I've just been reading that these swabs keep for 3 months but will check with Cellmark for sure tomorrow. if this is the case this does indeed need to be resolved superquick, certainly don't want to be paying out another £500 !!

I suppose at the moment she has nothing to lose really by dragging her feet as hubby is continuing with CM payments.

I'm confused here as my son's dad asked for a DNA test when I took him to the CSA as he said he wasnt his biological father. The CSA paid for the test to be done but told him that if he turned out to be the dad then he would have to pay the CSA back for the test so at the time neither of us had to pay for anything. He did have to pay them back though as he was the biological father.

I would of thought that in this situation the CSA should pay for the test to be done until all is confirmed. At least the test gets done without it being dragged out cos people cant afford to have it done.

In this case the opportunity to have the CSA involved in the DNA testing has passed.

My hubby is named on the birth certificate and he was married to the mother when his "son" was born, therefore the CSA can presume parentage, and quite rightly so. My hubby was led to believe that he was the father and did not dispute parentage at the time, some 9 years ago. I don't believe the CSA/tax payer should be paying for DNA tests under these circumstances.

I am on my son's birth certificate and signed their forms so I was also presumed.

The CSA court directed tests are paid for by the father initially and once the negative result is confirmed the dear old taxpayer coughs up again for the refund.

I'm off to court tomorrow morning and fingers crossed an end to this nightmare will be in site

Spoke with Cellmark and the swabs keep indefinately (phew). So worst case and this does go to court we won't have to pay out for another test.
  • Well just came back from court and as suspected my ex has not been to give her samples. The court have now adjourned for a few weeks with a proviso that the samples must be back at Cellmark by a certain date if not then at the next court hearing the magistrates will make their own minds up.

don't forget to watch the one show tonight as they are doing a piece on this very subject.

Sorry to hear this is dragging on for you. We have a rescheduled appointment date for Mother and Child's samples (btw, without offer of payment from hubby).
  • Had a call off the BBC and they aren't showing the story tonight due to the need for some slight editing etc.

The BBC did say it should be on all being well tomorrow night or Friday but will call me to confirm.

I will post once I have confirmation of when it is going to be on.
