Thanks Lauren. Sounds like things are going well.
Selena louise- I know what you mean about looking- you always think what if!! I don't know what to say- maybe time to stop looking at rightmove now?!0 -
Ok well I've slept on it now and I dont really want to mess about anymore so im going to go ahead as origionally planned.
I might view the other property just so I can see what work has been done to it to make it look so utterly beautiful, then I'll get myself down to B&Q and price things up with my dad (he'll be doing all the work of course) lol. Im sure I can make the house look even better!!0 -

I don't know how much work you're intending to do but with B and Q, if you are going to spend loads - tell them you're a tradesman and you will get a card which will give you cash back after spending a certain amount. And of course there is this other discount you get with over 60s on a wed or thursday afternoon...

What's going on with the housing market?!
This week I've called EAs about 12 houses. 3 had sold that day or the day before.
We we were down to view 9 this week.
I've now had 2 calls, saying properties have sold.
The house we tried to offer on last week had sold hours after we viewed it - someone made an offer on the spot of only £1k below asking price!
Many of the houses have 'recently had several offers' made on them (though half that could be EA BS!).
I thought there was a recession on?
Grrrr.
We've realised that if we like somewhere, we're going to have to offer there and then and get all further viewings cancelled. And I've managed to move most of my viewings to weekdays to try to avoid Saturday viewers outbidding us.
It just seems mad. And very depressing!
And I feel mean for hoping the people who got 'our' house don't get a mortgage approved and they offer it to us!When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present....we experience heaven on earth. Sarah Ban Breathnach0 -

I am in exactly the same boat; would never wish bad on people but really loved the house and felt like we were meant to get it as it ticked every one of our boxes (we felt we were pushing ourselves to go the asking price at the top of our budget, let alone offer over it like they did)!
I'm wondering if regionally there are far more differences within the housing market than I'd realised, as far as what will "always" sell, no matter what state the economy is in?
It is SO frustrating but try not to let it get you down; I'm getting "back out there" and going on a viewing tonight (though already have a feeling it's not the right one for us).
Hopefully by keeping on looking you (and me!) will find another 'right' house, perhaps an even better one!?!You can try, but you'll never catch me. Bazinga!0 -
I think you're right.
On every point!
I know we'll find something, I'm just very impatient
We're seeing another place tonight instead of one of the sold houses.
It's further from the town centre than I've been looking, but it seems to have been done up very nicely, and it has 3 beds!
Good luck on your viewing!
BTW, your'e not looking in Bristol are you?
Just that if you are, I may have to lock you up with all the other competition! When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present....we experience heaven on earth. Sarah Ban Breathnach0 -

Good luck to you too; no need to lock me up, we are hundreds of mile apart (but was thinking the same thing, lol!):pYou can try, but you'll never catch me. Bazinga!0 -

nementai- I know exactly what you mean! We looked around for ages until the one we had our offer accepted on. But we saw 7 houses, which 5 out of the 7 had been sold/under offer! I think people who were waiting to buy from the last 2 years, probably decided now was the time to buy, whilst the prices have fallen abit!
We offered full asking price on one house, (the one we really wanted!)..but no luck!..Someone else offered OVER the asking price! (in the current market!)...and that was only 2 months ago!
AlsoI think, due to the lack of houses for sale on the market (round our way anyway)...any houses that are for sale and in good area, and sensibly priced, will sell...
But keep looking though!...you will find the right house soon!!0 -
Well we are still waiting to hear back from the bank about our mortgage and frankly it's really starting to pi$$ me off! Been over a fortnight now and hate being told to 'sit tight' ARGHHHHH!!! MA has said everything is fine and to not worry but how can you not worry.
Due to get keys in just over a fortnight and move the following week.
Keep your fingers crossed for me please, need all the luck! Will keep you all postedSpreading the gospel that is Martin Lewis to the future generation....I'm a Home Economics Teacher and being thrifty is the way!:A0
