Got my fingers crossed for you HockeyD! Hopefully, you will hear back soon!!! Have you already sorted out a date for exchange of keys/contracts/completion etc then!? We haven't got any of this confirmed! :-S (think the solicitor is waiting to see if we get the mortgage first?)
We're also waiting on our mortgage approval, but ours has only been about a week! REALLY hope we get it!!!
Keep us posted!!....Hope you get the good news soon!!!0 -

Hockey & Dottie fingers crossed for you also!!
Im waiting around as well. I know I got an agreement in pricniple for the mortgage but now im just waiting around for the formal mortgage offer. FA has advised that I do nothing else until I get the mortgage offer, so everything has come to a stand still.....
News says statistics show there are more mortgage approlvals so lets hope we can be included in that figure!!!
All the best of luck guys!!0 -

Each new stage I've been at seems like the most stressful thing I've done. Not pleased to hear it gets worse!
Got my fingers crossed for you though, it's reassuring to hear success stories, even if I am insanely jealous!
Went to a viewing last night. We hadn't realised it was an open viewing, and were horrified at the queue of people trying to get in the house, let alone into the rooms. There were probably 15-20 couples there. All young, FTB types, just like us.
So where are all the photos of these fab new houses?

Hi,
Me and my partner are currently looking to buy our first house (are currently still living with parents)
We have found a house we love, it could do with a lick of paint but we have had a friend who is a experienced builder look over it and he was happy that there were no other problems.
We know everything in the house works as my partners sister lived there untill a few weeks ago as a renter however when we went for a second viewing we noticed the boiler seemed to be leaking, the estate agent said it was just a seal or souldering and nothing to worry about and if we have an offer accepted the solicitors would sort detail like this with the seller but other people keep saying make an offer subject to this being sorted! Does anyone have any tips on what I should do?
Also as a builder has looked over the house would we need a survey?
Thanks0 -
I'd like to join the club please!:j
We just found out this afternoon that our mortgage has been accepted - phew. Managed to get 3.99 for 5 years with HSBC before they pulled it! we only applied on Friday - I'm assuming that HSBC are much quicker than other people's lenders for approving applications - I'd have no fingernails left if we had to wait a fortnight!
Now we have a mad rush on to get the valuation/survey booked cos the vendors have imposed a deadline, if we don't get it done in the next week they remarket it - only had our offer accepted last Tuesday! the fact that we had to pay £999 up front for our mortgage, and £300 in advance to the solicitor doesn't seem to satisfy them of our seriousness!
We found the same thing with houses disappearing fast - theres a lot of dross still sitting on EA's book that has been there since we started looking last Summer, but anything new that appears is getting snapped up - we had a bit of a bidding war with a cash buyer on the one we're buying  I'm not sure it's a sign things are getting better, just that very few people are deciding to sell now so there's a lot less choice.
I'm now off to delete rightmove from my bookmarks so I don't get buyer's remorse! Do you guys keep on looking?0 -
yes!!! We have been accepted for our mortgage!!!
happy days...full steam ahead! Thanks everyoneSpreading the gospel that is Martin Lewis to the future generation....I'm a Home Economics Teacher and being thrifty is the way!:A0 -
Good Afternoon All,
I am a FTB, although STILL saving  which is wearing slightly thin.
So far in the deposit fund I have 10k.
In my loca area I can get a one bedroom house or flat for 75-80k. If i wanted a two bedroom prices are 100-105k.
I just wondered how much of a deposit you all had sorted, if any at all?
Am feeling like i will be saving for many centuries to come!!
Things are improving tho as i have my first teaching job set up for September, as a newly qualified teacher. So at least that is job security!
