Press Ctrl, Alt, Delete keys at same time to access task manager, then look in performance tab under physical memory.

don't consumer rights in the UK give you a min of 1 years warranty?

    From my previous post:

This point was raised in the March edition of Personal Computer World (3 for £1 - see shop but don't drop sticky).

The reply was that the warranty is in addition to your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act (SGA) and similar legislation.
Post sales support is guaranteed to you in law, however the '1 year warranty' is not a statutory right. The SGA places few specific time limits on how long goods should last because different types of products have different life spans.
In short, you cannot be fobbed off with the 'it's out warranty' line.
If in doubt as to whose responsibilty it is to pay for the return of goods, seek advice from your local Citizens Advice Bureau who will happily supply you with this information, and, should things get sticky, the may even enter into negotiations on your behalf.
  • has anyone seen any recent adverts for this offer or is it over? As it was extended before I wonder if it has been again ... I dithered for rather too long.

It ended yesterday, although it is still on the website at £339, I think the extra £40 discount for phone orders has ceased.
with 4.5% back from quidco, you will get for 323.75
  • I saw the offer one of yesterdays papers (mirror IIRC), extended untill 1st march now.

If the company puts the phone down on you when you are trying to make a purchase, I think it would be very hard to get anything out of them after the 90 days. One thing to bare in mind, with every computer I've bought from dell in the past with the minimum warranty, they always have contacted me many times after to try & sell the extended warranty, usually at about half the origonal price. If they offer me 3 years for around £40, I might go for it.

I took the 90 days warranty. Not because I didn't want the extended warranty but because I figure that if you buy a 3 year warranty from the off then really all you are buying is a 2 years and 9 month warranty because you got the first 90 days free anyway. My secret hope is that towards the end of the 90 day warranty I can purchase a further 3 years for the same prices. If I can get it lower (as you suggest) then even better.

I've had my laptop for four days now and today I got the wireless working - it took 10 minutes which something of a record in my experience! It really is an excellent machine for the money.

    Best,
    P.

The original warranty would be no good in my case - every machine I get I have to replace the graphics with a new card, which probably invalidates the warranty.
