More memory definitely makes any PC run much faster.
If your PC has insufficient physical memory, it will use the swap file, which means your hard drive will be constantly churning away every time you need more memory. In a laptop this makes a huge difference, as it will reduce your battery life, and slow the machine right down to a virtual halt in some cases.
My desktop PC with 1GB of memory is actually using 600MB of memory just with a web browser and email open.
If you start running more programs on top of that then your PC will obviously start using more memory, and therefore 512MB is the bare minimum that anyone should consider, and 1GB will give you best performance.
This Dell 1300 uses 128MB for graphics alone, which only leaves you 128MB to run programs.
Enough said0 -
you dont want to spend £250 on 2gb memory for this lappy!
especially as it can only use 1280MB.0 -
I agree that an extra 256 ram is plenty for this machine. A good time to upgrade is after you've used it for a few months, as a little treat.
What I can't believe is money savers wasting cash on a warranty for a machine which is a) already guaranteed for a year b) probably won't go wrong c) cost less than £300 in the first place.0 -
