I don't know! Our mortgage broker said she'd find out the price. Really confused! lol
Sorry to hear about your troubles VKay - it's definately not as fun as I'd thought it would be. I thought I'd be planning colour swatches by now - but it's all too stressful!0 -

Hi everyone. Long time lurker here! Sorry for the long first post!
My boyfriend and I are potential first time buyers with what amounts to a 25% deposit for the price range we are looking at (thanks to parents). We’ve been looking for a few months now and thought we’d finally found the right house.
I viewed it on Friday evening (it’s easier for me to do the initial viewings and narrow it down before dragging the OH along!) and managed to get a second viewing on Sunday. OH loved the house too and we put an offer in straightaway (under the agents’ door) near to the asking price as it was already really low for a quick sale. The vendor had told us there had been 9 viewings on the Saturday so we knew there was a chance we wouldn’t get it. After an agonising day yesterday waiting for and making phone calls, agreeing we would go to asking price if it meant we got the house (it would still be in budget) the agent rang me after work to say the vendor had accepted an offer OVER the asking price!
Was surprised to say the least that anyone is offering over the asking price in this market but I guess they felt it was worth it!? It was the only house in our preferred area with 3 beds and a garage so now having to think about how far to stretch our search area as we want to get this right and know there have to be some comprimises.
Anyway, the search continues, will be keeping my eye on propertybee as usual, hoping something even better drops into our price range, and no doubt will be on here asking for more advice soon! You can try, but you'll never catch me. Bazinga!0 -
Hi guys
Does anyone know how long it takes to get the survey sorted? I mean is it a one day going around the house thing or is it going to take weeks?
Sx0 -
Im wondering that myself SelenaLouise,
The surveryor was booked too go to this morning at 10:30.
We need to try and complete before the 25th April but when I spoke to my solicitor she said we proberly wont because of the survey and any issue in it! Surely it doesnt take that long to sort out!!0 -
SelenaLouise- we have just got our homebuyers report back today! It was all pretty quick really? The surveyor went to the house last Weds- he was there for 2 hours (vendor was in at the time too, so that was good if he had any questions etc) Then received the report via email yesterday, and hard copy in the post today! So all pretty quick! (No major structural issues! Phew!..just afew bricks have come off on the garden wall infront of the house, so not too bad really!)0

Hi ... I am not an FTB personally, but I posted this Thread based on an announcement in Scotland today - which may be of interest to any FTBs based there.

Hope it might help someone ...If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,

Thanks for the encouragement guys! Our final offer was rejected today- they asked us to up it but it was already 90% of the asking price so we have said no!
I am not that bothered though- think I'm toughening up! Hang in there Lauren nearly there!0 -
Hi there,
After reading this forum (and various others!), I get the feeling there are quite a few FTB's out there in process of buying a house! I am a FTB myself with my husband and we are now waiting for the solicitor's to prepare something for us to sign which will hopefully lead to exchange of contracts soon.
Like some of the FTB's on this forum, I am feeling a little beat because of all the doom and gloom and suffering from the worst of all nightmares - the possibility of negative equity! Is any other FTB as anxious as I am?
Please feel free to join this thread if you are a FTB (or not...)! I hope we can all exchange advice and opinions on buying our first houses and share our experiences! How did you decide this is the time to buy and how are your feelings thus far? Where are you at in your buying process?? Will you be moving in with barely no furniture (like we are!)? Are you confused with the myraid of insurances your mortgage advisor is talking about?
Hope to hear from you lot soon!
Hi Having rented for a number of years since becoming single, I was hoping to finally own my own property again soon. However,at 63 yrs old and reading all the pit falls etc. I think I may just buy a boat and sail off into the sunset!0
