of snack a jacks (300 cals)
    D - warm chicken salad (400)

I've had under my calories today, but that's mainly because I missed breakfast. I enjoyed what I had, and the tummy is calm, which is most important.

I got out in the garden this afternoon, shifted a load of soil, and also carried a large boot load of boxes into the shed. It wasn't a huge workout today, but it worked up a sweat, which is good. I've had a less busy weekend, but next week looks to be busy again, so I'm merely conserving my energies.

Oooh, I forgot to mention yesterday, but when my sister popped round on Friday with the kids' easter eggs, the first thing she said to me was 'you look like you've lost a lot of weight!' - now from my sister that's high praise indeed - last time I lost 2 stone she didn't mention it once (I'd gone from a size 18 to a size 14 that time). One of my teenage lads noticed last week too, and it's nice to know that the hard work is finally noticeable. The BF has noticed too ;) *ahem* but that's just making me run faster! :rotfl:

PM - a good idea using the rower, and I understand that you have areas you want to target (don't we all?) I'm not sure how to advise you on the dietary needs, because your foods are rather different from how I eat. I think you just need to ensure you are getting a good broad base of your basic nutrients, and ensuring your body is regularly fuelled properly. I wonder if anyone knows of a suitable website for you to look on? I found this one: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm I would say that provided you are keeping your calorie intake to a certain level, you could well eat whatever fits in with your needs, with sensible portion control. Missy calculates her BMR (basal metabolic rate = what your body needs to fuel itself resting, before exercise) against the calories taken, and exercise done. You can calculate that here: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

Keep posting, and let us know how you're getting along :)

Sary - Where do you get that chunky beef & veg soup? It sounds good. I'm sure I have some Chunky veg soup from Asda in the cupboard but it just doesn't appeal to me!

I made some soup today - It was one BIG sweet potato, 4 carrots, a medium'ish butternut squash and 2 onions and 2 veg stock cubes. It's one of my fave soups, nice and sweet, but not overly so. I've had 2 big bowls today, and I'm not sure what the calories in it would be? Not HIGH presumably? Also munched toast with it (fat moo I am) and a handful of sour cream pringles, don't think I've went over 1500calories today though - Unless each bowl is about 500calories - EEEK!

I tell you though, cutting up that sweet potato and squash gave my arms a good work out, who needs Davina :p

Has anyone got any tips to disguise the fact I smoke in my house? I know it's dirty dirty, but I live on the 8th floor and it's not really in a desirable area, lifts are always broke or swimming in peepee, so you can see why I smoke IN the house, I do normally keep it confined to the kitchen with the window open, because it's the only room sectioned off from the rest of the house. Anyhow, I've got those people visiting my house on Wednesday morning, so I'm thinking liberal amounts of febreeze over the furniture to get SOME of the stink out, windows wide open, candles everywhere? I know I won't be able to eradicate the smell, but just to dim it down a bit.

I am actually TRYING to quit, I'm decreasing my cig amounts every few days, I used to smoke 25-30 a day
I'm now on about 12-14, so it's better, not fab though, and I've also resorted to roll ups to save some money as it is REALLY expensive and if we get this house swap, we will be paying out an extra £100/£120 a month in bills like rent/CT/Gas, so it would make up the shortfall, plus I wouldn't wanna stink up that new house.

NMM - She looks completely different! Well done to her. Such a shame her mother let her get to that size though.

Hi all. I agree with Buttons that girl does look completely different and its a fantastic achievement. The only thing I will say is it must be a bit easier in that sort of environment with the lack of major temptation and lots of support. I always think the same with programmes like the biggest loser etc.

Dinner was divine, and filled me up without feeling stuffed. I can't believe I can say this but... I FINISHED MY ESSAY! God knows how I got so much done today, but I got on a roll and I actually had some interest in what I was reading and writing about, which helped. The next essay on the otherhand, well! Ive done half of it already but its come to a complete standstill. Still, I can take this week a bit easier now, and have the whole of next weekend off from working before I'm back at uni again! Gonna watch an hour of one of my programmes and get to bed.

Oh, and I have felt fine all day which is brill. night all.

candles burning while your smoking seems to help somewhat. i keep one or a couple of tealights lit on top of my mantlepiece when im in and it does seem to attact the smoke somehow and make the stink be less noticeable.....i still notice it but my friend who doesnt smoke only notices it when i have a cigarette lit.

bb I agree about imodium butthe pain oh the pain it had to stop and it did the trick, I would love to know out of curiosity where it came from, my sis thinks it was a virus, Oh thinks it is me not washing my hands, me think it was the turkey, did they trace where yours came from?

Taking the kids to the dentist check up this morning, still dull and over cast here where is the sun? Will do a bit of shopping along the way, ended up just having cereal yesterday and then OH said the one thing you should avoid with stomach upsets is dairy as in the milk I had in the bowl with the cereal:rolleyes: anyway pain today is bereable and that is good enough for me as have things to do and kids to see to, little one is having another sleep over and wants me to bake fairy cakes with sprinkles in:D

Oh yeah I know I won't be able to completely get rid of the fug, I just don't want those people visiting and being hit in the face with smoke plumes when they walk in!

If I do get this house exchange, I won't be smoking in the new house, because It's a bungalow, I can just stand outside and smoke (If I'm still smoking then!) It's just quite difficult to do it in a high rise and I daren't do it in the stairs as junkies linger there, one of them done a poo the other week!! Can you see why I want to leave?! Won't be mentioning that nicety though.....

B - 2 slices toast with wafer thin ham

I just ate my breakfast about 20mins ago, bit late! I need to get that WW bread again, I'm currently buying Lidls' cheapo stuff, 39p a loaf, can't complain! But it's over 100calories per slice. I noticed though, breads like warburtons, hovis and kingsmill start growing mould after 2/3days of it being open, where as the lidl stuff can go a week without new species appearing.

Plus you seen the price off kingsmill? I hate when OH buys it on his way home from work and it's that LOVE TO TOAST stuff so it's a double whammy off calories.

Miserable day here, the sun has been stolen. My mum is coming down in the next 30mins, no doubt she will start her complaining as soon as she gets in. Good job Keira ate the last of the biscuits :)

    Good morning everyone
Been doing some flying today and hoovered so I'm well chuffed. My house is coming back together again:j. Got a call from DS's sperm donor (no, I dont like him much anymore) to say he'll be joinging us for DS birthday in June. Well thats nice, when will you be arriving? I land on the fourth and then back home on the 15th. Wow, I say. Thanks for letting me know now so I can re arrange our schedule. It'll be nice for you to spend so much time with him. Oh well I want to buy some records and see some old school friends before I come back so I'll be leaving your place the day after DS birthday...DS birthday is on 6 June:mad:So he plans to sweep in here and stay for a mere 3 days (he hasn't seen DS since his first birthday and this will be his third!), before heading off to go do some London clubbing! But by the way, could you please not let him call your DF daddy whilst Im there-it'll hurt too much!

On the food front, Ive got off to a good start today with my vitality breakfast and my water...although my easter egg IS still calling to me:rolleyes:

Buttons I assume you have carpets? Pour some bicarbonate of soda out all over it, and your fabric furniture-liberally- and go out for a few hours...Hoover when you get back. Then Febreeze. And then to limit the smell recurring-and here's where it needs attention. Get yourself some plaster of paris or modelling clay (the type that goes hard) you roll abit into a ball about the size of a goon marble, flatten the bottom slightly so that it doesnt roll around on the table. Now find a felt pen or something like that which would be about the same thickness as your cig. Stick it through the clay ball so you have a hole in it right through. Now heres how this helps...You put it in your ashtray on top of a bit of bicarb and then instead of crushing your cig to kill it, you just drop it in the hole and it'll smother. Just leave it in the hole until your next one and then you can just lift it out into the ashtray. It's more the crushing and killing which leaves the most offensive smell. Back home when I lived with my folks there were 6 of us smoking in the house and all our guests-my dad used to chain smoke badly. We had these little gadgets in All our ashtrays all over the house and everyone was fascinated at how there was never a trace of smoke smell in the house. And when you are reafy to quit-its well worth using the NHS service. I went on patches and checked in with a lady at our local chemist to get new packs each week. I had been smoking for 10 years and quit in 6 weeks.
