Oh well done!
Ours too was a repossession. We had our offer accepted on the 18th June and have just exchanged today.
I know how you feel, believe me! It is really nerve wracking but it will be worth it in the end!
I hope it all goes smoothly, I will keep you updated on our progress.0 -
Well we exchanged last week and completing next week! Cant wait, feel surprisingly calm now! Hope things go well for everyone else. Don't give up hope if things are going slowly, everything seems to be silent and then all of a sudden its all go go move!0

Yes i totally agree, we were waiting for confirmation from Nationwide after our coal report came back.
We hadn't heard a thing since Friday, even though I emailled loads of times, and then today I got a text saying that we had exchanged and will complete on Tues/Weds depending on when the funds from Nationwide clear!
I really cannot believe it, I dont think it will really sink in until we have been in the house a month lol0 -
Mortgage has been drawn down, as my online banking now states a ghastly figure under mortgage
So I'm assuming everything is tickety-boo and their EA wil call us tomorrow for keys.
We have packed up 80% of our stuff, I hate moving so much0 -
I was just wondering if anyone could help me!
We complete on our house (a repo) on Wednesday and havent got a clue about what to do about utilities/phone/broadband etc.
Do we have to use the provider the previous occupants were with?
If not do we just apply with a new provider and they will come and reconnect? As I assume that it will all be cut off as it is a repo so probs has been due to debt etc.
I am dreading doing the broadband and phone as I know that you have to pay a fee, although is free with BT at the moment, they are not very cheap for broadband.
It is annoying with seeing if a provider does cover the area as you need to give them a telephone number (when you do it online) and quite obv. we don't have one!
Anyone else experienced this????
Any info would be of great help

Hey!
I recently moved into my first house which had been empty for over a year, was previously a rental property.
My advice is, if u suspect BT provided the line give them a ring with the postcode and they should be able to tell you if the line is live or whether they haven't supplied it for a while. [Explain you don't know the phone number!] plus have a look on the forum for internet etc on here, they are brilliant with advice.
In terms of utilities, ring up the water and they will set up an account it's also important to find out whether there are any outstanding monies on these accounts - which i found on my property once i moved it! If you go on the elec/gas forum there is a number you can phone [national grid i believe] who can confirm your supplies. Then get in contact with them, again making sure u get yourself an account and check no outstanding monies will be given to you.
Finally, don't forget council tax either. You can set this up now and give them the date you are moving in.
I really would try and get as much of this going on now as you can, for me it was the worst part of the move because 3 days before i got the keys i found out elec and gas had been disconnected due to previous tennant of vendor hadn't paid for months!!0 -
Thanks for that!
Well we aren't going to move in straight away so as soon as I get the keys I will be able to sort it all out, do you know how long it takes to get everything back on? Apart from phone and broadband (i know that can take a few weeks).
Yes council tax I will have to set up as I need to apply for a discount and find out the proof they need for the discount.
Thanks again0 -
Update from me, well sort of
Just posted this as a new thread, maybe I'll put it here too...
Hi all,
Second viewing (FTBs!) coming up tonight. Couple of things we would like to do if we did get the house, putting our mark on it and all that...
The layout downstairs could do with a little tweaking. Nothing that needs doing in the short term, but we'd like to add a porch on the front to create a new entrance. Currently the entrance is round the side, and it's just a bit inconvenient. There's a white space on the front of the house which just looks odd and it is begging for a lovely new small porch! Plus the front lawn is huge anyway, well back from the road.
The other thing is that once the porch is done, we were thinking about extending the front of the garage forward, level with the front of the house, so effectively the side entrance would be in the garage, giving us a new access to the garden and garage. Of, course one day there may be scope to build on top of the garage if done correctly, but we might not ever get round to that - nice if the potential is there though!
So, here's the question - does this sound feasible to anyone with a clue about extensions etc? I know little about planning permission and how much it would cost, and obviously I would approach the council and reputable builders about quotes eventually, but a rough idea from anyone who knows or has been in the same boat would be great, ahead of our second viewing.
Thanks all :T0 -
First post in here! Who could have thought buying a house was so difficult!
Saw a house back in June that was really nice, and agreed on a decent price with the vendors. Stated they wanted to rent, so no chain which was a big bonus!
All was going smoothly, mortgage went smoothly, survey valuation came back spot on. Completion estimated within 4 weeks
Then the vendors stated they were actually wanting to buy a property, and wanted to put the completion back for a couple of months. Before I even got a chance to reply to this, they stated that the house was now off the market.
Survey fee lost, time and effort wasted - I was fuming!
So, have a mortgage sitting approved and nowhere to move to. Frustrating!0 -
oh gosh! That is awful!
There would have been no problem with exchanging contracts and then waiting for exchange until they find a house, which is what most people do if a chain is involved!
I have to say, they could have done this due to the "house prices rising" and may believe that in a month or two they may get more for the house!
I wouldn't waste my time, mve on and im sure there is another perfect house out there waiting for you....difficult to believe at first but believe me, we lost out on a house in Feb and hardly looked at anything after and then we found a much better, cheaper house
It all works out in the end!
Keep us updated.0
