What to buy in Tesco Value Range

My sister has started buying the value OJ, as her family get through a full carton every day. She claims that it tastes exactly the same, it just doesn't have the posh pouring lid on it, you have to cut the corner off like "in the olden days"!0

I second (or third or fourth) previous replies on the value orange and apple juices.
I also love the milk chocolate - the only problem is that the squares aren't as "tall" as cadbury's so I end up eating almost a whole block at a time. On the other hand, at 25p a go, it's less than the price of a mars bar!
I love value salad cream but hate value ketchup.0 -
Oh, I also forgot to say, I'm not that impressed with value washing up liquid. I found that it didn't create many bubbles.
I either buy Tesco own brand or Morning Fresh (I love the turquoise colour one!).0 -
The one thing that is very poor quality is the value rice crispies. They are very white and very tasteless. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

I love the Tesco Value seafood sticks. You'll find them alongside the packs of smoked salmon packs, mackerel etc etc. There's 16 in a pack and they are great. 89p a pack.
Anyone tried the breaded mushrooms, just saw them in the list of Value items and just wondered if they were any good or the cheese and onion potato skins?“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -

If they are anything like the Asda smart price ones the only thing I could do with them to use them up was to make rice crispy cakes.

the pot noodles at 24p are great for kids
crisps are ok
tinned toms, spag, beans, soup good
value cheese and tomato pizza at 36p good
the choc ices around 37p good
the value choc assortment at 79p absolutley beautiful
the oj good
bread ok
in general im quite happy with their value range0 -
the value dark chocolate is very very good too...it has a very good snap (a sign of good chocolate) melts nicely in your mouth and smells and obviously most importantly tastes good..I highly recommend it.
The milk chocolate was ok but nothing special (not a huge white chocolate fan so can't comment on it).
Also, the value apples when they look like Granny Smiths are really good...if they do not look like Grannies they tend to be pretty manky and I would advise avoiding them!
The value toilet roll was great for packing material when I moved house but feels like sandpaper when used as intended.:hello: TTC since 11/090 -
we've tried many of the Tesco Value/Asda Smartprice products. We now only buy the value beans/tinned veg. Used to buy value bread - not very nice. Didn't like the orange squash - tasted powdery, but the pure OJ is great.
Probably buy more just can't think of them just now (although i couldn't convert DH to their Lager range)
BTW the value/smartprice cat litter is the best we have tried as it seems to absorb all the smells better than others.

phizzimum wrote:Tried the value beetroot and also the pickled onions the other day. Noticed the beetroot had a lot less additives in then the more expensive jars. I put the pickles in some nice looking jars I have saved for jam making and DH commented on how nice they were.
I checked out the value plain choc digestives ingredients ,which i have been buying for a long time now and could'nt believe they are better then the well known brand (as well as tasting better) it seems we are paying for the extra additives!
callyw...the biscuits jumped from 25p to 34p in 1 week.
bought value potatoes yesterday (not noticed them before,) i don't know if the taste or texture is going to be much different but i don't think you can go to wrong with this sort of stuff! :grinheart0
