  • Hi everyone,

It's my first post on this site. I started on the Cambridge Diet two weeks ago and lost 10 lbs the first week, and just 1 lbs at yesterday's weigh in. Anyone out there had a similar stall in the second week?

    Thanks!
  • I am going to try a very low 800 caloried diet for a kick start. This is what I did for 1 whole week before and liked it.Yesterday I had not been out and bought all my low cal versions of my usual stuff so I had to just make do.

    yesterdays diet was
coffee with 2 sugars and milk 38cal
    1 twix finger 142 cal(bad)
    toast,low cal spread,turkey ham 145 cal
wholemeal sandwich, cheese, pickle, low cal mayo 300 cal
I burned dinner so toast & beans for tea 160 cal
3 mugs of nettle tea thoughout the day 15 cal

    todays so far
small glass fresh o.j. 40 cals
    nettle tea(5 cals each)10 cals
    1 bap,little cheese,loads of cucumber 116 cal

I am using this site to keep track of calorie intake/expenditure and exercise www.caloriecount.about.com

    Hello to all the newbies.
FFM I agree about your exercise being SO good.
Ive not been wonderful today-but I have had my water. DS is being evil. His little friend (the one who became a big brother yesterday) has finished potty training. So now DS wants to use the toilet too, which is wonderful. But he refuses to put a nappy on at all-so we haven't left the house all day. This would be fine if he would actually use the toilet or potty-but he just keeps going everywhere but... Im pulling my hair out. We are having pork chops and cous cous for supper tonight.

swim.gifGuess what I've just been doingswim.gifHad a GP referral so cost less than standard entry. I'd really like to go every thurs now after work but we'll see how it goes. Only 5 of us in the pool:D

Raven there are quite afew forums you might find useful in feeding yourself well on not a lot of miney - over on 'old style', so do have a good browse when you have time. It is very tough to manage on so little and I dispair of our care system I really do, so well done you for getting to uni:T . It is MSE I think to eat regular healthy meals for as low a cost as possible, not to spend no money on food. You need to be in tip top shape to beable to concentrate on your studies and lose weight effctively.
If the body feels starved it hangs on to fat stores like mad and makes it much harder to lose - that how people get caught in extreme diet fads, barely eating anything but not losing weight.

If you want any simpe meal ideas, just ask and I'm sure we cancome up with a few basics. And it's great you've met someone you rather fancy - as good a motivator as any to take better care of yourself.

Polkadot - Hope DS makes the connection with what the toilet is actually for soon:o

Welsh wobble: we have a couple of members doing the CD so hopefully they will pick up your question soon.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

need to eat better quality food raven. Pasta you can do for like 3 quid...stir fry isnt that expensive either...pot noodles and those quick noodle things are pretty unhealthy food options. Rice is cheap and very filling.

I wish i could get a GP referal for a swim BB! i think swimming should be 2 quid a pop, job done. Gotta speculate to accumulate after all.

DF has just arrived home all angry, asking why people keep on asking him if he is irritated-says it irritates him:rolleyes:Tried to put it to him that perhaps if more than just a few people are asking then he must be behaving in a manner that leads to the perception-he fails to understand:rolleyes:And apparently my desire to lose weight is immature and I need to get DS under control (because we didn't go out today) more importantly . Thankfully, Im in no mood to take it personally but thought I might share since you all might get a giggle from it. I've been flying today and just remembered that the forum will be down this weekend-so what will I do with myself now?

Raven - I think crisps were the main reason I got fat :o I cut them out from the day I decided to lose weight, and didn't even miss them so it shows it was a bad habit more than really enjoying them  I have a sub-100 calorie pack every now and then, now that I've lost the weight, but I'm not really bothered about them anymore. Good luck with moving to healthier eating :)

BB - only 5 in the pool you lucky thing!!! Hope you had a lovely swim.

I've finalised my new targets :T, these are 6-monthly so they will go through Q2 and Q3. Won't repost here as they are predictably all exercise related, but for anyone who's interested, here's the linky :D

I'll try to remember that we're reviewing at the end of June but in case I forget maybe everyone else can make a mental note too :p

Raven I assume you cook for yourself only? Please correct me if Im wrong. I do a "stew" that started as a Cassolet. Literally just some different kinds of beans and some chicken (thighs are great as the meat comes off the bone easy and also cheap) in some fresh pasta type sauce. Also "shepherds pie" using lentils instead of mince and home made Humous for lunch. If you want me to send some recipes to you, pop me a pm and I'll do that. They all cost next to nothing and if you cook the portions I send to you then you can divide and freeze-so you can have free cook days AND yummy healthy food...which reminds me NMM have you tried the chicken curry recipe I sent you yet? Im dying to know what you think?
