Raph - I thought you were maintaining? That dress won't fit you! Well done for achieving a stunning result for body fat.

I am trying to maintain! Lol, I didn't try to lose this week, it just happened. Means I can have a few naughty treats this week :)

Raph brill stuff with reaching the % target. I thought 21% - 33% was a healthy body fat range for female age 20-39 though? This is the chart I usually refer to. Has this changed? A minimum target of 17% seems low for a female. What does make me laugh about that chart is that the minute you turn 40, you get an 'extra' 2% overnight :p

:confused:When I first went to the gym and had a fit test, the printout said I was 44.6% body fat, and I should be between 17-24% Maybe height has something to do with it???

Granny, I think all you get for being 50 is to look forward to the 1% extra you'll get when you're 60 :p

Raph that's the chart that's in my sports nutrition book, and the standard one from a number of websites. I've not seen any different guidelines regarding body fat percentage (and none that suggest height is a factor) that's why I'm curious :) If you see anything more about it I'd definitely be interested. Your results are amazing.

DMV - just to say I also sometimes have 'naturally' low calorie days (not alarmingly low) and I don't like to carry on eating just for the sake of it either if my appetite isn't there. I generally neither undereat nor overeat when it's averaged over a week. This seems perfectly healthy to me.

Andyslinz, I'm out of time but I'll come back and answer your Q!

Wow, more people 'signed' up for the Q1 than I remembered, and I've really enjoyed reading how you have got on. Thanks again missy for remembering that.
dmv:T great result.Ithink if you are eating relatively healthily on your low cal days, then yes, it probably does all balance out.
Missy - don't thinkmy pool should be too crowded: I use a small one attached to a local school and go during a women's only session which is full of oldies swimming slowly:D .

Sary, You've done really well in the first quarter as well as making that very significant step of moving in with OH - congrats on handing in your notice. And that's fab to be fitting back into old clothes. And :T for a great loss: the shed shifting has finally had benefits:rotfl:
Marion - how are you doing?
kpc - you haven't put back on half of what you lost last week, so a good week this week will get you back on track. I confess I don't know what granola is... perhaps it is best I don't find out...
Raph excellent news that you have reached ANOTHER goal:T

Granny looking forward to your next loss beinhg in 'new territry'.
Delighted to hear of the extra 2% fat allowance for 40+:D
FFM It is so good to hear you back at regular exercise - this will be just another sign that you can keep this weight off for ever: that you went through a time of doing less exercise but can re find your motivation again.
    andy: great new goals.

Sheloves - welcome to our wonderful forum. Great advice from others already. Remeber, you will slip up sometimes, so don't be disappointed in yourself, just make sure you keep posting here and we'll help you get back on track
Somnium - is it the exercise and eating plan that you are both finding hard to get back to?

Well a loss for the 3rd week in a row for me -1lb please raphyay.gif
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Andyslinz glad you've joined in with some targets :D Good luck with them! I had a hernia repair op last September, 2.5 inch incision so nothing horrifically major. I had a 4 week exercise layoff and went back gradually after that. I believe the problem was caused by pregnancy (10 years ago!) as I had a 'lump' which I thought was a bit of the baby :rotfl: I thought no more of it until after my weight loss when the lump became more obvious. Anyway, all fixed now, thanks for asking!

Congrats to everyone who's posted good results so far this week! Welcome to the thread shelovestobuystuff :D

Thanks Missy and BB for the advice. My low calorie days tend to consist of "light cereal" eg coco pops, then my favourite low cal soup and then something light for dinner eg fish, veg and "roasted" new potatoes. Now I think that looks fine on paper, but the calories are low. As you say though, I'm sure that balances out with the days where I have scrambled eggs, jacket potato and spag bol!
  • Hey, I'm Raven.

I really, REALLY need to start losing weight, though it hasn't worked well for me in the past. I'm eighteen, and only started eating proper food when I moved into care aged 7, so sometimes eating food gets difficult and I fall into a habit of eating Parma Violets and drinking cola.

My current weight is 16st7lbs, and my ultimate goal is 9st, which will put me just inside the average-weight barrier for my height. By September the 22nd (when I go back to my second year of university) I aim to be 13st, and hopefully I'll be able to fit into a size 18 again. (I say hopefully because I'm a size 24 now. All the weight goes to the wrong places! LoL!)

I think I'm sorted on what I should change my diet to (at the moment I pay £2 a week for food... fake pot noodles get boring, really REALLY fast... LoL!) and I am planning to start using my gym membership again. Anyone got any tips to help me? Anything would be appreciated as I've finally met the girl of my dreams, but I'm not confident enough at this size to approach her.

    Welcome sheloves and Raven.

Congrats BB, Raph, NMM, Sary, Granny and anyone else I've forgotten who's had a good week.

I don't think I set any Q1 target but I'd like to set some for Q2...

    Welcome Raven,

You've come to the right place for support on your weightloss journey.

It looks like you've got all the right things in place; you have a target to aim for, you know your dietary pitfalls (so work out how to avoid them), and you've made a positive decision to make a change.

We're all following different plans on here, from something as structured as Weight Watchers, Slimmers World & Rosemary Conley, to people like me who just try to eat healthy foods, avoid unhealthy foods, and cut down drasticallly on the fat & carbs. The biggest thing I can suggest is to use a smaller plate for all your meals, and if you're unsure of portion sizes, get a cheap set of scales to weigh out cereals, etc. I was shocked to realise how massive my own portions of pasta, rice & cereal was compared to a RDA.

You've got a gym membership too, so a great place to keep setting small goals in your exercise. We all try to do our bit, even those who are hampered by illnesses/medication/disabilities. Every little counts.

A steady loss is a good, healthy loss.
