Congrats on being SOTW:D And a close second somnium:T

Raven - welcome to our lovely forum: sounds like you have been through quite a lot, and that eating/poor eating habits may be tied up for you in caring enough about yourself? Eating healthily is a great step towards valuing yourself and it sounds like you very much want to be doing this. I find a little planning ahead helps make sure I have good food, that I will enjoy eating in the house. KNowing what meals you are going to prepare helps avoid grabbing junk food, or not bothering when out of time or energy.
Do keep posting so we can get to know you. We have a lot of fun on here as well as support and ideas sharing.

alliwant - thanks for nice comment abbout my meals:beer: All helps keep me at it.

Good to hear from you annie. Hope you have a good easter break, and well done for keeping at it.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Im feeling so happy and so sad today.
Yesterday, DS and I spent the day with a very dear friend who was expecting her new baby next Tuesday. She miscarried in June last year and was pregs again by August. I wouldn't have known what to do when it happened to me if I hadn't had her to call.
I felt so sad when I left her last night because I knew we wouldnt see each other for about another two weeks. (Obviously I wouldnt be able to go to the hospital and we normally see each other at least once a week).
I took DS to playgroup this morning and whilst there I got a text saying baby arrived this morning! A healthy boy.And then I got home to find my cousin had sent photos of their two week old baby. I was very upset when I heard about the delivery today. My friend was scheduled for a c section on Tuesday, she went into labour at about midnight last night and they made her go until 8.30 this morning before deciding to give her a spinal block and cut.
I did the shopping today and got in some packet soups to try and up my calories a bit.
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and tell you all that before I go to bed. I will catch up with the thread tomorrow.
  • Thanks to everyone who's replied. It's nice to get quick responses, so thank you! I think I know where my pitfalls are, but (like a lot of people) I'm beginning to recognise that I lie to myself alot, lol. I should really stop looking at a pack of crisps and thinking 'I'll just have the one...'

I think my moment of realisation was nearly two weeks ago. I went into farmfoods and bought a box of 30bags of crisps. Five days later and they were all gone. I don't think even the best liar in the world could convince themselves they'd evaporated (one of my favourite excuses for why I never have any cans left, lol). But realising how much rubbish I was eating is helping. I'm almost obsessed with money saving. As a fostered child (still legally a child at 18 'cause of being in care. Not fun) I get funding for getting into uni (about 5%, maybe less, manage it) so I have a weekly budget of £50. Despite this, I only spent £2.98 on food a week for about two months, and a pound of that was on cordial. So I'll be spending most of my summer holiday (since when did uni students get 4months of? We got a month off at Christmas and a month off for easter, then they expect us to take four months off for the summer? What am I paying for, here? They better not make it £8,000 a year) learning how to eat healthily on a budget. I think I have an advantage in that I don't drink alchohol, and a disadvantage because the reason why makes me gain weight, lol.

I should probably stop here as I'm rambling. One of the side effects of insomnia, I'm afraid. Night all.
