- Get to bed before midnight - not too bad since joining the gym in the middle of the week because I have had some early classes, induction etc so had to get to bed early.
- Not eat chocolate - had a serious binge session last week - but getting into the gym has made me think I'd rather bank the calories.
- Exercise each day - again the gym has helped here.

Missy, thanks for the reminder - well, I have not been very successful in my resolutions. I reviewed them in February when Raph started this thread and have only improved on exercise.- As you can see from the time of this post I am still not getting to bed early enough - just cannot break this habit.
- I confess to continuing to munch through too much chocolate on occasions (several) - no serious damage there yet though.
- But, I have succeeded on the exercise front and am doing lots more exercise. My 6 weeks trial at the gym runs out tomorrow so I will sign up officially now that I am making good use of it. This was supposed to be an interim solution whilst I could not cycle to work because it was dark - but as I often cannot cycle in because of work commitments it makes sense for it to be a permanent solution.

Ooh thanks for sharing all the Q1 updates! Great reading!
BB glad to hear you're feeling focused, can't wait to see some more of the results of your creativity! Let us know how it goes with pilates and the swimming. I hope your pool isn't as crowded as my local ones have been since the new year
nmm that's a wonderful set of results for you! What you're doing is really working!According to your sig you're already over halfway to your target? Fantastic!
Sary, congrats on your achievements too! Great stuff about the clothes (very MSE to fit back into clothes you already have!) Every 1lb really does count you're right. Best of luck for your Q2!
Raph brill stuff with reaching the % target. I thought 21% - 33% was a healthy body fat range for female age 20-39 though? This is the chart I usually refer to. Has this changed? A minimum target of 17% seems low for a female. What does make me laugh about that chart is that the minute you turn 40, you get an 'extra' 2% overnight
Good luck with your Q2 as well Beanie, the last loss you posted was a brill one so you're off to a flying start already!
Buttonmoons it's all the same with clothes sizes varying from store to store isn't it? I'd say it's better to take measurements and compare those to the 'standard' dress size measurements, then you will know if you're officially a size 14 rather than going by what's on the label
Granny thank youI think you're amazing too, and I really hope you're feeling the benefits of a little more exercise, maybe even enjoying it a teensy little bit? Let us know if you do decide to take up a challenge for Q2! I am quite liking this quarterly challenge concept because it's long enough to make a difference, but short enough not to take our eye off the ball too much!
FFM I think your over achievement with the gym outweighs the other two! Glad to hear it's worked out and you'll be signing up! I'm sure you don't really want to ban yourself from eating chocolate completely though, do you? Has the additional exercise helped you get more (or better quality) sleep at all or are things exactly the same? Anyway let us know if you do update them
I have my next set of (6-monthly) objectives written down but I might tweak a couple of them before I 'go public' with them0 -
It's such a gorgeous day out there again, that I can't resist it!
I've cycled 3 miles this morning when I took the boys to school, then took a detour via Sainsburys for some 1% milk, yogurt & porridge that we needed. Before I left I'd done a big pile of ironing that I started at 7.30am, so it was fab to get that out of the way. I love my cycle each morning now the sun is shining. It takes a bit of cajoling to get the children to feel the same way! lazy bums!
I'm about to get myself a cup of tea, and take it out in the garden to get on with some fence painting, and some digging/weeding and border creating! I'm starting to attack the garden @ OH's house, soon to be 'our' house! I've got plans for a vegetable plot too, and will be watching the seeds I planted yesterday closely - so far put some onions, tomatoes & bedding plants in. A friend of mine has a great suggestion for growing potatoes that her husband did last year, they plant them in an unused dustbin, and it crops really well! What a compact idea! (and moneysaving too)
Buttons - I have the same problem with my calves. I lost over 2st and they measured the same! Everything else lost inches, but not those babies! I'd love to wear a pair of knee high boots with a skirt, but it's a shocking look when you're barely 5ft tall and have the calf muscle size of an Olympic shot-putter!:o
Raph, well done on even more weightloss!
I'm pleased to report in a 2.5lb loss today. At last I have shifted well below the mid-stone point. I have 4lb to go till I crack the next stone barrier!!!! At first I thought it was just a result of my 'sharting' episode, and expected my fluid levels to get rebalanced and the weight to return, but my scales say my water level is right, so the lbs have come off regardless.
ffm - one of my Q1 resolutions was to go to bed earlier too. I have tried to stick to it, and insist I am in bed before midnight, as I am a night owl too. My theory was also that when I stayed up late, I'd often snack. Some nights I've put myself in bed when I felt hungry, just to get away from any chance of eating anything else!:rotfl:One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

I would like to join please,I need to join you!
I am getting married in November this year and I really dont want to be this size on the day,I dont want to be this size full stop.I have put on about 0.75 of a stone a year since my daughter was born and am a size 20 now.
I had never dieted before and gave it a go for the first time at the end of feb this year,I lasted 1 week, had a takeaway at the weekend and never went back on the diet.
I enjoyed being on the diet,I lost 7lbs that week, and that got me comfortably into my size 18 trousers.I exercised,I felt fabby rather than flabby. One curry and I fell at the first hurdle.
I need to start it again.I have put back on the 7lbs and then some and am now just over 15 stone, dress size 20.I dont know how much I can lose safely inside the next few months but I am going for it.My BMI is 34!I dont look like myself anymore.I have to do it.
I am going to do a low calorie diet ,which is what I did for 1 week before, and post my weight loss every Tuesday.
I am aiming for a dress size 12/14 by end of August.
My exercise will be using the step machine and extra dog walking.I walk lots anyway and thats what I enjoy doing so increasing my activity level that way will be easier to keep up."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
Welcome Sheloves
We've all been there and done that! This thread is a great place to find support, tell us when you're having a great day, bad day, etc.
I'm also doing a low cal/low fat diet, but the one thing I would say that has helped to keep me on track since the new year has been to use a much smaller plate. I use one of the kid's christening gift plates, and I keep my carbohydrates limited, as I recognise they trigger me to eat more than I should. I use the website foodfocus.com to log my daily eating, and even planning a full day's eating, so that I don't overeat, or have high calorie foods.
I often go to eat certain foods, but because I know their calorie values, I have a bit of a 'do I really need this' moment, and 8/10 times I'll put it back before eating. Recognise when you start to feel satisfied during a meal. That may mean only eating half of it, but if you don't really need any more, don't have it. I had been eating til I felt full or stuffed, which isn't how we should eat. I have some friends who have always been slim, and if I've ever watched how they eat they don't clear their plates, they seem to naturally like healthier foods, and have a more active lifestyle. I may not naturally be like that, but I'll do a good job of copying them!
Quite a few of our contributers here have been on a long weightloss journey, and are still posting despite reaching their target weights/BMI, because they still need the support the thread offers, and the discipline it provides.
I log my daily eating, just because I feel it makes me accountable to you all. Yes we have blips, but they last a day (maybe two), and we allow ourselves treats, but we either try to have them in a measured way, choosing a treat with a healthy slant where possible. Any new eating plan is doomed for failure if it's based on deprivation.
You have a wonderful target to aim for with your wedding later this year - you'll be swapping notes with other brides to be here!

Well there have to be some compensations for getting older --- what can I have for being over 50?0 -
i gained today - think it was 1.8kg but i knew it was coming. i need to get back on track tomorrow. we had a barbecue last night which probably didn't help. Also i've got about 10 bags of granola that I failed to sell that i keep munching on - might have to give it away i think. I havet he calf thing too, always had. it's a real pain buying boots.
Vix, I've worked in marketing for years. Drop me a pm and i'll see if i can help you at all?0 -

Well I wasn't expecting it, so I really am over the moon to report a 1.5lb loss! Thinking about it all my blips probably ended up at about 2000 calories, and if you average that out with the days where my eating went wrong and I underate I think it all evens out, so maybe just maybe I deserve that loss? Either way, its mine!
I have a question for everyone because this has happened to me a few times over the last couple of weeks. I am sleeping a ridiculous amount at the minute (pills do it) so have been having some definite low cal days. Whilst I dont count calories I am aware of the rough average of certain foods, so know when despite having 3 meals I have "underate". However, sometimes I'm very full on these days and don't want to force myself to eat more when I have been healthy all day so what am I supposed to do? Do I just leave it and accept that these days will all average out with days where I want to eat more and allow myself to do so?
Thanks in advance for any advice, and well done to everyones efforts this week.0 -
Sheloves first off congratulations on getting married! I cannot echo others enough in saying that posting here is invaluable. Despite having lost some weight before joining this thread I have been posting my weigh ins for 12 weeks and have lost (I think!) 15lbs. For 4 weeks of that I was in a total slump and didn't lose anything, I had takeaways and generally lost my motivation. The brilliant people on this thread pulled me through, and I know had I not been posting here I would have given up. So please please please keep posting so that you can experience the wonderful support and advice that everyone here has to offer, and while the subject is generally food and weightloss we understand that life and personal experiences have a big impact on that, so if you need a moan about anything then consider us ready and waiting!
Are you planning to follow a particular low calorie diet or just cut down? Personally I'm just trying to eat better and so far its working, but there are rosemary conley, slimming world and i think Weight watchers posters who have done brilliantly and like the structure those plans provide, so its just a case of finding what works for you. You have a great motivator, and that combined with posting here should ensure your success.0
