I bought one of these routers about a month ago and took it back after about a week due to the damn thing kept locking up and needed resetting. I coulddn't be bothered with getting another one and risking it happening again so i just paid an extra £16 and got a Linksys WRT54GS. A much better router in my opinion. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

I dont know why a router would power itself off as it the sort of thing that would have to start up in a instant if required, and this would cause more problems that it was worth. The router itself consume virtually no power, so again, why would it timeout, switch off, or go into any power saving mode.
Ive actually bought this router too. Had it running since Friday, had a PC hooked up to it since that time, checked again this morning, all working perfectly. It even found 4 additional wireless networks in the vacinity, all unsecured i might add!.
Dont know if its worth mentioning, but have you checked the power saving features on your laptop?. It power saving it switched on, that could cause problems as the laptop goes into power saving mode and comes out of it again?.
Thanks Sandybrag
I guess 'loses connection' would be a better term. The modem light on the router stay on(green) but the power indicator goes OFF and the port lights also change to yellow.
Its not the power saving mode as it happens routinely when I am using the network from the laptop, specially if I am downloading.0 -
This is exactly the same problem i had and no matter how many times i reset it or upgraded the firmware it continued to do it. This is why i took it back.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

I had to take one back to pc world and got a replacement. As yet I can' even get the replacement running. I woner if this is because I secured the original network. Do I need to go back onto the belkin site and unlock before I can put a new one in its place to see if it will work? I can see an imminent upgrade happening! MAybe that is the ploy? Get us keen on wireless but sell us ones that don't work well so we buy better ones?Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking.
