Good to hear Beanie! Do you have somewhere nice nearby where you can go on it?
Hope everyone's had a lovely day, it was nice and sunny here in my little bit of the south east(That's north west to you Vix

Evening all,
A flying visit, as I've just got back home from son #3's school production of Treasure Island (which was brilliant)!
Busy morning packing boxes into the car to bring to OH's. The move continues. Then had to wait around for a couple of hours for a bloke to arrive to collect something OH had sold on ebay - and the guy was late! Back home, unpacked car. Made tea, took boys to see the play. Back now.
Food today:
B - 2 slices fruit loaf
L - 2 slices toast
D - h/m lasagne
snacks - some fruit jellies
I had too many carbs today, and the bread for breakfast & lunch were stop-gap rushed meals, that were a means to an end. No time to sit down and have something else, so I feel a bit bloated as a result. Will endeavour to make it porridge and more fruit tomorrow.
Missy you must have had our sunshine quota today. We had mizzle, then damp, low cloud all day today, and it's the same here this evening. No bike ride todayI don't like the rain in my face when I'm on the bike, and my hands get soooo cold! A fairweather girl here I'm afraid.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
I'll try to remember that we're reviewing at the end of June but in case I forget maybe everyone else can make a mental note too
Yes, 5 people was great and I did have a good swim for 20 mins. Arms felt like dropping off but that was unfitness rather than anything wrong.
Beanie - out on your trike: great. It's a good start:T
Vix - life does relentlessly throw up these difficulties I'm afraid - my OH was offered his 1st permanant job in 5 yrs last November... on the same day HQ decided to stop all recruitment due to the recession:rolleyes: .
There's a saying though:
life is 10% what hapens to you and 90% how you react to it.
Keep at it and keep at it - & it is still worth running your stuff past kpc as who knows, the job may reappear, or another similar might come up - then you'd have something ready to wack in.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Just tried a new recipe from my new low carb cook book. Very yum & OH was enthusiastic, so a result: malay chicken curry.
Todays menu
bkfast: 1 rasher bacon chopped up, poached egg green salad leaves
lunch: cold roast chicken, salad with HM natural yog mixed with 1/2 tblesp mango chutney
dinner: malay chicken curry, small portion brown basmati rice, steamed spinach
snacks: apple, banana on 1 slice rye & linseed bread (good omega fats & roughage:D ), raw turnip, tomatoes
milk in teaI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Miossy~Unfortunatly the nice places to go are just a wee bit too far to go & I have to navigate main roads & Im not brave enough with the trike being so wide IYSWIM.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Hi everyone. Today has been a bit of a strange one food wise. We got up late so I had 1 jam crumpet and cornflakes for breakfast/lunch and then OH found out he had to go out for a couple of hours this evening so dinner would be late. Which means come 5 i had 2 slices of toast (warbutons danish 61 cals a slice) and then later 200cals worth of tortilla crisps! Now that is sooo not the snack I would usually go for but they were so nice that I really enjoyed them. Dinner was HM fish pie made with salmon, white fish, king prawns and normal prawns, peas, white sauce and mash. It was sooooooo good that instead of it making three portions, we finished it between the two of us! Am stuffed now, but really enjoyed it so it was worth it and given that it was mostly fish with a practically only semi skimmed milk white sauce and a so thin it was see through layer of mash I think it was quite a healthy meal, if a bit big on the portions!
Even snacking on the tortillas was a big improvement to what it would have previously been, I would have never thought to weigh out a portion so i only ate a set number of calories. Am quite pleased with myself! On the downside I have REALLY struggled to get my uni work done lately, and the few weeks where I couldn't get any work done have really set me back. Fortunately I have the worlds nicest department at uni who have extended some of my deadlines, but the depressing fact now is that by working to my limit (as set by painkillers etc) I will be working (bar my holiday) constantly till the end of August. Ugh, I just want it done.On that note I'm gonna stick my head in the sand and go shopping tomorrow as I need new boots and underwear! Night all.0 -
Beanilou here is the recipe you asked for (I tried to PM you but your box is full;) )
I don't remember where I got it so I hope posting it isnt going to be a problem:rolleyes:
Ive added my notes regarding the slow cooker as its just how I do it-but Ive done it in a casserole dish in the oven and even just left it in the frying pan covered with a plate. The trick is to get the spices all stuck to the chicken in a frying pan and then you can finish it off just about any way you like.

12 each Chicken thighs bone in
59 mililiters Oil (4 tablespoons)
30 mililiters Cumin seeds (2 tablespoons)
2 each Onion medium, sliced
15 mililiters Minced ginger (3 teaspoons)/3cm fresh root
15 mililiters Crushed garlic (3 teaspoon)/3 cloves
3 each Green chili halved lengthways and seeds removed
2 mililiters Turmeric (Half a teaspoon)
2 mililiters Garam masala (half a teaspoon)
10 mililiters Paprika (2 teaspoons)
2 each Peppers one red, one yellow, deseeded and cut into chunks
30 mililiters Tomato puree
250 mililiters Natural yoghurt
44 mililiters Coriander sprigs to serve
1) Pull the skin off the chicken, then set the chicken aside. Heat the oil in a large pan over a medium heat. Fry the cumin seeds for a few seconds until they give off a nutty aroma, then tip in the onions and turn the heat down low. Cook with the lid on for about 10 minutes until the onions are soft, but not yet starting to colour.
2)Add the ginger, garlic and chillies and fry for a minute or so, then sprinkle in the turmeric, garam masala and paprika. Stir in the chicken and peppers. Continue frying for about 10 minutes until the spice mixture clings to the chicken and the onions turn brown. Add a dash of water if they start to catch on the bottom of the pan.
3)Stir the tomato puree into the yoghurt , turn down the heat, then swirl the yoghurt into the pan, followed by 125ml cold water. Bring to a simmer and cook gently without a lif for about 30-35 minutes until the chicken is tender, stirring in a little more water if it looks dry. Add salt if you like.
4) Scatter coriander before serving.
Notes
Cook the day before serving and divide into 2 portions, then freeze.
1)For best results, cook on hob until adding yoghurt mix. Move to SC and mix chicken, cook on low for 6 hours.
2)To cook on hob completely use 2 frying pans
Will keep in the fridge for 2 days or can be frozen. To reheat: Bring to room temperature to defrost, then reheat in oven at 200C for 20-30 minutes.0 -
