-Okay, so now I've got my laptop, got my extra memory, got my screwdriver but where the heck do I put the memory? I know it's supposed to have 2 memory slots, I found the existing memory but couldn't see where the other bit was supposed to go. Am I really having a blonde moment, I thought it was supposed to be easy. Help, please!0
-
are both slots already full on this machine? do you have to take one out and replace it if you want to upgrade???0

...and my 512mb from crucial, £45, not the cheapest, but guaranteed to work, refundable if not happy etc - peace of mind is sometimes worth a small (£20 on a £300+ laptop) amount extra.
anyway, the last 2 people had memory queries:
1. At 256mb it's got one free memory slot
2. The free slot is above the occupied slot - have a look in the Dell manual (there's a shortcut on the desktop) - it show putting memory into the lower slot (which has the 256mb dell memory in), the free one is above but slightly off-set from the occupied slot.
mine went in fine and boot up seemed to be quicker (have already dumped tiscali, aol and wannado)
hth
v happy with my deal and with dell's delivery (phoned on weds, delivered on friday) if not with their sales "techniques"!0 -
Today UPS delivered a 58w battery! do you have another parcel , no was his reply. So no machine just a battery and I have yet to get confim email although I was told by phone it was on its way but I cant track it because no numbers. God I hope its worth it after all this aggravation!0

What in the world!
That.... does not.... sound good.
I think you are going to have to give someone a severe ear bending...
i'm actually laughing at the absurdity of it! Looks to me like the salesman put through an order for a battery to avoid selling the laptop.0 -

So the Indian guy gets his commission on the battery, as there is none on the laptop....definitely not looking good.0 -

that £36 card is the same as the one I paid £45 for, looks like I've paid £9 for my "free" 256mb usb memory stick.
ah well
still a good deal for £425 inc 768MB ram (self upgrade), 15.4" screen and 3 yr at home warranty.0 -
!!!!!!s. typical really. I ordered my memory 1 day too early
Is it worth me emailing them as they dropped the prices the day after I placed my order!! or is it just hard luck?
